The SpaceThe Place... This straw bale cabin sits on 20 private acres off in the woods... yet is only 30 minutes from Bellingham and 1 hour from Mt. Baker. Quiet... quiet... quiet is the main comment from first time visitors. The queen bed in the loft sleeps 2 and there is also a hide-a-bed couch downstairs or an air mattress available for kids or extra guests. Full bath, kitchen and dining room... the property is completely off-grid yet convenient with propane lights and appliances... and a wood stove for our winter guests. (No electricity... but plenty of candles...!!!) Our resident dog, Smooch, will accompany you if you decide to hike the numerous trails surrounding the property... and he will surely greet your arrival and departure with friendly barking. Smooch is, however, hit or miss with other dogs, so please... no visiting pooches allowed... Thanks! Eating Options... The cabin is stocked with a couple breakfast options as well as fresh fruits, coffee and teas. There is a gas BBQ on the front porch if you decide to bring some groceries and craft a late lunch or evening meal. If time and weather permit... the fire pit is a nice place to share a bottle of wine and good conversation. Bellingham and Mt. Vernon are 30 minutes away and have tons of excellent restaurants if you just want to go out... Smooch and I live in the shop/apartment across the road from the cabin... occasionally my work schedule allows me to pull weeds in my own gardens... but not often. Look forward to meeting... Paul Guest AccessBesides the Cozy Cabin... the surrounding lawn and gardens, the fire pit and of course trails through the woods are up for grabs as options!!! Interaction with GuestsI can often sit for a bit and chat about the place... or I can easily disappear and let you enjoy the solitude. The NeighborhoodPretty darn quiet... occasional dirt bike or chain saw in the distance... often an owl hoot or coyote howl at night. The one common statement made by first time visitors is the utter woodland silence. Getting AroundHiking is my favorite form of transit... but I also have a couple mountain bikes available if you want to explore at a little faster pace. Other Things to NoteThe stairs to the sleeping loft are modeled after a typical ship ladder. A handrail IS provided but challenges exist for folks having difficulty with mobility.

The SpaceDon't be fooled by the price on this beautiful cabin! I am a traveler myself so understand how important it is to find a good deal on a nice place to stay. When you're ready to get away from the stress of every day life, this space offers an opportunity to do just that! A wonderfully, quiet room in small cabin settled within a nature preserve. If you desire solitude and privacy, rest assured, the owner generally resides elsewhere during the duration of your stay, but will be on call to make sure you have everything you need. Peaceful neighborhood, with public transit exactly one mile away. Golf course, pool, many lakes and trails all within walking/riding distance, or a short two minute drive. Local grocery and restaurants within a mile range. Cabin overlooks a bluff and has a small wood stove. Perfect for the person who wishes to get away from it all. Wifi, high speed internet, a small oven/stove and small private refrigerator are available. The city of Bellingham is ten minutes away for those individuals who enjoy a day of adventure. Western University is a short ten mile drive for those parents who wish to visit their students. Whatcom Falls park within five miles and many mountain biking trails. The near-by town of Fairhaven is filled with wonderful artists and specialty restaurants. Inter-urban trails, Alaska ferry, and outdoor theater are all close by. Some fun activities include : the mall, the board walk, sailboat racing during summer months and maybe you'll experience the comedy club later in the evening. You can adventure out knowing you'll have inviting accommodations to return to when you are tired and need to relax. You can expect a warm greeting upon your arrival and your room will include incidentals in case you've forgotten something at home. While most of the house is aesthetically pleasing, there are a couple small projects that are still in need of completion. We look forward to meeting you! I have had to revise my pet policy. Due to continued concerns for future guests who may have allergies as well as with pet damage that has occurred (claw marks on leather furniture, scratches on flooring), I can no longer accept pets. I do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Please be aware that there is a $30 cleaning fee. This is necessary to cover costs of cleaning linens, and scrubbing restroom and general cleaning between guests. I try to keep the costs down for frugal travelers and this is why my listing is at $40 per night for week nights and $50 for Fridays and Saturdays. Interaction with GuestsI am typically house-sitting so do not stay at the cabin while guests are present. However, I am available if needed. The NeighborhoodQuiet neighborhood with access to golf, swimming, kayaking and more. Getting AroundPublic transit is one mile away and has limited hours on the weekends

