Interaction with GuestsYou decide if you want to be on your own or if you want to interact with us. Your hostesses are Gwenny and Molly Swan, daughter and mother team, proudly providing comfortable homegrown accomadations and your guides for the inside scoop on local color and culture. Gwenny is a trend-setting purveyor of vintage clothing. She tends to know interesting goings-on in town. Molly is a professional bodyworker and herbalist and can provide massage therapy and wellness consultations during your stay. Arrangements can also be made for preparation of healthy meals. She is a world class natural food cook. The NeighborhoodOn the edge of historic downtown Athens and the University of Georgia, our neighborhood has been described as like being in Greenwich Village, southern style. (Ask us about the local history and current cultural and politically correct goings-on in the neighborhood like the Neighborhood Garden down the street managed by a homeless man.) People walk and bike around here. We love the mix of people strolling by on the street below our porch. We do a lot of porch sitting just for the fun of chatting with and waving at passers by. Getting Around2 -6 blocks easy walk on sidewalks to restaurants, grocery store, churches, downtown shops, bars, movies, farmers market, government buildings, civic center. 2 blocks to bus stops on Broad St or Prince Ave. Easy walk to UGA. The SpaceOur comfortable living room features a rustic fireplace and cozy seating area, perfect for relaxing in the evenings. The main downstairs bedroom features a queen bed with memory foam mattress, beautiful duvet, black-out drapes, and small seating area. The private upstairs bedroom provides two twin beds, so the house will easily accommodate one to four adults. The cute playroom has an array of boys, girls, and gender-neutral toys appealing to a range of ages, and you'll find extra toddler/child cots and blankets for up to six children. There is also a spacious front porch with swing, as well as a back deck facing the large, private fully fenced backyard where deer often come to visit. You’ll find plenty of parking, both in the driveway as well as on-street parking as needed. If additional bed space is needed in a pinch, the couch is large, reasonably comfortable and supportive. Guest AccessOur home is yours! While here, you’ll enjoy the fully-stocked kitchen, including a French-press coffee-maker, dishwasher, microwave, reverse-osmosis drinking water, full set of Wolfgang Puck cookware, utensils, etc. If traveling with young ones, you may also make use of the children’s art supplies and toys we keep on hand. Your rental also includes free WiFi, two bags of firewood, unlimited coffee and tea, and of course fresh, clean linens and towels. Interaction with GuestsWe will meet you at the beginning of your stay to hand off keys, answer any questions, and make sure you're comfortable! You can always call during your visit with any questions or concerns - we're happy to help! The NeighborhoodThe home is nestled in the back end of a quiet, spacious subdivision amid mature trees, and is only 15 minutes from Sanford Stadium and vibrant downtown Athens! Other Things to NoteDuring the week, I run an in-home licensed childcare business from my home. Because of this, I have safety gates for the playroom and stairs, and on some kitchen cabinets. These will be left in the open position for your visit (except the thumb-operated drawer latches - easy to open). You'll find a letter with detailed information about the home, including the wifi password, on the kitchen table when you arrive. Please note that we do not have a traditional television set. Our guests have commented that this was a nice touch, as it left them free to enjoy each other's company fully. If you do wish to watch videos or movies during your stay, you can use your Netflix, etc. accounts on your personal laptop by connecting to our wifi.

