Just a walk down the private stairs leads you to Beach Walking, Boating, Kayaking or Clamming. The quiet road in front of the cabin is a one mile loop that is popular for walking, cycling, or jogging. Currently the store is open Wednesday through Sundays, and serves food, beer and wine, and sells limited grocery items. The store is a fun place to sit at the bar and chat with local islanders. There is also a small store at the Guemes Island Resort on the North tip of the island, that sells beer, wine, and alcohol, and limited food items (like frozen pizzas!) The SpaceOK we live in paradise. Why not stop by for a visit? We’re located on Guemes Island an 8-minute county ferry ride from Anacortes, Washington. Meaning you can avoid the long car line-up and reservations for the state ferryboats and also the big expense. Our house was custom built for us with 6 rooms open floor plan (no walls and doors, it's open). Anderson’s store for food is 1 mile south, county park is 400’ for tennis, baseball and soccer plus kids playground the second county park is 1 mile north for waterfront crabbing and cookouts and an occasional food truck. Hiking Guemes mountain is a great hike to see all of the San Juan Islands and Cascade Mountains. Here’s some other salesish stuff I cut and pasted from other folks ads in the area that sounds fancy, plus I bet you can’t guess the parts we edited… Located across the water from Anacortes, Washignton on Guemes Island we are a 5-10 minute bike ride to beaches, county parks, hiking trails, 2 island stores and waterfront pinicing and grilling. Our island we think is ideal for all visitors. It's an easy 2 minute drive from the county ferry landing to our home. Our home includes living/dining area, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, 1 upstairs bedroom with queen bed (2 people), loft, office with a full sized murphy bed (2 people) and living room. 2 bikes, books and games are also available for guests use. Our home is located on a 2.5 private wooded acreage tucked into the giant fir and cedar trees. Watch boats pass by the south end as you munch on double cheeseburgers and drink beer at Anderson’s Store. Head down to the north beach for a walk and cooking out at the county park. Go to the park 1/4 mile away for tennis and the playground. Our home is situated among firs and cedars in a quiet and tucked away location from the wind. Generally 2- 5 bar cell coverage in the house. Internet WiFi is available at the home. So in general come stay at our place, kick back and enjoy the life in the San Juan’s, plus don’t expect too much except a very relaxing vacation. Guest AccessThe entire home is yours to enjoy, you have full run of the place and property. Interaction with GuestsWe are generally out of state but easy to reach via phone, text or email. The NeighborhoodOur home is located on a 2.5 private wooded acreage tucked into the giant fir and cedar trees. Located on rural Guemes Island, about 300 full-time residents. We're an 8-minute ferry ride over to Anacortes, Washington for restaurants, farmer's market and "in town" stuff if you want. Watch boats pass by the south end as you munch on double cheeseburgers and drink beer at Anderson’s Store. Head down to the north beach for a walk and cooking out at the county park. Go to the schoolhouse park 1/4 mile away for tennis and the playground. Getting AroundA quick and easy ferry ride from Anacortes, Washington on a small Skagit County run ferry. We're a quick drive up the road from the ferry, though most everything on Guemes is quick since it's a teeny tiny island. Lot's of places for hiking and biking around the island, or heading down to the water. 2 bikes are at the house for guest use. Other Things to NoteDue to our concrete floors, open stairs and cable railings we feel that is not a good fit for people traveling with young children. Please note that we do not have any window coverings. We also do not host cats.

