The house is located in the village "Ano Pedina", ideal starting point for the journey of initiation into the secrets of Zagori, and provides easy access to other settlements (such as Aristi, Papigo, Vitsa, Monodendri, Koykoyli, Kapesovo, etc). It is 35 Km from Ioannina and about 7 Km from the Vikos Gorge.
Zagorohoria are a unique residential, historical and cultural union of 46 villages north of Ioannina basin in the northwest extremity of Pindus.
Zagori is divided geographically into three sections: the Central, West and East Zagori with twenty, ten and sixteen villages respectively.
Today Zagorohoria keep intact their cultural heritage in an attempt to continue the traditions and customs of the region. The distinctive architecture, traditional music, the natural beauty, the wild beauty of the mountains and the rich flora and fauna of the area are the characteristics that make it stand out.
‘Ano Pedina’ is an old, traditional village that retains its original architectural character, without subsequent surgery. It is located in a relatively short distance (35 mm) from Ioannina, almost on the new road that connects the West with the Central Zagori.Its location in the center of Zagori, provides easy access to other settlements (such as Aristi Papigo Vitsa Monodendri, Koukouli, Kapesovo etc).
Picturesque village is built among five hills around a cold stream - hence ‘Soudena’ the old name of the village (it's Slavic word meaning "cold place").
The special feature of the settlement of ‘Ano Pedina’ are dozens threshing, the grain storage huts and feed that surround their homes. Almost every home has a threshing floor, but since 1970 no longer used.
It is one of the beautiful villages of Zagori, offering easy access to major attractions both in the village and the surrounding area (such Kokoris Bridge, Rogovos Monastery, Vikos Gorge, Astraka, Oxia, etc).
Inside the village there is Lampriadeios School, ‘Evagelistria’ Byzantine monastery, the church of St. Demetrius, with magnificent frescoes and murals, the monastery of Agia Paraskevi, mansions and public buildings, such as schools, chapels that are scattered around the village, etc.There are also several taverns, a 'cafe' and several hotels.
At a distance of 6 km is the Vikos Gorge, and 8 km o Voidomatis River.
Today Ano Pedina is the most populated villages in Zagori. It has about 100 residents, including many young people.
