The SpaceThink of "country in the city" with all conveniences at your fingertips. We live across from Ann Arbor's oldest cemetery, Fairview, and have a stand a of pines to the north and east, yet it's just a 20-minute walk to downtown Ann Arbor. Our house is a 1929 Sears & Roebuck kit house and has a lot of charm and warmth. Guest AccessGuests have access to the living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. They are also welcome to cook in our kitchen, assuming that they bring their own food. In nice weather, either the front or back porches are also available. The room downstairs with the queen sized bed is our room and is a private area. Interaction with GuestsAs much as the guest would like. We listen carefully to the guest's wishes. We have often shared a meal or an evening with a solo traveler, but fully respect any individual's desire for privacy and alone time. The NeighborhoodIt is peaceful, clean, quiet, safe, welcoming and just a five-minute walk to the river! Getting AroundThe local city bus is just two blocks from my house. You can walk to downtown or campus in about 20 minutes or to a local small grocery store in about 15. Other Things to NoteWe have a super friendly dog friend, Charlie.

The SpaceThere is a queen size bed and wifi. The draperies close to make the room dark and cozy. Your private bath is directly across the hall and has a tub and shower combination. We provide you our personal taxi service. Conrad is retired and happy to drive you to nearby destinations, and then pick you up again -- that service is included in your price. He’ll pick you up and drop you off at Metro Airport for $50 round-trip or $30 one-way. No need to rent a car for your stay in Ann Arbor, whether it’s for a game, visit the kids at school, or simply to hang out in one of the most progressive and diverse cities in America. I enjoy making a healthy and hearty breakfast each morning for our guests and find it a perfect time to get acquainted. Feel free to enjoy the screened-in balcony any time of day, use our laundry or put your own groceries in the kitchen. A bus stop is a short walk away and is a straight shot into downtown Ann Arbor on Liberty Street, one of the main roads in the area. Town and campus are easily accessible from here by walking or biking also. Nearby you can walk to grocery stores or a wide variety of restaurants, including Zingerman’s Roadhouse. Here’s a breakdown of places and their distance from your room in our home: Central Campus & Downtown: 2 miles “The Big House” Michigan Football Stadium: 2 ½ miles University of Michigan Hospital: less than 4 miles Shopping center with Kroger and eateries: 1 mile. Interaction with GuestsIn the past several years we have used airbnb for lodging and had wonderful experiences, so now that we have our brand new condo, we want to pass that along to other nice folks. Come visit! We are available during your stay to recommend sites and activities, or simply to chat. And of course, Conrad's the driver for your needs while in town. I love to have cooking partners, so if that's your thing, we can have fun that way, too.

The SpaceThe house is a duplex, with two bedrooms upstairs. The bedrooms upstairs are occupied by myself and my brother, while my parents live downstairs. The space you will be renting is not shared by us, although there is a very short hallway (by short I mean about 3 steps) which leads to the bathroom. This hallway is where all of the rooms open up to. Guests have their own front entrance and will receive keys upon their arrival, so coming and going is completely independent of us. Guest AccessYou will have your own fully functional kitchen. The bathroom will only be used by you. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to interact with guests (chats in the evening, breakfast together, showing you around Ann Arbor, etc.), but again, this doesn't need to happen. We can work around your needs and won't be hurt if you prefer little interaction. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is about 1 mile (or a 20 minute walk) from downtown Ann Arbor. We have 2 parks very close to us: one is a smaller park about half a block away that includes a large field and some play structures; the other park is about 3 blocks away and has 3 baseball diamonds, 2 tennis courts, and an ice rink/swimming pool (Veterans Memorial Park). Just beyond that are a few strip malls with stores ranging from a Dollar Tree and a Value World to a Plum Market (an upscale organic store comparable to Wholefoods). Getting AroundThere is a bus stop just across the street from our house. That bus will take you downtown for $1.50. I will be more than happy to explain the bus system/show you the stops.

The SpaceWe live in a quiet neighborhood that is close to the University of Michigan. It's an easy 40 minute walk to Central Campus; even quicker on a bike (we have a spare). There are two main bus lines that pass near the house as well. Groceries stores (Trader Joes, Whole Foods) are nearby. The room has a full size bed, desk and chair, and adjacent bathroom. Our house is kid friendly but (due to allergies) not pet friendly ... at least not dogs or cats. Guest AccessYou may have access to the refrigerator, washer and dryer and to shared rooms on the ground floor of the house. The entrance into the house and your room is through a shared coat room and entry between living room and kitchen. We have an extra bicycle and other amenities as needs arise. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is charming and safe. School playgrounds and County Farm Park with running/walking trails are nearby. Getting AroundWe are situated very close to the AATA #4 and #5 bus lines, which have easy access to downtown, UM Central Campus, and Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti). Other Things to NotePlease note that we have no furry pets in the house because of strong allergies. For that reason, we cannot take in guests that bring along furry pets (e.g., dogs, cats). We also have a child with tree nut allergies and request that you keep all nut foods in your room, out of the shared spaces/refrigerator.