The SpacePLEASE READ HOUSE RULES FIRST. Our home has a special place in Athens music history, lots of character and a large back yard with a fire pit. Within walking distance of everything a visitor to Athens might enjoy. We welcome all nationalities, ethnicities, genders, orientations, religions, ages, sizes, and cultures here. We embrace diversity and invite all kinds of people to feel comfortable and safe in our home. NO PARTIES. Due to a recent bad experience with guests that resulted in damaged and stolen property, there are absolutely no gatherings allowed. If you are looking to book the entire house with a group, especially on a game day weekend, there is a special rate for that and we do require that the full names and DL #s of ALL guests be provided prior to booking. Mature and respectful people ONLY. If you want to get drunk and go nuts, go elsewhere. We welcome football fans and tailgaters who can hold their liquor and recognize that they are staying at someone's HOME. Repeat: DO NOT BOOK THIS HOUSE TO PARTY ON GAME DAYS WITH ALL YOUR WILD AND CRAZY FRIENDS. The person who makes the reservation is responsible for all damages and any items that go missing. We will seek compensation and file charges with the police if necessary. We keep to ourselves for the most part, sometimes you won't even see us. We give our guests as much privacy as possible and let you set the level of interaction. We have had people stay that we never saw at all, and others who shared drinks and dinner with us. It's up to you! The historic homes and easy walking access to restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife and shopping makes our place perfect for travelers who would rather not do much driving. Our neighbors are fine with groups staying here, they are aware that we have airbnb guests, and there is off-street parking for up to 4 cars. There is a bus stop around the corner from our house, and biking and walking to downtown, campus, and the stadium is a quick and easy. Our house is full of interesting and quirky collectibles, art, books, and music that our guests are free to enjoy. We especially welcome artists, musicians, and all sorts of creative types to come enjoy and be inspired by the eclectic vibe of this space. Please be mindful that we care about our things and they must be treated with respect. Guest AccessGuests may only access the main house in front, including porches and yard. If you are renting just one room, you do not have access to our main bedroom. The smaller house out back is off limits at all times. We do permit fires in the fire pit out back, provided you are responsible and keep noise to a reasonable level (our yard adjoins with neighbors' yards who can hear loud conversations). Interaction with GuestsWe are usually here, but occasionally we will be out of town during your stay. If we are here, we will accommodate your preferences in regards to how much we interact. We are always available via phone. We also have good neighbors that keep an eye on our place when we are not here. The NeighborhoodOur home borders a leafy historic district with many lovely renovated homes from the turn of the century, perfect for strolls. Within a one mile radius are restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, thrift stores, a natural foods co-op, music venues, and bars. Perfect for someone traveling without a vehicle, convenient to everything! Getting AroundThere is a bus stop a half block around the corner. We are right off of a main artery into town that is bike and pedestrian-friendly. There is also ample parking if you bring your car with you. Other Things to NoteThis is an older home with few updates and no luxuries. It's prime advantages are it's location and distinctly old-school Athens vibe. We are friendly, chill hosts who can steer you to all the interesting, off-beat places to check out in town. If you are looking for something upscale or modern, please choose from one of the other many available places in Athens.

The SpaceA large private upstairs room is lovely and newly renovated, with a luxurious queen bed, AC, heater, and WI-FI and bathroom just around the corner. Guests are free to use the farm-house kitchen, either bathroom, or hang out in other common spaces (described below) as well. From the bedroom window, looking to the south, you'll gaze out on our lovely kitchen garden. To the west, is the 100 acre forest that our group (Orange Twin Conservation Community) is working to preserve. Other shared facilities include the large downstairs common room with wood-stove and piano, a spacious and well-equipped kitchen, two bathrooms (one off the kitchen with a claw-foot tub and one upstairs with a shower), front and back porches, garden seating area with fire pit, and a washing machine, dryer, ironing board, and iron. The farmhouse is located 5 miles from downtown Athens, GA on 155 acres of land and owned by our group, the Orange Twin Conservation Community. We moved the historic house from in town to save it from destruction and added a second story. It's over 2000 sq feet and has 5 bedrooms total. At the farmhouse, we currently have 2 small hunting dogs: "Alice" and "Gertrude." A third dog "Daisy" lives with the goats. Guest AccessGuests are encouraged to enjoy any of the common spaces including kitchen, porches, living room, dining area, as well as hot tub. The downstairs bathroom has a claw-foot tub, the upstairs bathroom has a shower. Plenty of towels will be provided on shelves next to the bathroom. Interaction with GuestsIt depends on the circumstances... sometimes more interaction and sometimes very little. We're flexible. :) Getting AroundWe're a bit out of town (5.5 miles), so you'll have to drive here I'm afraid.

