A mobile phone that we provide is used to open the gate. See directions and House Manual (that you get access to when we accept your reservation) for details. The NeighborhoodSpectacular Northern Lights (aurora borealis) can be seen frequently during winter (or after it gets dark at night sometime in August).
The cottage area is in a beautiful valley (Eilífsdalur = Eternal Valley in Miðdalur = Center Valley) with small family farms, roaming lifestock, large mountains, waterfalls, rivers, creeks and a number of hiking opportunities.
The fjord (Hvalfjordur = Whale Fjord) is spectacular and can be seen from the balcony (not the ocean during summer because the trees have grown so tall) and from the hills and certain parts of the road behind the cottage, and is only a few minutes drive from the area.
