The SpaceCome stay in this beautiful, light & peaceful apartment featuring incredible, uninterrupted views of Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat.
Located near the bottom of the Royal Mile, the flat is on the top floor (3rd - no lift) of a traditional tenement building. It's situated on the edge of Holyrood Park in a very quiet cul-de-sac with no through traffic. Parking is free in the street and surrounding area. It really feels as though you are in the midst of a beautiful wilderness but with access to all the thriving capital city of Edinburgh has to offer!
Our guests have often commented that the flat feels like a real home, comfortable and welcoming. Perfect for a couple, family or friends sharing, the flat is compact but adaptable and can sleep up to six people. It has a master bedroom with romantic four-poster double bed and box-bedroom with single bed. The kitchen/living room also features a lovely built-in 3/4 size cabin bed with a fold-out double sofa-bed underneath.
The flat has recently been redecorated to a very high standard with a new kitchen & bathroom. There's a good shower over an enamel bath and the living room/kitchen is really comfortable and cosy with two large sofas.
Fully equipped with gas central heating, WiFi internet, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, gas hob & oven, plenty of cooking equipment & basic food cupboard items. Towels & sheets are provided at no extra charge.
Virgin Media TV service is provided. You can also log-in to your Netflix account and all the free high-quality UK streaming-media services (BBC Iplayer, 4OD, etc). Good access to children's TV on these services - including on-demand.
For the musically inclined there is also a piano and a small selection of sheet music.
Maps, tourist leaflets, restaurant guides and local info will be available in the flat. Other homely touches include a really good library featuring top Scottish authors, books about Edinburgh and its history, natural history and quiz books. There are also board games, children's books and a toy box. The living room/kitchen is equipped with a DAB radio, a DVD player and also an iPod dock. Baby equipment such as high chair and cot can also be provided on request.
Close by on Easter Road are a good selection of shops including The Manna House, an excellent Belgian baker/patisserie. It's a 5 min walk to a supermarket and shopping centre. There is also a corner shop and chinese takeaway at the top of the street and a wonderfully retro launderette nearby. The city centre is a 15-20 minute walk away and if you don't want to walk there is an excellent bus service that runs every 5mins from London Road to Princes Street.
Attractions nearby include Holyrood Palace & Park, The Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth, Royal Mile, Museum of Childhood, Omni Centre Cinema, Princes Street, George Street, Edinburgh Castle & Old Town. Many shops, cafes, bars, galleries & museums are also within easy reach.
I highly recommend climbing Arthurs Seat for incredible views of the city. You can continue over the other side to the charming village of Duddingston where a visit to the Sheep Heid Inn is a must: They serve gorgeous food, have a beautiful open air courtyard within and you can also book a game of skittles which is great fun. It's also a short bus ride on the 26 to Portobello which boasts a perfect golden beach and many nice cafes, bars and shops.
An airport bus stops very close to the flat and Edinburgh Waverley train station is 20 mins walk away, or 5 mins by bus / taxi. A taxi from Edinburgh airport costs approx. £25 and a taxi from the train station costs around £8
Check-in and check-out times are flexible and I will try and accommodate your schedule whenever possible. It's really helpful to know your travel plans so please let me know what time you intend to arrive and depart and by what method of transport when you book. It's also really nice to be able to read a bit about you in your profile when you submit a rental request.
