The SpaceWelcome to Eagles Rise, as my mother named it! My home is based high up on a hill in Central North Tasmania, with views of the ocean and yet only 10 minutes drive to the main town, Ulverstone, and the beach! The accommodation available is a studio room (the cabin!) with a kitchen area and your own separate bathroom. A cozy weekend getaway, with, I'm told, the comfiest queen bed!!! I have designated this accommodation for two people only, however, there is a fold-out trundle bed for that extra guest :) $35 per person, per night. Babies in their own porta-cots are also very welcome :) There is no 2 night minimum stay, however, a single night's stay incurs $20 towards the cleaning/changeover fee :) There are some dvds available for your use, as well as some well loved board games! A bath seat also available on request, should someone need it for an easier shower. The cabin is attached to the main house with a separate hallway in between and has it's own front door as well as West facing French doors out to the driveway. A washing machine is also available for use. There is also a little private garden on the Eastern side of the house, where you can have your morning coffee, or dine under the stars. There is a large bbq also available for your use. When you don't feel like cooking, you can have Pizza delivered to your door by the Red Grasshopper in town! A picnic backpack is in the laundry cupboard, should you wish to go somewhere for a picnic! Down at Isandula Lake is a great spot. The property is on 35 acres in a rural area, with many tourist attractions nearby, such as Leven Canyon, Gunns Plains Caves, Wings Wildlife Park (Tasmania's largest wildlife/animal park) and Cradle Mountain is only 80 kilometers away. It's a great spot to base yourself whilst traveling around this area of Tasmania, or even if you are just breezing through! A third of the property is bush, which is great for walks, especially if you like birds. You can even walk further into the adjoining plantation forest, or down the road to the lake. Being in a pocket of many creative cottage industries, there is a myriad of art galleries to explore, as well as antique stores and lots of little cafes to relax in and drink excellent coffee! Penguin beach is only 15 minutes away, where there is a large Sunday market to browse. The well renowned 'Wild' restaurant that was in Penguin, is now in Devonport. Book ahead! The nearest airport is Devonport Airport, 25 minutes drive from the house. Devonport harbour, where the Spirit of Tasmania comes in from Melbourne, is only 20 minutes. A flight from Melbourne to Devonport is around one hour. Launceston Airport is an hour and a half drive away and to Hobart from Devonport, it is around a three and a half to four hours drive. If you are needing professional photographs done during your stay, perhaps to announce an engagement or renewal of vows, I am a professional portrait photographer. Please check out Kit Campbell and Headshots Australia through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). I have had many visitors from other sites, with wonderful reviews, especially about the bed! Please come over and see for yourself and then I will have more reviews for this site! Looking forward to meeting you and here's a list of nearby things to see and do :) Leven Canyon Gunns Plain Caves Wing Wildlife Park Lilico Beach Conservation Area, you will see Penguins from September to March. Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake (80 km) Narawntapu National Park (60 km) Local Beaches Walking and cycling tracks Vineyards Turners Beach Berry Patch Anvers Chocolate Factory Kindest regards Kit Yay! Finally have internet access here too! :) Guests have access to anywhere on the grounds, the main barbeque on the front deck, as well as the picnic table there. There is a private guest garden, with a bench, table and chairs and soon to come, a pizza oven! :) As I travel a bit for work, there are times when I will not be around during a guests stay. This will only mean that you will have more peace and quiet up here! :) When I am here, I am as visible or invisible as my guests require :) I had one couple, newly weds, that I didn't see for four days!!! :) And I've had long and lovely chats with others, sitting watching the sunset during cocktail hour! :) To be sensitive to the needs of my guests is important to me, and even when I am away, I am always accessible, as well as having someone looking after the place for me in my absence. I love my neighborhood because of the people in it and the marvelous views that surround me up here. Any neighbor that you might knock on the door asking for help, will be there for you. The local Gawler General Store is definitely one of those! Ian and Susan are friends and two of the most helpful and kind people I know. They are at 170 Gawler Road, on your way up here and open from 7am to 7pm. Petrol is available there too, along with yummy snacks and coffee :) No public transport, except the school bus in the morning! You wanted to 'get away' didn't you?! There are cabs from Devonport airport that can bring you up here, but I would suggest a hire car so that you can visit all there is to see around here. Come to relax, enjoy 'you' in the peaceful place that is Eagles Rise and delight in all that is around you :) Guest AccessYay! Welcome to Eagles Rise, as my mother named it! My home is based high up on a hill in Central North TASMANIA, with views of the ocean & yet only 10 minutes drive to the main town, Ulverstone, & the beach and I share this wonderful space with my young Irish Wolfhound Puppy Tippi! More photos are on my fb page 'Eagles Rise - Short Term Accommodation' The accommodation available is a studio room (the cabin) with a kitchen area & your own separate bathroom. A cozy weekend getaway, with the comfiest queen bed! There are dvds available for your use, as well as some well loved books & board games. A bath seat also available on request, should it be needed for an easier shower. The cabin is attached to the main house with a separate hallway