The SpaceOur beautifully appointed sailboat offers a fun alternative to staying in a more conventional setting; Beautiful Marina; walk to the charming town of Anacortes; shopping; whale watching tours; top drawer restaurants; doorway to the San Juan's; Our sailboat is comfortable and cozy with all of the amenities of home. If you want you can do your own cooking with our fully appointed galley. You can also read through our Cruising Log and learn about our adventures in the San Juans and the northern parts of British Columbia If your are curious you can peruse the cruising books that we have used as we have taken Singing Hallelujah North into British Columbia as far as the Broughton Archipelago (to be exact the Broughtons are located just off the mainland at the northern most part of BC). Two things make staying on a boat unique. If there is wind you can hear it whistle through the rigging. That can be somewhat daunting if you are out at anchor... wondering if the force of the wind will knock your anchor loose from the bottom. But no worries for you are safe and snug at harbor. The other thing that I thoroughly love is the gentle rock of the boat when I sleep at night. This tends to happen when the wind is up or a boat has passed by. I have found that this rocking motion is always a fun surprise for friends who by definition are landlubbers :). For those of you who love music, we have a great Boze entertainment system on board and we have an IPOD hook up ... so bring your music. PLEASE NOTE: there is a slight increase in the nightly rate as we will need to refill the water tanks and pump out the holding tank. That needs to be done weekly. We have it all; great restaurants, interesting shops as well as Art Galleries. If you want you can catch a bus and take the Washington State Ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island or stop off and visit the town of Orcas on Orcas Island, just off the Ferry landing. One of my favorite suggestions is to take one of the whale watching tours that will give you a front row seat to watch the Orca whales playing and feeding. The Sea lions are always fun to watch too and of course the seals are always popping up to take a look at the world passing them by. Other than all the above you can also relax in the Cockpit of our boat... read a book...bask in the sunshine with a glass of wine to add to the overall relaxing and gentle rock of Singing Hallelujah created from the wakes of other boaters going out for a short adventure. We will not be present but will have someone available should there be any problems. If you do have problems call us at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or text us at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and we will get someone there to help where needed. The Marina is absolutely beautiful. There is a great restaurant (Anthony's Homeport) at the entrance to the Marina where guests can eat or enjoy happy hour. The Whale Watching excursions should not be missed. Anacortes is a small Artsy Town with delightful art galleries and gift shops. Saturday Market just walking distance from the boat is also lots of fun with interesting food, vegetables, and crafts... not to mention the people. You can walk just about everywhere and there is lots to explore Parking is at the top of the marina; first come first serve. There is a short walk to where the boat is moored. Island buses are available. The Washington State Ferries are about 15 miles away. You can either drive on or walk on. The Ferries take you to the Charming towns of Orcas and Friday Harbor. It is also fun to watch the Marina boat traffic coming and going. Please note: I am charging more for longer stays...not much but will have to service the boat more than once. etched glass divider between the Galley(kitchen) and Salon(living area); Original Gorham Indian print hanging on the Salon Bulkhead(Wall); Boze Entertainment center for CD,s IPOD and DVD's; Large Cockpit(outside seating area) as well Guest AccessThe entire boat is at your disposal Interaction with GuestsWe live 3 hours away. However I do check my texts and emails if you should have any questions. If you need me to call you please text me and I will call back as soon as possible. Being that we live in the mountains I don't always get my phone calls but I do check my texts regularly and well get back to you promptly when I see that you are trying to reach me. Text at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) The NeighborhoodYour accommodations are on the water. You will rub shoulders sometimes with other boaters coming on and off the boat. They are neat folk and sometimes a bit unusual but fun. You are minutes from town but don't realize it when you are the boat. People are willing to talk and will happily answer any questions you might have. It's just a different environment and one everyone should experience. I have had many guests say that staying on "Singing Hallelujah" was the best kept secret in town and well worth the money to experience this type of life style. Getting AroundYou are just blocks away from local transet. There is a bus schedule on the boat. I have suggested that one could take the bus to the Washington State ferry which by car is 20" from the marina. You can walk on as a foot passenger and enjoy the wonderful town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. You could also take you bikes as a walk on and do a bike ride through some of the other Islands. There is a moped rental as well as kayak rentals close to the Marina Offices. Other Things to NoteRain or high winds could affect you stay but don't worry about it. Check the weather and bring rain gear to stay warm as you walk on and off the dock. Don't worry however you will always be safe at the dock. It is actually kind of fun to feel the slight rock of the boat and hear the wind blowing through the rigging.

For the adventuresome, there are walking/running paths through the woods behind the wetlands, maintained by the school district. Great for a morning or evening walk. The whole area is very safe and crime-free. Interaction with GuestsI am not providing a full "B and B" experience with breakfast, although if I have time I may have breakfast goodies available. I list my maximum stay for 2 nights as I still work full time, leaving me little time to interact with my guests although I love to chat if I'm present. If you need extra nights' accommodations, feel free to ask. The NeighborhoodIt's quiet, it's safe and it has all the amenities I need close by. There are beaches to stroll, hikes to explore and pubs to enjoy with live music some where most nights. Terrific small owned-by-the- chef restaurants that specialize in local foods served healthy. We have four main city parks/playgrounds along with a 200 acres beach/woodland Washington Park with camping and boat launch, along with a separate 200 or so acres of hike-able, bike-able Anacortes Forestlands with a regionally famous rock climbing mountain face, all encompassing some 5 pristine lakes. SKAT also ties in to the free Island Transit (Whidbey and Camano Island) system on Hiway 20 at March's Point out by the refineries. All systems meet at the regional Transit Center at downtown Mt Vernon on Interstate 5/Kincaid St exit--county transit system buses, greyhounds, and trains. For current ferry schedules, be sure to go online at Washington State DOT, selecting ferry system as the schedules and prices change quarterly. Locally, we have several 24 hour taxi services due to temporary refinery workers. Mert's Taxi is available here locally on Fidalgo Island. From my location, it's a fairly easy walk into the downtown area for restaurants, stores or a walk around the marina.
