The SpaceWe are excited to be featured as a unique home in the April 2016 issue of Coastal Virginia Magazine so look for that on newstands! This adorable tiny house is a rural oasis and a wonderful retreat on its own or as a base camp for exploring the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The cottage is 225 square feet, yet feels larger due to a cathedral ceiling, spacious full bath, and plenty of natural light. Sleeps three. Say goodbye to noise, traffic, and light pollution, and drink in wide open spaces and a big starry sky. Located on the Delmarva Peninsula, this quaint cabin is 1.5 hours north of Virginia Beach and Norfolk area, and 3 hours south of Washington DC. There is a main house on the property where the owner lives with her family. You can coincide your stay with a NASA rocket launch on Wallops Island (you can see them from here). Take a twirl at a vintage local carnival, go kayaking/paddleboarding, book a boat ride, or pitch any plans and simply breathe in the quiet country air. Queen bed (foam mattress) and twin bunk above Kitchenette with mini-frig, microwave, bar sink, toaster oven, hot plate, and coffee pot Kitchen utensils provided Full bath with shower (no tub) Ceiling fan Air conditioning (window unit) Electric baseboard heat TV with network stations DVD player and movies provided (Red Box nearby too) Wireless internet with DSL Radio and iPod player Private outdoor shower with hot water Outdoor gas grill Fire pit and marsh/creek view behind main house Bikes for use (bring your own helmets please) Board games One mile from Folly Creek Public Boat Ramp Boat parking NEW - fresh chicken eggs from our coop! Guest AccessGrab a drink, sit a spell, and soak in the lovely marsh and creek view behind the main house. Watch the birds fly around, enjoy the fire pit, and relax in the hammock. The outdoor shower behind the red house is heavenly. The main house, canoe, and kayak are off-limits. Interaction with GuestsAs much as needed. I am a guide on the side. I will stay out of your way but am available for anything you may need. I can recommend restaurants, things to do, or hook you up with guides or boat rides for a sunset cruise, fishing or a day trip to the beach. A guide is provided for my favorite local spots. The NeighborhoodThis property is on a 50 acre working farm. It is one mile from a public boat ramp at Folly Creek. Use this as your base camp for exploring the Eastern Shore. The Little Red House is 15 minutes from the town of Onancock which boasts several lovely restaurants, 15 minutes from Wachapreague and its public ramp and vintage summer carnival, 45 minutes north of quaint Cape Charles, and 40 minutes south of Chincoteague and its famous wild ponies and wide beaches. Getting AroundThis is a wonderful place to take quiet walks in the countryside, with plenty of room to explore. Bikes are available for use. Relax and stay awhile. Visit the famous Chincoteague ponies on Assateague Island. As an added bonus, I provide a handy insiders guide to all my personal favorite places to visit on the Shore. Other Things to NoteKitchen items are provided such as dishes, cups, silverware, cutting boards, pots/pans, dish soap, utensils, grilling tools, and the like. I also provide a few basic condiments such as salt/pepper, coffee with cream/sugar. If you are unsure about what to pack, drop a line with any questions. You will need to bring your own food and beach supplies. Cancellations due to inclement weather are not accepted, unless the area is under evacuation.
