Thanks to the Air Force, much of her family's growing up years was spent in Colorado – skiing, snowboarding, 4-wheel driving, water rafting, hiking, camping, exploring -- celebrating the best of amazing Colorado. Her boys and their families never left the area. Jessie's graduate education from the University of Colorado, Boulder, led to a career in Corporate Training and Development which in turn, led to worldwide assignments with Hewlett Packard and Motorola. Even though her last position, CEO of a software company specializing in tools for human resource development, brought her to reside in Chicago, the family regularly gathers for bonding time where their heart is -- Colorado. In 2005 they decided to re-establish a home base in Allenspark. They fell in love with this adorable vintage 1950's log cabin in the middle of everything they enjoy of the Rockies. It is perfect for antiques, quilts and woodsy furnishings where wildlife is abundant and the space is mountain-clean. The family of ten absolutely loves the cabin and, because of that, believes that everyone will. They are thrilled to share the mountain experience with others, hoping that all will enjoy laughter and love there and build indelible joyful lifelong memories. One special thing to love about this cabin is its cheerful brightness. During the day, the interior basks in sunlight streaaming through its generous number of large windows which look out to woods and mountains. At night with the curtains drawn, the cabin is aglow with golden lamp light. A treasure in the village is the Meadow Mountain Cafe -- known far and wide for its fresh food, homemade bread, scrumptious breakfasts. Our guests have enjoyed an amazing assortment of wildlife at the cabin. Elk, wild turkeys, mule deer, coyote, bear, chipmunks, rabbits, and ermine have been reported. We know it is a perfect place for families to enjoy their time together, so we've stocked it with dress-up clothes, toys, movies and games. The cabin also has high speed wireless internet access and TiVo which complements the satellite TV so you can record your favorite shows while you're out playing. Due to its auspicious natural location on the bend of the river guests enjoy more sun during the day and greater exposure at night to see the myriad of shooting stars and numerous planetary wonders nestled under towering aromatic Colorado Pines. Three-hundred years ago four different Indian tribes made this area their home during the winter months. There is tranquility in the air and various rock outcroppings that allow the imagination to flow in sync with the pleasing musical like gushing or gurgling sounds of the river ( the gushing or the gurgling depends of the time of the year) In this marvelous environment one's body and mind simply relaxes.  There is something here to discover for the whole family all year round: from fishing, panning for gold, front yard camping, hiking trails galore, river bathing (for the hearty), swimming in nearby lakes, skiing, hot spring visits, sun bathing, regeneration, healing, inspiration, and fun. The cabin has room to park 3-4 Cars and is ideally situated directly on the bend of the Saint Vrain River on the edge of the Roosevelt National Forest central to Estes Park and other nearby desirable locations including Boulder, Nederland, Longmont, Fort Collins, Cheyenne, and even DIA. ( Denver International Airport) Horseback riding: Stables in Allenspark, Wild Basin Area and Estes Park, 5 miles, 10 miles and 21 miles away respectively. Rock Climbing: A fun area called Iron Clads 4 miles away, entrance to Longs Peak and the trail to the Diamond is 12 miles away. The famous Lumpy Ridge area with Twin Owls and Sundance in Estes Park about 23 miles away. Skiing: Eldora Ski area about 30 minutes away just beyond Nederland; cross country skiing at Camp Dick 10 minutes down Route 72 just past Peaceful Valley. Rocky mountain National Park entrance at Wild Basin has great cross country skiing and snow shoeing too.   Fishing: Fish along the Middle Saint Vrain directly in the back yard; Lilly Lake is a Gold Medal Fishery 15 miles down Highway 7. There is famous Estes Park Lake where it is not uncommon to feel the powerful hits and massive runs of enormous brown trout. Northern Pike and Tiger Muskies are also in abundance. And of course there are many streams and lakes in the Park if you like to walk where very few people go.   Shopping, Dining and Antique Shops: Along the 21 mile stretch from Raymond to Estes Park you'll find many cafes and restaurants, antique stores and souvenir shops. Be sure to check out Allenspark and the Wild Basin area of Rocky Mountain National Park. Lyons (15 miles south of the cabin) also has good restaurants, groceries and cool bars with live music.   Then there is Boulder: With a plethora of Street Performers entertaining large crowds on 'the Mall' and an Overabundance of Restaurants from fancy to ethnic to downright american Burger joints. On the '29th Mall' you find exclusive Close and shoe Stores and Boulders own Apple Store. Kids Stuff: Estes Park has a couple mini golf, go-carts, big slide and games places. When we go there with kids they never tire of it.

About the owner: The owner family (consisting of parents, two grown boys and their small families) regularly gathers for bonding time where their heart is -- Colorado. Scattered around the US and abroad, they decided to re-establish a home base in Allenspark in 2005 -- skiing, snowboarding, 4-wheel driving, water rafting, hiking, camping, exploring -- celebrating the best of amazing Colorado.. They fell in love with this adorable vintage 1950’s log cabin in the middle of everything they enjoy of the Rockies. The family of ten absolutely loves this cozy, romantic, and spacious cabin and, because of that, believes that everyone will. They are thrilled to share the mountain experience with others, hoping that all will enjoy laughter and love there and build indelible joyful lifelong memories.

At night, the possibilities of a myriad of shooting stars and numerous planetary wonders tantalize the mind. You can experience all of this because we're located in the midst of the Roosevelt National Forest region, central to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as other nearby desirable locations including Boulder, Nederland, Longmont and even DIA.  Three-hundred years ago, four different Indian tribes made the area their home during the winter months. There is something here to discover for the whole family all year round: from fishing, panning for gold, front yard camping, hiking trails galore, interesting rock formations, river bathing (for the hearty), swimming in nearby lakes, skiing, hot spring visits, regeneration, healing from stress, inspiration, and fun. Explore, hike and fish with your whole family (and pets) or relax and romance with a loved one on the patio. The Entree, Living room, eating area, and kitchen are all one large area. That's why we call it a roomy 1,000 square foot cabin. It has a Norwegian style stone fireplace in the living room and a wood burning stove in the master bedroom for ambiance; this bedroom has a private half bath and a large closet. The second bedroom hosts two handcarved twin size beds. There is an adjoining full bathroom with bathtub and shower. The living room we call a virtual bedroom since it has a sleeper sofa and offers privacy during the night once everyone has gone to their respective bedrooms. Whoever in the group, who likes to stay up late, read, watch TV, Internet browse, snack from the refrigerator, and have a view of both the river and wooded area will love this sleeping accomondation. Interaction with GuestsSince we, the owners are a close drive from the cabin, we're available for support if need be, however, in your confirmation information, there are explicit directions on how to get into the cabin, as well as, how to leave it after your restful stay. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is tucked away in the mountains some 20-30 minutes to the next real grocery store. ( Estes Park, Lyons, and Longmont). There is, however, a small country store within fifteen minutes walking distance (with erratic opening hours) for picking up odds and ends or satisfying a sweet tooth. We share Riverside Drive with other single private cabins on both sides of the road and across the river so please be conscientious of noise after 10:00 PM. Be mindful of wildlife, we're in the Colorado Rocky Mountains after all. The wings of the local hummingbirds may hum all day long, as they search out flowers or designated feeders hanging from the eaves of the cabin. On rare occasions, a bear might wonder along the river ‘hunting' for said hummingbird feeders. Although this is rare and a welcome exciting event for some of our guests, simply be mindful of wildlife, providing them space in their natural environment. Getting AroundNo public transit here. A Car is required in our nook of the woods. Other Things to NoteA high-speed WiFi connection is available and cost-free. Your smartphone can be connected to it for WiFi calling.
