The SpaceWe live in a large 129 year old schoolhouse two hours train/bus/car from Stockholm. We offer our guests a large, bright apartment with one large bedroom (possibly apartment can be made into two bedrooms) with your own shower, bathroom, kitchen/pantry and living room.
Breakfast of fresh bread, granola, and other locally-produced treats is included at no extra charge. Sheets and towels are included also in the price.
Magical forest and cool river swimming just steps from our door! Excellent grill spot on the property with wood ready for chopping. We are happy to offer tours of the forest and lakes, cross-country skiing opportunities, mushroom and berry picking or other traditional Swedish activities(depending upon length of stay).
We live in the other apartment on the second floor as well with our two daughters. More rooms available upon request; there is space for larger parties in our downstairs bedrooms. Highchair and crib are also available. Sheets and towels are provided for all guests.
We have year-round events in our Cafe that our guests can also participate in. Moose, beaver, wolves, foxes and, of course, trolls and fairies are our closest neighbors.
Wireless broadband included, but no cell phone service here in the country.
In the Summer, our cafe is open for purchase of lunch, fresh salads from the garden, home baked bread and other sweet desserts. Café is open from Wednesday to Saturday.
In the winter, be aware that this charming home, though cozy, is cooler in indoor temperature than a modern home, so take along an extra sweater and slippers for the hardwood floors. An extra space heater is included in case you need it. Guest AccessGuests have access to our snow shoes (two pairs) in winter and a small selection of cross country skis or ice skates (also children sizes, just email us).
In summer, we have a few bikes, nothing fancy here, that may be available. Can also purchase veggies/salad from the garden for a small cost. Place to grill and eat outside as well. River to swim in or we live close to many beautiful lakes. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the same building, so we will definitely say hello if we see you; we are available to give you personalized tips as you would like them. Otherwise, you decide how much you want to interact with us. If you have kids like we do, ours might try to play with yours.
We have a summer cafe open Wed-Sat on the first floor of the schoolhouse. You can get lunches and desserts here when open.
The NeighborhoodMoose, beaver, wolves, foxes and, of course, trolls and fairies are our closest neighbors. It is a peaceful environment, 11 kilometers to shopping, bank, and drug store. Excellent hiking, swimming, fishing and biking opportunities (fishing requires the purchase of a license from a local store, but we have a fishing pole.) Getting AroundWe recommend renting a car while you are here as there is no bus line that takes you to our home. We are two hours from Arlanda airport/Stockholm.
Other Things to NoteWe offer wireless internet access but there is no cell phone reception here in the countryside.