in between & has it's own entrance, as well as West facing doors, allowing the sunsets to flood the cabin with light. There is also a little private garden on the Eastern side of the house, where you can have your morning coffee, or dine under the stars. There is a large BBQ also available for your use. A picnic backpack & camping chairs are available too, should you wish to go somewhere for a picnic! There are also board games, books & DVDs for the rainy days & a set of boules for the sunny ones! :) The property is on 35 acres in a rural area, with many tourist attractions nearby, such as Leven Canyon, Gunns Plains Caves, Wings Wildlife Park, The Nut at Stanley, & Cradle Mountain, which is 80 kilometers away. It's a great spot to base yourself whilst traveling around this area of Tasmania, or even if you are just breezing through!. Being in a pocket of many creative cottage industries, there is a myriad of art galleries to explore, as well as antique stores and lots of little cafes to relax in and drink excellent coffee! Penguin beach is only 15 minutes away, where there is a large Sunday market to browse. The nearest airport is Devonport Airport, 25 minutes drive from the house. Devonport harbour, where the Spirit of Tasmania comes in from Melbourne, is only 20 minutes. A flight from Melbourne to Devonport is around one hour. Launceston Airport is an hour & a half drive away & to Hobart from Devonport, it is around a three & a half to four hours drive. Please note, there is no 2 night minimum stay, however, each stay incurs $25 towards the cleaning/changeover fee :) I look forward to meeting you! :) Kit REVIEWS: - We stayed at Kit’s gorgeous self contained cottage for 2 nights, fantastic location, extremely relaxed and Kit made us feel extremely welcomed indeed, we hope to visit Tassie next year & will certainly be back to Kits accommodation if available, thanks once again Kit for making our stay so FANTASTIC!!! Kind regards Chris & Rod Richardson :-) – (Mitcham, Victoria, Australia) - Kit was a very hospitable & thoughtful host during our stay. the cabin has got everything you need... even if you need to cook like what we did for our two evenings! the surroundings is beautiful and we especially enjoy the drive back to the cabin where we were greeted by the herds & fields which we don't see back in our country.. we really enjoyed our stay & hope to be back in Tasmania some time in future! Thank you Kit!! :))) – Grace & Benny (Singapore) - This was the quintessentially perfect Airbnb experience: beautiful setting, cozy cabin & a warm & welcoming host. We loved it. Thanks Kit. – Tim & Garmisch (Canberra, Australia) - Kit went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Her place is extremely cosy & the bed exceptionally comfortable. Her property is positioned among beautiful rolling hills. If you want a place to get away from it all them look no further. – Kyla (New York) - Believe the hype. This place is a beautiful retreat in the hills, it's only 1.5 hr (picturesque) drive into cradle mountain national park... which made it a perfect alternative to more expensive accommodation closer to the site - aside from that there are plenty of other attractions in the vicinity. Then there is Kit, the super host. Kit always respected our privacy & personal space. An A+ host. – Luke & Tessa (Sydney, Australia) - Kit's home is amazing, I fell in love with it. It was immaculate. Clean. Cosy with plenty of room; everything we needed in our own private space. Kit was & is an amazing woman & a brilliant host. I only wish my stay wasn't just for one night. I could have easily just moved in. – Stefano (Sydney, Australia) - Awesome stay in a clean & very 'holidaylike' accomodation! awesome bed, as many already said, & I'm also not the first saying that we stayed for one night -unfortunately ☹ - Tony (Hamburg, Germany) - What a lovely studio space to stay in. It has this very relaxing country feel to it & is in an excellent spot to drive to all of the north coast & Cradle Mountain. Kit was on the way back from Europe so didn't catch up with her but she was still in contact to make certain everything was okay. Fantastic! – Daniel (Melbourne, Australia) I love my neighborhood because of the people in it and the marvelous views that surround me up here. Any neighbor that you might knock on the door asking for help, will be there for you. The local Gawler General Store is definitely one of those! Ian and Susan are friends and two of the most helpful and kind people I know. They are at 170 Gawler Road, on your way up here and open from 7am to 7pm. Petrol is available there too, along with yummy snacks and coffee :) Once here, you might just want to stay cosy in the cabin! However, it's a great place to base yourselves, whilst touring all over the North West and Central Coast of Tasmania. I'm setting up another organic vegetable garden and orchard, so whatever's growing and available, you are welcome to try! A hired car is preferable, as even though the property is only ten minutes drive from town, there is only taxis and no bus service. You will want to have your own car anyway! There's so much to see around here! :)

