The home was built in 1954. My family farmed the land and the property is still owned by myself and two brothers. We will be glad to share with you stories about growing up in the area in the late 1940's to the present. The house sits on approximately 1 acre of land with many maple shade trees. The neighbors are friendly (Southern) and most are my friends who grew up with me.

Alvarado Vacation Rental is nestled in the mountains of Southwest Virginia at 26486 Denton Valley Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211. It is approximately 10-15 minutes driving distance from Abingdon and Damascus, Virginia, and about 30 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway (NASCAR). We have the Creeper Trail, Replica of the Old Alvarado Train Station (with bathrooms), restaurant, country store, parking for riding and hiking the Creeper Trail, South Holston River with picnic tables, shelters and South Holston Lake about 3 minutes from our vacation home. At our vacation home you will find a very large lawn (2a.), picnic table, deck with table and chairs, fire pit, small stream running through the property where the picnic table and fire pit is located on the property. Also we have a corn hole game, board games, horse shoe for small children, pool table and plenty of room for bring your own games. The area is a very quite neighborhood with very nice neighbors. Most of them have been living there their entire life. The majority of them will lend a hand if needed. I (Carol) grew up with most of them or know their children very well who live there. You can sit on the deck during the day relax, read a book, or observe your children or grandchildren playing in the yard. At night you can sit on the deck and observe the stars or moon over head or build a fire in the fire pit. Just a wonderful place to relax and enjoy yourself. Also we are 2 miles from South Holston Lake and South Holston River.
Damascus is a very small, quaint town with a shuttle service for bike riding to Whitetop Mountain and a Zip Line on the mountain. Trout streams, perfect for fishing all year round are also close to the town. Also the Appalachian Trial runs through the town of Damascus.
Abingdon is a very old town with lots of historic houses to tour and a variety of festivals throughout the year. There are a lot of restaurants in Abingdon with quite a few of them being locally owned and operated. Also, you will find downtown clothing boutiques, antique stores, and many other businesses. We have a tourism bureau located in the town with lots of brochures for local tourist locations and towns which are within an hour or so driving distance.