The SpaceBeautifully renovated with original yellow pine floors, slate tile kitchen and bath, decorative fireplaces, full bed and full futon. Up-and-coming part of town, close to artists, popular neighborhoods (Boulevard and Pulaski) the Chase Street Warehouses and 1000 Faces Coffee roaster Guest AccessOne room is closed off (my office), otherwise the house is yours. Feel free to use the kitchen (plates and cookware, french press, plenty of room for too many chefs)! High speed internet, internet tv. Interaction with GuestsI will do my best to greet you on your arrival and show you around the house. I can provide you information about the area and even show you around if you like. The neighbors are friendly, even if they look funny. I will likely be available and in town if any problems arise. I prefer to leave you to enjoy your vacation in peace and privacy. The NeighborhoodThis is a neighborhood where children still play on the street. The neighborhood is becoming heavily gentrified, it is a mix of families that have been here for years, young professionals and college students. It is a little funny and has its quirks, but it is safe, walkable, bikeable and truly a unique neighborhood in Athens. Getting AroundWe are right next to a bus route, you can walk to downtown, we are close to the loop which gives you driving access into out of and around town. Other Things to NoteI compost and recycle. If you are not comfortable with it, can not be bothered or will have a large trash burden, we can talk!

The SpaceWe have a 1960's split level home with two bedrooms and an office. All bedrooms are located upstairs. We are looking to rent the spare bedroom for anyone coming in to see what Athens, GA is all about. The bedroom has a double bed, dresser, and closet. The guest bath is off of the bedroom in the hall. We have a large den and screened in back porch for relaxing while you are here. We are located a mile from historic 5 points and about 10 minutes from downtown by car. The UGA campus is literally a stone's throw away and you can hear the cheers from Stanford Stadium on game days in the fall. Our neighborhood is quiet with a mixture of professionals, families, and students. We have easy access to a nearby park and you are a short distance from UGA's intramural fields or the State Botanical Gardens if you would like to run or walk the trails. There are shops and a restaurant at the end of our street. If you go into 5 points, you'll find a few more shops and restaurants. Athens is known for its music, but our cuisine is also making a name for itself. Chef Hugh Acheson, as seen on Top Chef, has two restaurants in Athens. 5 and 10 is located in 5 points (1 mile from our home), and he has a hand in The National located in downtown Athens. We are the home of R.E.M, the B52s, and Widespread Panic to name a few. There are several venues to catch music, including the Georgia Theater and the 40 Watt, both located downtown. Both the UGA bus and the Athens bus have a stop at the end of our neighborhood. Each will carry you into town or campus. There are also cabs available to/from downtown at reasonable prices if you do not have a car. Our town has been hailed one of the best places in the world to visit and live. Guest AccessBedroom, bathroom, kitchen, coffee maker, back porch, deck, couch in den, TV in den, dining room. Interaction with GuestsWe are here if you are renting the spare bedroom. We try to be out of the way-either working in our yard or hanging out on the back deck when the weather is nice-so that you can have as much privacy as you need. If you don't want to interact with us, we are okay with that, but we are also happy to make suggestions about where to go in town and offer breakfast one morning while you are here. The NeighborhoodIt is wooded and quiet. We are close to a park. Getting AroundUGA and Athens buses pick up and drop off at the end of the street, a short walking distance from our house. Cabs are available from downtown-just be sure to get in a yellow cab. We have gypsy cabs and there aren't any regulations on fares. You shouldn't pay more than $7.00-10.00 from downtown to our house per person. $10.00 is even on the higher side of fares. Other Things to NoteAll of our bedrooms are upstairs. We don't hangout up there much as we like our den with our couch and the back porch. We will sleep upstairs and will try to be as quiet as possible. We have an old house with squeaky wooden floors. If you are a light sleeper, we can provide ear plugs.