The SpaceComplimentary cinema tickets and choc-tops for you and your house guests! Enjoy free cinema tickets to Devonport's CMAX Cinema. How do you talk about your own home - well I thought I would let one of our guests tell the story... “The house is amazingly spacious, stylish, and comes with beautiful bed linen, gas fireplaces in the living rooms, and a Saeco Professional coffee machine that makes Fabulous coffee (and that's high praise indeed from a coffee addict like myself). I loved cozying up in the Winter room at night, then basking in the sun-drenched living room during the day, complete with novel and, yes, a good coffee! Trine and Ivor are welcoming and generous hosts, and their communications with us were timely and courteous, accurate, and full of helpful information. 10 out of 10 on every front. In fact, everything about The Manse exceeded our expectation." …. So what else can we add…. hmmmm well, The Manse, features a main bedroom which is sun filled in the morning, has heaps of space and a comfy chair to curl up in and read a book or listen to some music. The second double bedroom is a great size too and has good cupboard space with great natural light – oh and is close to the coffee machine! We can provide you with a trundle bed that we can easily set up for you either bedroom or in one of the two lounges. High quality linen is provided for all beds (yum). Spacious kitchen equipped with conventional and steam ovens, cook-top, dishwashers (let's face it, who likes to do the dishes when on holidays?) coffee machine, and fridge, plus all the things you need to entertain. The Tonic Lounge, features a fabulous gas fire, TV with Apple TV/DVD, a lounge to die for and two big leather chairs that you will just sink into whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Think 'old style New York Jazz bar' without the cigar smoke! The sun filled library/lounge will enable you to sit, read and enjoy some music, watch TV or watch one of the zillion DVDs we have - open the double French doors onto the large deck, smell the herbs, listen to the water feature, relax and read a book... argh 'the serenity '. The Dining Room can seat up to eight and as it's an open plan into the kitchen, you can sit and watch others cook for you whilst you throw ' helpful' suggestions. Or as you are so close to everything, walk to one of the cafe's nearby, perhaps pack a picnic, or grab some take away fish and chips and head down to the river. Its a pretty amazing site watching the Spirit of Tasmania come into and out of the narrow river. Walk to the cinema where two free tickets, oh and a choc-top, are yours. Your own laundry, separate toilet (in fact there are two) a great bathroom which includes a deep bath and two fluffy bath robes. The deck is made for entertaining with a large gas BBQ, outside dinning table that will seat as many as you need. There are fresh herbs growing which you can help yourself too, but will need a little drink during your stay. The SpaceA unique historic experience. 'Lettes Bay' is a diverse collection of rustic shacks that were integral to the history of the Mt Lyell Mining and Railway Company and Strahan. 'Lettes Bay' is registered within the Tasmanian Heritage Register. 'Lettes Bay' is the only Tasmanian shack community that is heritage-protected (2011) within Tasmania; therefore is a very special area. We give low cost, budget accommodation without having to stay at a backpackers. Guest AccessThe 'Boat Shed' consists of two small heritage listed shacks joined by a common corridor. A separate outdoor laundry is available for guests and a outdoor shed also contains firewood for the two fireplaces. We do suggest pre purchasing your own wood to make sure you have an adequate supply Situated on 'Lettes Bay', a jetty is available to guests for fishing. Interaction with GuestsI am in contact via phone and email whilst guests stay at the 'Boat Shed' but enable an autonomous stay for guests to enjoy. Your stay is getting close. This is the phone number for our caretaker in Strahan if you get lost. (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). To find the boat shed you must enter via green street. Turn left at the steam train depot and follow the rd ( this is Lettes Bay Rd). The shed is on the left. The shed carport faces the rd and the front of the shed faces the water. from the road you're looking for a cream shack with a dark red carport (spray paint #81), then once you've parked it's the blue shack in front of the carport to the left. Beside the front door is a lock box that holds the keys. The code to the lock box is ###. The lock box is not a power (URL HIDDEN) is more like a safe. Please place keys back on your departure. You will be looking for a blue shack. Remember to bring your firewood and matches which can be obtained at the IGA or service station in Strahan. Hope you enjoy your stay. I have also added additional photos of the carport and front of the boat shed for identification. Remember you are staying within a historical section of Strahan and the community of sheds were used as holiday homes for miners over 100 years ago., and due to there historical value are remained untouched on the exterior preserving the authentic nature. Also please remove any food you leave in the fridge on your departure. The Neighborhood'Lettes Bay' is characterised by its ad hoc nature. Shacks are constructed close to one another and still retain the original recycled materials of the 1920's. The heritage listed shacks represent the determination of a remote community of workers to make their own recreational facilities in a form entirely suited to their own needs. This history continues to have a strong meaning for the local community as a recreational place. Getting Around3km to Strahan Explore the most beautiful wilderness in Australia, The West Coast Tasmania. Feel the horrors of convict life visiting Sarah Island Appreciate the beauty of the glorious Huon Pine Ride the West Coast Railway Watch for penguins Cruise the Gordon Franklin Rivers Serene Trawlers with fresh seafood. Stroll the Esplanade Fish from the private jetty Curl up with a book or your loved one in front of the wood fire. Simply Enjoy and experience a true historical community. Other Things to NoteThe Boat Shed is part of a collection of crooked, texture-rich shacks situated on Lettes Bay, Strahan. During the summer, the colourful shacks come alive, in the cooler months a wintery solitary takes over. 'The Boat Shed' is a Heritage listed property. A stay at the 'Boat Shed' is not a five star experience, it is a historical one, filled with quirkiness, a surreal feel of a bygone era; where fat ducks waddle to greet you. We attempt to have fire wood supplied but do suggest that you pre purchase your own wood, with kindling and matches for the two fireplaces. There is an electric heater n case you forget. Also prepare to arrive in day light hours as the boat shed can be a little tricky to find in the dark.
