The SpaceCustom built contemporary home with an unusual balance of elegance and comfort. The house is oriented to capture the expansive views of the very private yard with no neighbors in view which color the open living room, dining room, kitchen and bed room. There is a wrap around decks and a screened porch to further enjoy the views. High ceilings, exposed beams, and Cherry floors create an open and spacious atmosphere warmed by detailed craftsmanship and furnishings. Although the house is very aesthetic, it is equally functional. Central air conditioning, state of the art appliances, gourmet kitchen with a wolf stove, wireless internet, Verizon cellular extender. . . every need and want is met. The layout includes two small bed rooms, the bath room is on the main floor and has a large stone tiled steam shower. In addition to Gay Head Lighthouse & Philben Beach. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

The Space1 Bedroom guest tower available in Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard. Up Island and away from the crowds. Pricing is as follows: $125 per night April, May (except Memorial Day weekend), October and November. $150. per night Memorial Day weekend, June, September (except Labor Day w/e) $175 per night July (and last night of June) $190 per night August (through Labor Day weekend) Separate entrance and parking, shared bathroom with another guestroom. Shared OUTDOOR shower, we do not use our indoor shower in the summer, the only shower available is the outdoor shower. The shower is partially open, on the side that faces the ocean there is no partition. Please make sure you are comfortable with this. There is wireless internet but no tv in the room. Cell service is spotty AT&T has the best service. The room is in the upper level of a guest tower across the deck from the main house. The room has a stunning water view and a tree house like feel with a queen size bed. It is very private. At the top of the tower there is a hammock We live across the deck in the main house with our 9year old son and in the summer we are all working like crazy so are not home that much but you may hear the pitter patter of our son's feet on the deck in the morning. Aquinnah is a rural part of Martha's Vineyard. 35 minutes from the ferry in Vineyard Haven and the airport in Edgartown. It is home to the Wampanoag tribe and known for its beautiful clay cliffs and beaches. There is public transportation by bus once an hour and great biking and trails but a car is best in this area. It's hilly and remote. There is a market 10 minutes away (Memorial Day-Columbus Day) and a grocery store 30 minutes away. The only liquor stores are in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. The closest one is MV Wine and Spirits near the airport. Good restaurants in the area, kayak/canoe rentals available and paddle boarding, surfing, sailing etc. Great beaches! Guest AccessThe kitchen, outdoor shower, grill, own parking space, bike storage. We ask that if you use the kitchen you coordinate the timing with us beforehand and that you be out of the kitchen by 8pm. Interaction with GuestsI try to be here to greet each guest but sometimes with our busy schedules that is not possible. I will always contact the guest the day before arrival to find out ETA and if they have questions. We are frequently out at night in the summer. We are usually around in the morning to answer any questions guests might have. I've had guests join us for breakfast and play with our son and I've had guests who I've hardly interacted with at all. I go by what the guest wants. The NeighborhoodVery peaceful in the summer, far from the crowds and very close to the natural beauty of the island. We are 20 miles from the more bustling towns of Vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. There is a small market 10 minutes from our house open Memorial Day-Columbus Day. The only liquor stores are in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. The closest one is MV Wine and Spirits near the airport in Edgartown. The best grocery stores are Cronig's in Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury and Stop and Shop in Vineyard Haven and Edgartown. If you want peace and quiet This is your place, if you want towns and shopping and nightlife it's not. Getting AroundDuring the summer months there is a bus that runs once an hour to and from Aquinnah. A car is best in this area as we are far from the ferry and the towns. You can ride your bike but it is VERY hilly. There is the Menemsha Bike Ferry that runs in the summer months until Labor Day from 10am-5pm which will take you from West Basin in Aquinnah to Menemsha in Chilmark, it's a good way to get to Chilmark without riding over tons of hills. Other Things to NoteI mentioned this above in the space description but want to be clear the only shower available in the summer months is the outdoor shower. It is designed so that you can see the ocean, so on one side there is no partition it is completely open. You will be afforded privacy simply by letting us know when you would like to shower. The bathroom is also a half bath and small.

