The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, with a gated entrance. No drive-through traffic, no crowds. Getting AroundGuests will need a car. Within walking distance are good restaurants, a well-stocked wine store, and a gas station with basic food items. Beaches, grocery stores, and popular tourist destinations are an easy drive away. Other Things to NoteThere are plenty of nearby destinations for those looking for an active vacation. Public beaches are a 15 minute drive to Alligator Point across the bay, or for the adventurous, a one hour drive to St. George Island, rated one of the best beaches in the world. More than 300 species of native and migratory birds have been observed on the island. Another great spot for viewing wildlife is the Wakulla River, a short drive down the road where turtles, manatees, various birds, and other wildlife can be viewed up close from canoes and kayaks. Also close by are the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, the St. Marks bike trail, the Ochlockonee River State Park, and Wakulla Springs to name a few. For shopping and more good restaurants, historic Apalachicola is within driving distance and is close to St. George Island. The St. James Bay Golf Resort can be found on the way. Tallahassee, Florida's state capital, is also a one hour drive.