The SpaceHand crafted finishes obtained from sustainable harvested items from the surrounding forest give this cottage a unique, artistic feel. The all natural construction helps blend the inside of the home with the beauty of the natural surroundings. Many of the furnishings in the space were crafted by us. There is a sturdy and very quiet queen size bed and ample closet space in the private master bedroom, as well as a small second bedroom with a twin size bed. All the linens and towels in the space have been washed in a sanitary cycle with steam injection to remove allergens and germs. Our focus for this space is health, healing and happiness. The kitchen has a small fridge that will have snacks and breakfast foods available and a full size propane range for cooking. We have fruits and veggies from our garden available in the space as the seasons allow. Outdoors there is a private outhouse and a separate outdoor covered bathing area surrounded by natural cedar that was cut and crafted from the property. Guest AccessThe entire space will be yours to enjoy for your stay. Complete and total privacy in a pristine quiet setting nestled deep in the woods. Interaction with GuestsMichelle is a Washington state licensed massage practitioner with 10 years experience combining Swedish massage, lomi lomi and acupressure for relaxing therapeutic massage. If you would like to schedule a massage in the tiny house during your stay please feel free to inquire. Availability is subject to her schedule. (Massage license numb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) Other guests have mentioned how nice it is to to receive a relaxing massage and be able to just melt into bed or a hot soak in the enclosed outdoor tub - without having to drive home... You already ARE home! (-; We live close by - If you need anything else, please contact us. Otherwise we will let you enjoy the space without disturbing you! The NeighborhoodThe tiny house is located in a private and isolated wooded setting. It is about 35 minutes to Bellingham or 25 minutes to Burlington/Mt. Vernon. About 15 minutes to get to a gas station or the Alger bar and grill. We are 20 minutes from I-5 exit 240. There is also a small country store about 10 minutes away. This is a great get away from the city! Enjoy private hiking trails and tranquil moments in the woods. Getting AroundFree parking on site. Public transit bus at the Alger shell station, about 15 minute drive from here. Other Things to NoteGuests have told us that we provide a wider selection of foods than most hosts. We have basic snacks, breakfast foods, coffee, tea, soups, etc. available. The location of the property is in a remote and isolated wooded setting. The private access gravel road that leads to the property has a lot of pot holes and in the rainy season large puddles to drive though. It is about 3 miles off the paved road. Any four wheel drive vehicle will do fine as well as a light weight vehicle such as a small Honda. If you have any concerns about your vehicle being able to access the property, please feel free to email us with questions. The tiny house is completely off grid. We produce our own electricity on site from renewable sources. Generally it is best to not utilize high demand electrical appliances and items. Doing so will cause the available power to be used up too quickly which will shut down the system. Hair dryers, curling irons, kitchen appliances and such should not be used. Basically anything with a large electrical motor or anything that heats air or water electrically should be avoided. Laptops, phone chargers, efficient lights and similar items are all OK. There are battery operated flashlights and lanterns throughout the home should the lights go out. The Internet service to the property is comparatively slow 1 meg DSL because we are so remote. Generally, web browsing and email work fine, Netflix does not really work well. T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon cell service coverage is excellent at our property. Sprint is spotty. CedarHaven Homestead is a working permaculture farm. We don't have any employees but we (Michelle and Peter) quite often work on the property. We have a small tractor and 2 pickup trucks that we use from time to time. We strictly respect our guests privacy and take steps to minimize activity and noise in the vicinity of our cabins during your visit. As we are working on 40 acres and our todo list is basically infinite, it is pretty easy to find something to do on a far corner of the property at any given time. So If any noise or activity is bothersome to you please let us know so we can insure that we provide you with the level of peace and quite that you expect during your visit with us.

The SpaceThis cozy tiny cabin in the woods has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Upstairs there is a comfortable queen size memory foam bed, and two large windows with views of the surrounding forest. There is also a small desk area for a laptop computer. Downstairs the small kitchen is complete with a full size gas stove and oven and fridge. There are pots and pans and dishes, so you don't need to worry about bringing anything to cook with. We also provide an assortment of snacks and breakfast foods as well as coffee and tea. Outside there is a large covered deck, perfect for enjoying meals outside. The composting toilet is located off of the deck, so you can comfortably access the outdoor bathroom even when its raining. If you enjoy a long soak in the tub surrounded by nature, then you will love this outdoor bath! Unlimited hot water is provided by the on demand water heater. There is also a fire pit near the porch which provides a feeling of camping with the comforts of a home. Sustainably harvested wood from the property is used throughout the space inside and out to create a unique artistic space that reflects the beauty of the surrounding landscape . In this off grid location you will feel the peace and serenity of living in harmony with nature . Interaction with GuestsOur goal is to allow guests to have their privacy for the duration of their stay. However you can always get ahold of us if you need anything! The NeighborhoodThe highlight of this space is its remote location. To get here, you will drive approximately three miles on an unpaved road through the woods. Once you get to your private parking spot, you will hike down a short trail to the tiny house. We are located about 35 minutes from Bellingham , but the Alger bar and grill is about 15 minutes away and there is also a small country store with a few supplies. Getting Around15 Minutes to I-5 and Public Transit Bus serving all of Skagit and Whatcom Counties Other Things to NoteThe road getting to the property is a bit rough. It is a gravel road with many pot holes, some are very large. If you have any concerns about your vehicle making it, please ask us about it. Most vehicles make it out there with no problems. The Internet service to the property is slow because it is so remote. Generally, web browsing and email work ok, Netflix does not really work. The tiny cabin is completely off grid. We produce our own electricity on site from renewable sources. Generally it is best to not utilize high demand electrical appliances and items. Doing so will cause the available power to be used up too quickly which will shut down the system. Hair dryers, curling irons, electric kitchen appliances and such should not be used. Basically anything with a large electrical motor or anything that heats air or water electrically should be avoided. Laptops, phone chargers, efficient lights and similar items are all OK. There are battery operated flashlights and lanterns throughout the home should the lights go out. The other thing we want to let you know is that there is an old RV parked close by that you can see from the porch . It's not very attractive at the moment, but we plan to take it apart and use the frame to build another tiny home in the future! As we are working on 40 acres it is pretty easy to find something to do on a far corner of the property at any given time. That said, If any noise or activity is bothersome to you please let us know so we can insure that we provide you with the level of peace and quite that you expect during your visit with us.