Spring, summer and fall, this inviting seaside home is a good-for-your-soul retreat. Guest AccessOur home is fully stocked with everything you need in the kitchen and to make you comfortable in the bedroom, bath and at the beach. We also have plenty of books and board games for that rainy day. Interaction with GuestsWe have a great caretaker who manages our property and is a big help should you have any questions or concerns. The NeighborhoodGrab a lobster roll, chowder, burgers, dogs and ice cream at the cliffs from Dona and Gordon at The Dream Catcher. Chilmark General Store, Larsen’s Fish Market and The Galley take-out in Menemsha are 10 minutes away by car. For groceries, Cronig’s Up-Island Market in West Tisbury is 30 minutes away by car. Our Market in Oak Bluffs delivers wine, beer and liquor to our door the same day if you call in your order by 9AM. Good restaurants in the area include Outermost Inn near the cliffs in Aquinnah (our favorite sunset restaurant), Chilmark Tavern and Homeport in Menemsha (Chilmark Tavern and Homeport are both BYOB). You can rent a boat, kayak, canoe and paddleboards from Book-A-Boat (URL HIDDEN) hidden) -- great for tooling around the ponds and fishing. Getting AroundThe Town of Aquinnah is "up-island" at the western-most tip of Martha's Vineyard. It’s a 35-minute driver from the ferry in Vineyard Haven and the airport in Edgartown. Aquinnah is home to the Wampanoag Tribe and known for its beautiful clay cliffs and beaches. Our home is 1.25 miles to both Philbin and Lobsterville Beaches and the Gay Head Cliffs. There is public transportation by bus on State Road (Aquinnah’s main drag) once an hour, and great biking along Menemsha Pond and Moshup Trail. Your own car or a rental is best in this area. This house is the perfect spot for enjoying the beauty and calm of Aquinnah. Light-filled and private, the house has multiple levels and sits on over an acre of wooded land with old stone walls and a stream running through the property. Inside, this inviting house offers wood floors throughout, a cook's kitchen and an open, floor-through living area. Outside, the cozy 1st floor deck is tucked in the woods and the roofdeck gives you front row seats to Aquinnah sunsets and views of Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands. Rental of this house includes Comcast broadband internet and access to exclusive Philbin Beach passes. Located on the western-most tip of Martha's Vineyard, Aquinnah is a destination. One of 3 up-island towns, it is the part of Martha's Vineyard Obama's family visited to do their biking and it is where Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis made her Vineyard home. On every side -- north, south, east and west, Aquinnah is abutted by water -- there is sound, surf and pond. This is a town of light, where people come to watch the sunset and it is a town of color and history, where people visit clay cliffs and the historic lighthouse built in the late 1700s. When you venture one mile east from the house you'll reach Lobsterville Beach on the Sound; travel a mile and a half west to arrive at Philbin, an exclusive town surf beach. In Aquinnah you are among Wampanoag lands and people, the famous cliffs and world-class fishing spots. Nearby are undeveloped coastal lands, rolling hills, excellent restaurants, farm stands and markets, crafts and shops. The summer activities up-island include camps and programs for children, dance performances, yoga, writing retreats, surf lessons, kayaking, sunset sails, a weekly film festival with guest speakers, talks, classes, nature tours and hiking trails. Aquinnah is a place to get away from it all, it is a place to unwind.

The Avalon was built in 1909 by William Wood. He ultimately developed the choicest sites on Cuttyhunk Island for the summertime enjoyment of family, friends and business associates. This was his first construction project on the Island. After the First World War, the home became a convalescent facility for injured soldiers. Currently, visiting doctors operate a gratis medical clinic in a portion of the house. Guests will find that the historic charm of the home has been preserved in spite of modernizations necessary to ensure the comfort of visitors. There is a billiard room, large living room with TV and "boat bar," dining room that can seat 12 and a large covered porch overlooking Vineyard Sound with the beacon of Gay Head lighthouse blinking on the far horizon. Most guest bedrooms have private baths with claw-foot tubs. Shower baths are also available for guest' use. Twin, full, queen and king beds are available and some of the larger rooms can accommodate couples with children. Shared cooking facilities are available for guests, who are responsible for their own cleanup. There is a microwave, coffee pots, fridge and commercial range i the large country kitchen. Full catering is available for larger parties. RATES: Our bedrooms are all slightly different from one another and can be rented by the room starting at $165 in the off season and $190 in the peak season. The Avalon can be rented as a whole house rental for $1325 per night in the off season and $1525 in the peak season. In this case you would get 7 rooms and exclusivity of the entire house and common area during your stay. We offer extended stay discounts for guests renting the whole house for at least 6 nights and 7 days. This weekly rate for the whole house is $5500 in the off season and $6500 per week during the peak season. We also give an extended stay rate for week long golf cart rentals: $200 per week per cart. **2 Golf Carts are available to rent during your stay. They will be reserved through the Avalon, but payment needs to be made upon arrival to Golf Car Solutions. **Pets are allowed with a non refundable fee, please inquire during reservation inquiry. **If you will be bringing young children please inquire about our policies during reservation inquiry. Additional fees may apply: - room tidy | 10 USD per day - cots | 25 USD per day - golf cart | 40 USD per day Cuttyhunk Island is only 1.5 miles long and .75 miles wide, but its natural amenities are bountiful. It is about 14 miles over water from New Bedford Massachusetts. On occasion the Avalon will host a local band for the island locals and guests entertainment, lawn dancing is permitted! The Island has long enjoyed its reputation as a fisherman’s paradise. Striped bass and blue fish are caught in impressive numbers when the tide is rising. Several charter boat captains will work diligently to see that anglers’ efforts are rewarded. When you’re not fishing, you’ll enjoy long walks among the wild flowers, a hike on one of the many beautiful trails out to the island’s West End for some of the best bird watching, a day at the beach, ice cream and a chat on the dock or cool drinks with fresh shellfish on the Avalon porch. If walking isn’t your thing, grab a golf cart...it’s the only other acceptable way to travel on the island. The pace is slow, the air is clean and nightlife is limited to stargazing. On occasion the Avalon will host a local band for the island locals and guests entertainment, lawn dancing is permitted!

