The SpaceDISCLAIMER: This is a working goat ranch, with all the accompanying strong animal smells and 24-hour animal sounds, along with an active guard dog. Our antique house with its modern guest facilities is built on a steep rock outcropping—fantastic views of the mountains, LA, and the coast, but also lots of very steep, uneven stairs. We have a large, but loving, dog—an English Mastiff/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix—to protect the property and our 30 goats from wildlife, including mountain lions on the perimeter. There is no danger to guests from any wildlife, although we do prohibit pets for this reason. This unique place is intended for adventurous people, not those looking for a polished cabin or a “dude ranch”. Before booking, please be sure you’re game for a mountain adventure and would also like to learn about milk goats and their food products, along with other home crafts practiced here. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask before you book. My brother, girlfriend and myself live in the front half of the house, you probably won't see us a lot but we're there if you need anything. There may be one or two other Airbnb guests staying at the house as well but there is plenty of space and privacy for everyone. The NeighborhoodWe are fairly high up in the mountains giving you just enough space from the city, but still close enough to catch a movie and a bite in Old Town, a Saturday morning game at the Bowl or a night out in Downtown. The wonderful thing about living in Altadena is the close proximity to the mountains. You can literally walk up the street and find yourself under a waterfall or at the top of Inspiration Point. The amount of trails in the area is phenomenal and ranges from easy to difficult hikes that everyone can enjoy! Getting AroundThere is a Gold Line stop 5 minutes down where you could park your car/bike and take the train into Downtown. There is also a bus that comes all the way up Fair Oaks, a short walk away. It is most convenient to have a car, which will have a designated spot to park!
