With 225 feet of lake frontage this property shares the end of a peninsula with one other house. It is considered one of the finest properties on Highland Lake. Attractive sitting areas, a screened gazebo and an expansive level yard all face the lake and distant views of Mt. Kearsarge and Ragged mountain. Full use of the lake is encouraged with a small shallow beach, a 30 foot dock, and available kayaks. Additionally, the spacious Andover town beach is in close proximity (several hundred yards), as is the 50 mile Northern Rail Trail (walking and biking) and a public boat ramp. Close but not too close. This is not a rental house as such; but a year-round family vacation home which is occasionally rented. The house has 1940’s charm with many updated features including an all new kitchen. The large living room/dining room has wall to wall south facing windows taking in the magnificent views while brightening the house interior. There are three well furnished bedrooms upstairs and a full bath; one of the rooms has a king bed, one a queen bed, and the third a double bed along with a bunk bed. There are two small multi use rooms off the living room and the kitchen on the main floor along with a second bathroom (with a shower). On the north side of the house is a large screened in porch. There is a washer and dryer in the basement. The house is very nicely furnished with virtually everything a renter could reasonably want.

Once home to a working artist, this comfortable and well equipped two-bedroom house is now available to bring out the artist in every visitor. Nearby Ragged Mountain, Mt. Kearsarge, and our numerous lakes and ponds, and lovely Mountain Brook will provide inspiration. Relax on the screened porch surrounded by a nearly wild garden and watch baby birds learn to fly. Enjoy the collection of books, original artwork, and antiques while relaxing in comfortable seating and queen-sized platform beds. The dining room has a roomy table that will seat everyone. The gallery has a games table with a selection of games and puzzles on one end, and a comfy sofa and TV with DVD player on the other. There is cable and wifi. Our area offers four distinct seasons of widely differing weather, conditions, and experiences from our crisp, cool autumns with their brilliantly colored autumn leaves to icy, snowy sub-zero winter conditions. Spring is lovely and summer can be hot and sultry or mild and pleasant. Two bicycles are available to ride around on the country roads, or about a mile and a half ride will take you to the Northern Rail Trail, which then offers 56 miles of biking through scenic NH countryside and villages. It is a short drive to two trails to the top 2700' Mt. Kearsarge, one easy and the other moderately challenging. Other mountains are well within range. Several lakes and ponds with beaches and boat launches are within easy reach, and our quiet country roads and trails throughout the neighborhood offer endless walking options. Ocean beaches and the spectacular White Mountains are about two hours away. Winter guests can snowshoe and cross country ski in the woods and fields just outside the front door, or rent skis for use on a nearby groomed trail system. Ragged Mountain Ski Area is 17 miles away, Mt. Sunapee is 24 miles, and many others are within range. The wicker furniture on the screened porch will entice you to spend hours lounging and watching the nesting Chickadees, and the hummingbirds and butterflies. Look for wild turkeys and deer in the field across the road and watch the fireflies and listen to the owls at night. We sometimes see moose, foxes, and other less common creatures in the neighborhood. While this house isn't wheelchair accessible one bedroom, the full bath, and all the main rooms are on one floor and parking is a level, short walk to the house entrance, which has one step. If you have special needs we will do whatever we can to help. The garden is gradually coming back after twenty years of neglect. There is assortment of culinary herbs and flowers out the front door, and a palette of perennial flowers from spring to fall. The wonderful views of forest and fields will be enriched by a foreground of colorful flowers. Country side and rural villages aside, the town of New London, about 10 miles away, offers fine dining, a range of shops, and a good summer theater. The cities of Concord, Hanover, Lebanon, and Tilton offer movie theaters and shopping.