A lighthouse has operated on this site since 1799, with the current 51-foot structure holding court since its construction in 1856. The site is generally closed to the public due to problems with erosion but tours of the lighthouse are given by the historical society by appointment. The lookout in Gay Head offers a good view of the lighthouse, and you can see the original fresnel lens at the Martha's Vineyard Historical Society in Edgartown. The cliffs on the westernmost end of Martha's Vineyard are an amazing sight. The Wampanoag Indians appropriately named the area Aquinnah, meaning 'High Land' because of the 150-foot high, rainbow-colored cliffs. For years the town was referred to as Gay Head because of the magnificent cliffs. The new generation of the Wampanoag tribe owns a number of shops, restaurants and acres of surrounding land. Menemsha Fish Market is the Owner's favorite spot for fresh catch and sunsets! The village of Mememsha is just 6 miles away. This excerpt is from the Martha's Vineyard Magazine: 'Menemsha is in Chilmark, but it doesn't seem of Chilmark. There is no three-acre zoning in Menemsha, no private beaches with six-figure keys, no massive estates nestled secretly in the wooded hills down rutted dirt paths passable only by Land Rovers. The drama in Menemsha plays out in full view, and is accessible by bus. There are cheap eats, a little beach, public bathrooms, piles of junk lying about, and gas station coffee. People in shorts and flip-flops walk down the warm planks of the dock, licking soft-serve cones, and ask him about his task................... ...........What would Menemsha be without fishermen at work?........The goal: “To maintain the visual character of Menemsha as a small fishing village.” And “Assure the priority of commercial fishing boats [over] pleasure craft.”............ ...... The sand and water are popular all day, but sunset is the star attraction. You can pick up a boiled lobster to take to the beach for dinner (order ahead), and sit on the cooling sand to watch the sun descend into the sea near Cuttyhunk. There are over 3 miles of foot trails that lead past ancient stone walls through blueberry woodlands to the beach. Cuttyhunk Island is a magical place, 8 miles from the mainland, accessible by ferry from New Bedford. My house is locatedtwo blocks from the general store and post office, 1/4 mile from Church's beach, and it overlooks a pond, the harbor, Copicut Neck and Buzzards Bay beyond. The house itself was built in the early 1990s and is nicely decorated and well maintained. It consists of three levels and offers a great deal of light and water views. Main entrances lead into the middle level, which includes an open-floorplan living room, dining room, sitting area; full kitchen with tiled countertops, full bathroom, bedroom and storage area. This floor is surrounded by decks on three sides, accessed by doors off the dining and sitting areas. The upper level consists of an open-floorplan master suite--bedroom, full bathroom, two closet areas, all under a vaulted ceiling—and boasts additional, outstanding water views. The lower level consists of two large walk-out bedrooms, each with double closets; a full bath, large storage closet, workbench and utility, laundry and house systems closets, as well as an oversized hallway. Overall, the interior offers approx 2,000 s.f. of heated living space, and the decks add approx 600 s.f. The exterior is fully landscaped and includes two covered storage areas. Cuttyhunk Island is a magical island, located 8 miles off the Massachusetts coast, in Buzzards Bay, accessible by ferry from New Bedford, with views of the MA and RI coasts and Martha's Vineyard and Noman's Island. The house is an updated modern house located within walking distance of the ferry, the general store and post office, and the islands two beaches. It is a very family-friendly place.