The NeighborhoodSudden Valley is a private community nestled between Lookout Mountain and the 8-mile long Lake Whatcom. It's a great place to get away and unwind, while still being within 20 minutes of all that Bellingham has to offer. There is plenty of fun to be had here in Sudden Valley with miles of hiking trails and a stunning golf course on Lake Whatcom. The Sudden Valley community has full-time security making it very safe and quiet. Getting AroundThere is a bus that goes into Bellingham, however the bus stop is a 15 minute walk from our house. The Sunshine House is located on Lake Whatcom's more private South Bay. Originally built 100 years ago as an office for a local coal mining company this 2 bedroom home has just been completely restored to a cozy, comfortable lakeside retreat with tons of character. We have created a space perfect for the most romantic getaways or a simple fun family escape. Each of the 2 bedrooms sleeps four. One room has a queen and a bunk bed and the other has a full and a bunk bed. In addition the living room sofa has a queen sized pull out bed. Private dock to accommodate your boat and boat launch less then a minute down the road. The bay is a no-wake zone which makes it great for swimming and paddle sports. A short idle out of the bay lends to great wake boarding, tubing and all other water sports. The Sunshine House is only a 25 minute (beautiful!) drive to Bellingham which has great antique stores, amazing restaurants, whale watching tours, and at least 9 local breweries (they keep opening up!). There is beautiful hiking all around us. Stimpson Family Trail (only 10 mins away) and The Pacific Crest Trail (20 mins) are just two great examples. Mountain biking is one of Bellingham locals favorite activities and it is apparent when you ride up Galbraith Mountain, only 10 to 15 mins away! Mt. Baker, which holds the world record for the most snow in one year, is only 38 miles away. We have tons of fun parks including, Lake Padden, Whatcom Falls Park and Boulevard Park. AND SO MUCH MORE!

Relax and enjoy spectacular waterfront sunsets year round from our beautiful, peaceful lakefront home. Only 10-15 minutes from Bellingham's core areas, yet a million miles away from the rush of city life. Our home is ideally located on a dead-end road, in a very quiet section of the highly sought-after sunny side of the lake. We enjoy bright sun well into the evening year round. Our home is perched just above the lake at an ideal elevation - high enough to offer an unparalleled, panoramic view of the lake removed from any boat noise, but low enough to be just steps away from our private beach. We have wonderful neighbors, but our property is so private that you may never see them. Constructed of cedar logs and situated on 1.1 park-like acres with over 200 feet of no bank private water front, our spacious home feels like a resort lodge. The house includes 4 large bedrooms plus a loft, a bright well-equipped kitchen, a large open living area with floor to ceiling windows, a recreation/home theater room, and a large jacuzzi/soaking tub. We can sleep 6 in real beds. A 4th bedroom is currently used as a study, but can hold a queen air mattress to sleep 8. The loft holds a double futon to bring the total to 10. A large dining table just off the kitchen on the expansive deck provides a great spot for alfresco dining. Our study is equipped with a large built-in desk, high speed internet connection and printer. In addition, we have high speed wireless access throughout the house. With lots of southern exposure the house is bright and sunny year round, offering spectacular views from almost every room. There is no shortage of recreational activities. Two kayaks and a small aluminum fishing boat with electric motor are available to explore the water in our backyard. If you'd like to bring your own ski boat, we have a dock and one of the few private boat launches on the lake. Our spacious private beach is double the size of most other lakefront properties in the area. It includes a large dock, fire ring, two picnic tables, a BBQ, lots of seating and plenty of space for waterside relaxation and games. As is true with most properties in our section of the lake, the house is set across the road from the beach and at a slight elevation, which affords stellar views, peace and privacy. The beach is just steps across a very low traffic, quiet road and can be accessed via a set of stairs from the house. Those with mobility issues can conveniently drive right up to the beach. On rainy days, you can choose from a large library, a wide selection of family games, or a home theater room with a 62' television, X-Box 360 and a large collection of video games, Blu-Ray and DVDs. On the main level, the large open living room has a stereo, but no television, and is a great place to curl up with a book by the fireplace or just enjoy the panoramic view through the floor-to-ceiling windows. There are many great spots to escape with a good book or just to enjoy the view and the wildlife (eagles, deer, and geese are all frequently sighted). You can also fish from the dock or enjoy a scenic walk on the 3 mile long lakeside trail that starts a short stroll from our home. Keep in shape with a well-equipped home gym (elliptical, recumbent bike, free weights and squat rack). Take a bike ride along the lake. Golf on one of Bellingham's many excellent courses. Ski or snowboard at Mt Baker. Or best yet, simply relax on the expansive deck with family, friends and your beverage of choice. Whatever your interest, there is something here for everyone in every season.
