The SpaceThere are absolutely NO DOGS, PETS, SERVICE ANIMALS, or anything other than human beings allowed. No exceptions. Please don't ask. Now that this is out of the way....This is a "super cute cabin", at least that's how friends usually describe it. Park your car and stay put for the weekend. You can walk to the village center and enjoy our only restaurant which often has live music. Definitely every Friday and Saturday. Often on Sundays as well. If you play acoustic, and have your instrument, you could just ask and they'll probably let you play if no one else is. Cute little galleries and shops but the area is famous for it's forest hikes to the local waterfall. If you're coming in the Summer to get out of the heat, the Autumn to enjoy the fall colors, or the winter for a snowy adventure, you'll have a nice and relaxing time. Perfect place to unwind, write your book, or just get away from the hustle and bustle. It's a "tiny house" with 446 sqft of coziness. I love this place and hope you do as well. Guest AccessYou can access everything. I leave food in the cabinet and frig. If you want to eat some, please replace it with some random thing that you think another guest might like. That goes for the beer too. I love beer and look forward to sharing my brews with you and seeing what you might leave. Feel free to help yourself to a beer when you arrive. You can drink additional beer but please replace it with at least as many of any type you like. Interaction with GuestsIf you need anything or have any concerns about anything at all, send me a note, and I'll respond right away. I do not live there so you have the place to yourself. The NeighborhoodThe location of this cabin is unique in that many others are downtown which is convenient in some ways but you are also downtown. Our place is about 3-4 blocks from the village center but not on the main road. If you like to be somewhat more remote, this is a great place. Close enough to walk to town and far enough away to remind you that you're not in the Valley anymore. Getting AroundHere's the deal about local stuff to do: Walking to the village is so convenient and enjoyable. A short drive up the road will take you to the trailhead for the Waterfall hike. We like just walking in to the village to hear the live music at the local restaurant "El Mex" as the locals call it. Just know that they close early. They also serve breakfast. The little general store has a great selection of beer and has just about everything that you'll need. Coyote Unlimited and Jessica's Treasures are local artisan gift shops. If you stop in, tell them MG sent you! If you are into off-roading, there's a ranger station just down the hill. They'll give you a map of local 'roads' (trails more likely) to explore. Big Bear is about an hour up the mountain a piece if you feel the need to drive. If you like beer, like I do, you're in the right area. Hanger 24 is very close located in an old airplane hanger at a nearly abandoned airport. Hanger has a good selection and is known for their Betty IPA and Orange Wheat but they also have a solid selection of others. Additionally, Ritual Brewing is worth a taste. If you are a fan of Reds, Ritual offers their famous Red on both regular carbonation and on Nitrogen as well!! They also have a solid selection of Belgian's. If you are in town on Thursday evening, definitely check out State Street in Redlands. They have a weekly street fair from 6-9pm. Definitely a cool place. Friday's Yucaipa has a smaller version which is fun as well. It's located in Uptown in the antique/vintage store district. Drop me a note if you want more info. Other Things to NoteThis is bear country, as is all of the San Bernardino National Forest including Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, etc. That said, don't leave food outside and definitely don't throw food products outside thinking that it's ok because it's bio-degradable. I haven't seen any bears nearby but they are well known up there...and anywhere in the forest. Same goes for your car. It's just not wise to tempt our furry friends. Not really anything to worry about but it's just best to know the deal if you don't live in the mountains. You'll enjoy the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. NO DOGS!!! No cats, no birds, no service animals, no creatures other than human beings. Please don't even ask for an exception.

Another route favored by mountain bikers and hikers is found on Mountain Home Creek Road. It runs from Angelus Oaks down the historical old control road to Mountain Home Village, a 6-mile journey one way. Other activities found locally are picnicking and/or fishing along the Santa Ana River or at Jenks Lake. Seven Oaks Resort on the Santa Ana River is a fun stop for lunch, weekend music, and dinner from April to October. Photographers and artists stay busy with the hourly, daily, and seasonal changes of light and shadow and color in this area. Winter sledding and snow-play are found locally; skiers and snowboarders drive another 35 miles up Highway 38 to resorts in Big Bear Lake for a day of fun and (most days) sun. During the late fall, winter, and early spring, it's wise to carry snow chains for possible changing weather conditions.
