This caboose has been artfully remodeled from top to bottom. The iron base and beautiful aged hardwood floors were preserved, whilst new walls and a higher ceiling were built in the style of the original Great Northern caboose. This caboose is spacious and luxurious, which can sleep up to eight guests, but is better suited for two-to-six guests. There is a queen-size bedroom, and two sets of single bunk beds are just around the corner. On the back side of the caboose a kitchen, bathroom have also been added. The kitchen has a four burner stove, coffee maker, coffee grinder, dishes and cookware, toaster, refrigerator -- perfect for glampers everyday cooking needs. The enlarged living room has a leather sofa sleeper with memory foam mattress, and two leather side chairs. A Sony TV sits on the base of an antique stove. Glampers will find a collection of DVD's, but no TV reception. Board games, books, and puzzles are also provided for those rainy afternoons. Both the living room and bedroom windows offer expansive views of the beautiful Puget Sound.A small dining table and six chairs are provided, as well as an outdoor picnic table, so glampers are never short of places to sit comfortably whilst eating. A large outdoor fire pit near the bank is where guests can cook on the charcoal grill provided, and roast marshmellows on the fire overlooking Hamersley inlet. Other amenities include a washer and dryer, and towels and bedding are provided.

The SpaceThis is a wonderful piece of property to enjoy right on the water. The cabin sits on 104' of Hood Canal waterfront facing the Olympic Mountain range. This saltwater is the warmest water in the Northwest. During certain seasons there is crabbing, shrimping and fishing. Great for boating, swimming, (digging clams and picking oysters limits per Washington State Fisheries). We provide a row boat and a paddle boat for your use. It has a boat ramp, dock and buoy if you have a boat. Loads of parking room and even a basketball hoop is available. Extra parking on highway. Interaction with GuestsI also live on the Hood Canal just a 1/2 mile down the street so I am available for any questions or concerns-otherwise you are on your own. There's just one extra rule-ENJOY YOUR STAY! The NeighborhoodThe neighbors are all private owners so please respect their privacy also. It is a nice private neighborhood, but a lot of them are just summer people so they are not there all the time. The cabin sits off the road on the water so it should be relatively quiet especially if you keep the electric gate shut. Getting AroundThere is a Dial a Ridge through Mason County Transit if you need a ride. Otherwise there is Uber in the area. Other Things to NoteThere are several restaurants in the area. Alderbrook has two, Robinhood has music a couple days a week, 2 Margaritas, Union River Grill, Caspers Pizza & Barbeque and Union River store has meals, delicious seafood dips, ice cream and much more. Plus there are many more fast food places and taverns in Belfair which is only 5 miles. There are also motor boat and sail boat rides at Alderbrook. We have two State Parks one 2 miles away and one on North Shore Road-across the other side of the canal. There are hundreds of hiking spots. Elegant 3 bedroom home on hood canal and over 150 feet of private, waterfront property. In the late spring, summer and early fall, the salt water is warm and perfect for waterskiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or just diving in for a refreshing swim. You might see a seal, maybe two of them. Our raft will be out in the summer and is perfect for "dock starts" if waterskiing, jumping off of, or just for sunbathing. Often, you will awake to see seals have used the raft for their resting spot overnight, but they leave soon after the sun goes up. We have a large pickle ball court, basketball court and ramp to put your boat in. Put one of our crab pots out & pick out some oysters from our beach & you are all set for a delectable dinner. Winter time is cozy to cuddle up and read a good book, watch the various birds migrate, play cards or board games with family and friends. Alder brook Resort is just 7 miles south of our home. They have a world class spa and delicious northwest cuisine. I grew up on Bainbridge Island and spent many summers on the canal at my grandparents home. It is my slice of heaven out here. When the tide comes all the way up in the evenings; there is a period I call the "Magic Hour". It is Divine. Enjoy.
