The SpaceCome and be part of an island community for part of your vacation. We are happy to accommodate larger families as well as small retreat events. A seven minute drive from the ferry dock and beaches, or a 10 minute walk to the lake, you feel the water everywhere. You will find a family vacation home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Both bedrooms have queen beds. Sleeping loft with queen sofa sleeper. The loveseat in the downstairs bedroom is also a twin sofa sleeper. Spacious great room with views of the golf course and abundant wildlife. Quiet island retreat with many family activities just minutes from your door, including golfing, swimming, hiking trails, beach combing and water sports. The island is accessible by public car ferry from Steilacoom WA. Once on the island, the pace of life slows down and you can enjoy the local gatherings, the Community Farm with Saturday Market, no stop lights as well as plenty of places to just be quiet. A special amenity is our custom built wet sauna. You can have your own private spa experience after a busy day of nature play or sport activity. Anderson Island is the southern most island in Puget Sound. It is accessible either by public ferry or by private boat. The ferry is a 20 minute ride from Steilacoom, WA, which is located about 40 minutes south of Seattle and 30 minutes north of Olympia. (URL HIDDEN) There is public transportation to the ferry dock using the Pierce Transit bus system. (URL HIDDEN) The ferry ride itself is the beginning of your beautiful stay on Anderson Island. Have your binoculars ready to view porpoise and seal alongside the boat, and maybe you will be the one to see an Orca whale siting. On a clear day you will see the Olympic mountains to the west and Mount Rainier to the east as you make the 3 mile crossing. The beaches of the island abound with sea stars and sand dollars, which are visible in native beds when the tide is low. The bald eagle loves to fish along the salt water coast. The island was formed from receding glaciers, which left pebble beaches, as well as two fresh water lakes suitable for swimming and water play. Along the freshwater lakes are osprey nests and be prepared to look for the osprey as it fishes for its evening meal in the stillness of the evening. This island home is suitable for relaxation and nature activities, but it is also accessible to downtown Seattle for a day trip, or to nearby Mt. Rainier for a day hike. One just needs to be aware of the ferry times in order to return to your island retreat before the last boat so that you can rejuvenate again. The island community has one full service restaurant, one coffee shop serving breakfast and lunch, one general store with just about everything you would ever need including the gasoline and diesel pumps, two gift shops, churches, and a community center. Please be aware that there is a Washington State Lodging Tax of 9.9 % that will be charged upon arrival. You can pay with either a check or with credit card using paypal. Waiting until arrival keeps the tax to the lodging and apart from the airbnb service fee. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

And of course, there is always the opportunity for wine tasting! Interaction with GuestsAccommodation is on a working vineyard and orchard along with a micro winery and tasting room, so interaction can be as much or as little as guests desire. The NeighborhoodAnderson Island is largely rural with only a small general store. As a reminder the Cottage is self-catering, which means we do not provide food or drink. There are no grocery stores within a couple miles of the ferry landing so try and get supplies before entering "downtown" Steilacoom area. We do try to have some initial coffee and tea available as well salt, pepper ,sugar and some other spices, etc. Also the island restaurants (2) and store have limited hours or are closed some days. Its best to check the websites or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) pages of the Riviera Restaurant and Big Al's Café for hours. The store tries to carry most essentials but may be low on items some days. Here is a link to a Youtube video with some favorite spots on the island: (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundAccess to island is by regular ferry. See the Pierce County Ferry website for times and rates. The SpaceThis lower level apartment with its own entrance and parking space boasts great design, open space, and lots of activities. Every window shows a forest view that makes you feel like you're in a tree house. It has two bedrooms with queen size beds. The white bed linens are crisp and fresh and Euro style with a memory foam topping. This has been commented on by many of our guests on how inviting our beds are. More importantly, what our guests rave about is the bedding that results in a great night sleep. The Italian leather Euro fold down sofa turns into a full size bed for extra sleeping accommodations as well as ample couch space. The bed linens are located in the master bedroom closet. The fresh and bright bathroom with shower and a window looking out to the forest is with many products to choose from. More towels and products are on the shelves for your use. In the corner sits a basket overflowing with large bath towels for the hot tub or shower. The open concept great room houses, the kitchen, a dining area , big screen TV in the sitting area with Italian leather Euro sofa-bed and a comfy leather couch to surf the internet or watch cable. The galley kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, french door refrigerator and the cabinets are set up for your culinary dishes or take out meals. Of course, the great room has the pool table with windows presenting a sumptuous view of the temperate rain forest. Facing the pool table is a gas fireplace that heats the entire apartment on cool nights or cold days. Other amenities: Wireless Internet Collection of books Washer and Dryer Towels, soap, hair dryer Washer and Dryer Fully furnished with your comfort and convenience in mind Guest AccessTolmie State Park abuts the property and we have our very own trail that connects to the park's trail. We walk this trail frequently with our beautiful Golden Retriever (Charm). Out your door is your private access to the open air hot tub and deck with over hanging trees and the sky to sink into while soaking in the hot tub is the ultimate woodsy forest retreat experience. We just ask that you let us know if you want to use it so we can make sure the heat is appropriately adjusted. Interaction with GuestsThat is entirely up to you! If you're looking to be completely secluded, just let us know. Text works best for contact. Yes, even though we are upstairs, the way the home is arranged, the lower apartment is secluded. Often we don't see our guests coming and going! We have an outdoor bread oven at the front of the house and would love to share it with guests that are staying for a few days. If you're interested in having us fire it up, please just give us a heads up! We also have a dog, a Golden Retriever named Charm. She is gentle as can be and very friendly. Charm loves to meet people so if you have a fear of dogs, please let us know so we can contain her. She normally spends time outside and will definitely come down and visit you if you're having a glass of wine on the back patio. Please know we pet her all the time- she is not neglected. We say this because, all she wants is the attention and to be petted! Gentle and very good with small children. However, most of our guests never see Charm. Charm prefers to be where ever we are. But you never know. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is a secluded community near a state park. All of our neighbors are very friendly but also prefer to keep their own space. Given our proximity to the State Park, we often see our neighbors on the trails during the day! We live in a very quiet neighborhood and the only noise pollution are the thousands of frogs in the water pond next to our property. Sometimes, its' the endless bird chatter and song, too. Getting AroundPublic Transit is not easily accessible for us. We 100% recommend getting a rental car so you can get to us. We are only 7 minutes away by car from a grocery store, Costco, and several great bars and restaurants. If you are a healthy and avid bicyclist, you would happy here as well. Other Things to NoteMost are surprised at how dark at night our place is. We are on the edge of the forest and a 10 minute walk to the Puget Sound - Tolmie State Park. When it is a clear night, with little light pollution, the skies are lit up. We utilize Verizon as our carrier - those that do not have Verizon will not be able to get calls or messages. Of course, you will be able to connect with the WiFi. If you go out to the entrance to the subdivision you will get a signal. We have a landline in the apartment for your use as well.
