The SpaceLhasa House at Chakra Garden is a charming studio cottage with a zen-like atmosphere, unique privacy and its own street entrance. The property is only 0.5 mile north of Ashland's downtown Plaza, gateway to most Ashland landmarks (Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, unique shopping, and sophisticated cuisine).
Lhasa House is located on the grounds of a vintage home built in 1884. The nearly 0.4 acre lot has allowed us to create a garden environment that serves as a healing sanctuary and pleasure space. We call it Chakra Garden of Ashland.
property’s interior gardens are developing into a healing sanctuary. We, Dr. Zeb Lancaster & Candace Cave, are yogic body-mind healers in private practice.
Originally a mechanics garage built in the 1930’s, Lhasa House is a 400 sq ft building we made comfortably habitable in 2012. You’ll discover bamboo floors in the spacious main room, an entry lobby that doubles as a dressing room with coat & shoe caddies, an elegant bathroom with tiled shower, and a cozy kitchenette (microwave, toaster oven, mini-fridge/freezer). The mini-split HVAC keeps the space at a comfortable temperature throughout the year. There is Wi-Fi for your connection convenience and no television to distract you from a quiet life lived in the present moment.
Lhasa House sleeps as many as 4 people: two upon a comfy Englander Pillowtop queen bed and two upon Ikea’s queen size convertible sofabed (made more comfortable with a sheepskin pad). Sheets are 300+ thread count organic or Egyptian cotton. Towels are thick and plentiful (3 per person).
Lhasa House’s soothing interior is supported by personally gathered artifacts and breathtaking photos from Lhasa, Tibet.
Lhasa House has ample, safe street parking right in front of the door.

The NeighborhoodLhasa House is on the grounds of Chakra Garden, a vintage Ashland property in the historic Skidmore Academy District. We're 4-blocks north of Ashland's Downtown Plaza, the heart of our village activity. There's an ally (Lori Lane) at the base of the grounds (near Lhasa House front door) that connects Hersey St to Van Ness. Van Ness is a quiet neighborhood street with charming houses, mostly built in the early 1900s, that leads to the A Street corridor and the Bear Creek bike trail. It's a great location, very central to the "heart" of Ashland's village community - the Plaza & Lithia Park (+OSF). Getting AroundChakra Garden is easy walking distance (10-15 minutes) from all major attractions in Ashland (Lithia Park, Oregon Shakespeare Theater, world-class dining and shopping). You can walk to the Plaza on Main Street, or stroll through neighborhood houses. Ashland Natural Food Coop is only 5-blocks away and there's a mini-market a block down the street. A RVT bus stop is across the street and bus number 10 will take you south to the University and north all the way to Medford. Ask us about borrowing our old bikes (there's also nearby bike rental shops) - the Bear Creek Greenway for biking and hiking runs 27+ miles north from Ashland and is about 0.5 mile away from us. Plus it's easy to bike all the way to the south end of town. There's also a southbound Route 10 (Medford to So. Ashland) bus stop across from the property on N. Main St. Other Things to NoteWe don't provide any food, although you'll discover a fine selection of tea bags in the compact kitchenette. There's not room or appliances to cook a major meal in Lhasa House, but the microwave works well and the small toaster oven heats breakfast, and the fridge has it's own freezer so keeps ice cream perfectly cold. The plastic square tray hanging on the kitchenette wall is a dish drainer.
