This cottage is located adjacent to pristine Crown Land, with plenty of options for hiking, enjoying nature, and trying to spot wildlife in their natural habitat. Being surrounded by forest, gives you the utmost privacy during your holiday. The cottage property has an 'Algonquin feel' to it, particularly since the border of Algonquin Park is practically a stone's throw away and is accessible via canoeing and portaging. Tasso Lake is excellent for swimming, fishing and canoeing and the cottage's western exposure provides you with breath-taking sunset views. This cottage is an excellent escape from the craziness of life as you can focus instead on quality time together and outdoor fun. Arriving you'll find that the driveway is above the cottage - you'll park above and take the flight of 88 steps down to the cottage. There is a handrail the full length down to the cottage and the staircase is made up of wooden steps that lead into a small trail. Inside the cottage the kitchen has many of the amenities of home, so you can still prepare meals with ease. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, stove/oven, microwave, kettle, dishes, pots and pans and more. The dining table can seat six for a sit-down meal together. Just adjacent to the kitchen is the living room space with a great wood stove so you can take the chill out of the air on a cooler day. Baseboard heaters also provide warmth if you're renting in the shoulder season. There is a TV with a DVD player, and there's a CD player too. Unwind while watching your favourite movies at the end of the day, after you've realized a new appreciation for nature and for being 'disconnected' for your holiday. For sleeping arrangements the cottage has 2 bedrooms plus a loft with additional beds. The two bedrooms each have a double bed while up in the loft you'll find a king size bed and a single bed as well as a double futon. The cottage bathroom is a three-piece with a shower. Get out on the deck and enjoy the fresh air. There's a patio table with an umbrella and six chairs and a propane BBQ to cook up a family feast. Or take a seat on either of the Muskoka chairs with a book and your favourite beverage or swing yourself to sleep in the hammock. Heading down to the lake you'll follow a trail and 10 wooden steps that will get you to the shoreline. Tasso Lake offers you clean, clear water for great swimming. The bottom is a mix of sand and gravel/rock and the water gets deep quickly (life vests are available for your use). The dock is 20 ft long and you can swim right off the end of it, as it is approximately 5 ft deep there. For further enjoyment of the lake there is a canoe, so launch it off the dock and get out on the water to explore! You can access neighbouring Blue Lake via canoe and take in the beautiful rock face scenery. Or if you're willing to portage you can access Camp Lake and then portage right into Algonquin Park. After a day of exploration, come back to the cottage and settle in by the campfire for an evening of roasting marshmallows and telling stories. For daytime adventure, take the drive into Huntsville and check out the local arts and entertainment scene or stop by for groceries, supplies, or eating out - all of which are available in Huntsville.
