The SpaceTime seems to stand still in this great expanse and there is an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquility.
This gorgeous 3 bedroom house is located in my mother's ancestral Berber village at the foothills of the Atlas mountains, 35 minutes drive on Guemassa Road southeast of the City of Marrakech.
The house has three bedrooms, two downstairs and a large domed room upstairs which provides 360 degrees views of the village and nearby hills and mountains and has a large balcony.
There is also a large terrace upstairs with day beds, Moroccan couches and bright Berber rugs where one can relax and enjoy the scenery and the tranquility of the surroundings under a large white canopy/tent.
You can enjoy the freestyle bohemian garden of olive and palm trees, vineyards, various fruit trees and plants.
The house has one full bathroom and two toilets. It has also a large high ceiling garage.
There are bicycles that you can use for free.
Other amenities include electricity, hot water, refrigerator, washer and TV. Wireless internet (3 G) and mobile phone networks are available.
A Cook/housekeeper is available, if you need one, for a small charge and so is a guide/driver if you also need his/her services but you need to make reservations in advance.
Enjoy the wild and open spaces, the high desert plateau and lush valleys in the foothills of the Atlas mountains.
The scenery is amazing. This is a great country for hiking and trekking.
The thousand years old Berber village is located at a crossroads between the city of Marrakech, the Atlas mountains and the Atlantic coast and cities of Essaouira/Mogador and Agadir.
You can enjoy the amazing landscapes, mountain views and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Berbers.
Activities include trips to nearby Lake Takarakoust for fine dining by the lake shores and other activities or the old port city on the Atlantic, Essaouira/Mogador, famous for its fort, beaches, water sports and especially for its bohemian lifestyle..
Hiking and trekking starts right from the doorstep. You can also do some cycling (two free of charge bicycles), exploring the valleys and ancient Berber dwellings. Visit the weekly souks/markets and mingle with the locals.
The house was in 2015 the site for the upcoming movie "The Night Manager" (BBC/AMC/Ink Factory) based on John le Carre's espionage novel by the same title.
The village is a great base for hiking/trekking in the foothills of the Atlas mountains and sightseeing. And for travelers passing by on their way south or east seeking to explore the South of Morocco, you would love the tranquility and the vibrance of this village. You may wander through the ancient dwellings of Berbers, centuries old irrigation system (Khattarat) and olive groves. There are few travelers and very few expatriates living here in this hidden valley.
Once you start hiking, you will only encounter sheep herds, white tailed foxes and other wildlife as well as various types of birds. There are weekly souks nearby where you can meet the natives, buy local Berber rugs, straw mats and other locally made products and handicraft.
The rural house is located 35 km southeast of Marrakesh with gorgeous views of mountains, hills, river beds and olive groves. If you drive east towards the mountains through the rolling hills on the scenic country paved road, where you rarely will encounter another car, there is the serene nearby Lake Takarkoust. The road towards the lake has barely any traffic except for the occasional sheep ... rolling hills, canyons , lush green river beds and valleys, mountain views and blue skies.
In the nearby Sunday Souk you can get some good bargains and meet the natives from the various villages and towns of the region. Nearby village center (Larba'a Frouga / Guemassa) has taxi and public bus stops, several stores and cafes, a gas station, a mechanics' garage, a pharmacy and a health clinic.
If interested in weekly, monthly or long term house rental, we can offer you special prices.
