Quiet side street of brick middle class homes. The interior is the gem, "shabby sheek" with vintage 50's furniture in the cozy living room with luxuriant ferns trailing to the floor. The couches have plenty of throws and pillows if you have time for a Netflix movie, a lovely setting for conversation, put your feet up, nothing is too precious to be used casually. The only new furniture is the beds and they are clean and comfortable. Two double beds each in their own room will accommodate up to four guests at once. This is a very informal setting and you are encouraged to make this your home while here. This is not a 5 star hotel but a living, breathing home of regular people so a glass left on the coffee table with no coaster is no problem... put your feet up and relax. Our home is an art gallery promoted by the state of Virginia and there are over five dozen cheerful paintings on all the walls of our home. The master bedroom of the host is also a working studio, but don't worry there are no noxious smells since the paints are water base. Guests seem to gravitate to the big screened in back porch with its own dining table and fun double hammock. All floors are highly varnished hardwood so there is no dusty carpets... no pets either, but i claim my big ferns as pets since they almost have a personality of their own. The living room has a romantic fireplace for cool evenings and plenty of wood with huge floor pillows to sit in front of the flames and listen to their quiet music. There is a Pandoria hook up also if you want a near endless choice of all expressions of music. The kitchen is fully equipped for you to use at any time like those midnight snacks... there is usually a bowl of fruit on the kitchen counter and a bouquet of fresh flowers there and often in the bedrooms also. Don't worry much about cleaning up in the kitchen because i do it about a dozen times a day preferring to keep vermin away with cleanliness rather than harsh chemicals. But I am not a neat freak as there is usually something in the kitchen sink wanting to be put away. We have WIFI for you computer users and a color printer and reams of paper. The neighborhood is a side street off of a side street and about all the light traffic is people living in this idyllic setting. all the grounds are well groomed making a pleasant walk or jog in this safe quiet enveron. No stray dogs or unruly children to bother exploring the outdoors. The back porch is a view of a near wild area of shrubs and trees having gold finches, blue birds, wrens and plenty of the usual local birds, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits for you to enjoy with your morning repast at the back porch table. Come visit and sta a while here in your home and explore Abingdon in the cool of the evenings... the weather is seasonal but we for some reason never get the worst of it... we have central heating and cooling. Come visit and stay awhile and you might decide to stay longer in this lovely comfortable home and explore the rich historical and cultural heritage of abingdon with its shops and many promonate art galleries.

A bridge built for dreams, brand new construction with 2 porches and a one-story floorplan make Park Street Guest House as public or as private as you want. Pull up the drawbridge, turn loose the dragons and hide out from the world...choose a book or a buddy and let someone else be in charge for awhile. OR...should you stir outside the cozy walls, our position in the heart of original pre-Revolutionary Abingdon lets you choose dining, shopping, world-famous Barter Theatre, outings on the Virginia Creeper Trail (for hike/bike fun) or just strolling the tree-lined brick sidewalks - all within a couple of blocks at most. Twice-a-week Farmers' Markets (seasonal) , art venues, exquisite crafts from a 5-state region, bike rentals for all ages right around the corner, access to a fully-equipped rec center (with walking trails, fitness rooms and both indoor and outdoor pools), a world-class yarn shop and emporiums offering spices, wines and olive oils ensure you'll be ANYthing but bored. Private get-away time, professional travel or family-friendly activities fit perfectly into this spacious, centrally-located cottage. Whether you're in town for family business, vacation, special events or a simply superb escape, our whimsical take on tradition invites you to make the place your own. 2 private suites (each with queen size bed and fully tiled bath with tub and shower) give travelers plenty of personal space; meanwhile, the rest of the house invites the world in to play. The fully-equipped kitchen with icemaker and dishwasher gives you options all the way from coffee on the screened porch to a fully-catered dinner. Separate dining and living room areas adapt to games, conferences or conversation. And, at the end of the day, you have your choice of "sleep-aids"...crickets, lazy ceiling fans or the sound of historic trains headed for some far-off destination, bearing the dreams of some other traveler.
