The SpaceThis space is a lovingly assembled relaxing getaway room. Located in a forested neighborhood, we strive to provide all the comforts of home.
-----> Pretty Please take a close look at this big ol' description & location information, we want you to know ALL the details and make sure it fits your needs! Accuracy in expectations is VERY important to us :)
Basics you should know up front:
The space is cozy, safe and efficient, approximately 300 square ft. total.
Think rustic homey apartment.
The unit is the lower level of our occupied home with it's own private entrance, and there are 3 sets of stairs between 7-15 steps each, for a total of 38 steps from parking to your door.
We are 8 miles from downtown Bellingham.
There is only one compact parking space.
This would be a great place for a single person or a couple on a short stay, no partying or loud noise please. Not ideal for more than 2 people or dogs over 40lbs, alone or combined.
This is NOT a party location or a hotel, despite having a hot tub. It is a family home and we do our best to step lightly and give you plenty of privacy during your stay. You may hear paws or normal living space sounds between 9a-9p, please be aware before you book that we are above you.
Squirrel Harbor is a labor of love, and we have striven to keep with eco-friendly practices, using recycled & rescued items to create this space. We also purchased items from stores specializing in keeping landfills free of excess waste.

It will be a great help in understanding our space and expectations, and if they meet yours. Guest AccessParking: One small COMPACT car-sized parking space available on site for your vehicle (max size is 14 ft long by 6 ft wide)
Larger vehicles & any additional vehicles will need to park at the park and ride 0.8 miles away and arrange transport to the house.

Laundry: We can run loads for you in our high efficiency front-loader washer and dryer ( $5 fee for each wash/dry)
Pets: Well-behaved, non-aggressive dogs only, please, with prior arrangement and proof of vaccination. The space is very tiny, so we need to limit combined dog weight to 40lbs due to damage by larger dogs and more than one pup. We have dogs on property that are goofy friendly, as well as children, so aggressive/territorial behavior in guest dogs will not work here. Pets need their own floor bedding, are not allowed on furniture or bedding, and are never to be left unattended. There is an additional $25 cleaning deposit for dogs.
Connectivity: Wireless internet is available - HOWEVER, Please think of this location as "off-the-grid" - so if you need to do important business or heavy media streaming on our internet connection, it will not be a good fit.
Please be sure you have a form of communication, especially if you are from across the border. We like to be able to contact you and vice versa. If you have a smartphone, please look at your carrier coverage map to see if your network has access here, as this valley can affect connection at times depending on your cell tower location.
Hot Tub: For your use during your visit, please advise if you will be using it in your reservation. Swimwear IS required :) It is available between the hours of 9am-11pm. Our favorites include the stunning Lookout Mountain Preserve, 13 miles long with 2 summits and amazing photo ops, and the Stimpson Nature Preserve with a beautiful beaver lodge and wildlife galore. Bring your camera!

We are 8.2 miles from Interstate 5 in central Bellingham, about a 15 minute drive, and 42.7 miles away from the Mt. Baker Recreational Area, which takes one hour on Hwy 9 & Hwy 542 from our home.
