This listing is for an entire home – a well decorated charming country home in a rural, natural setting. There is one bedroom: a very large bedroom overlooking the water with a king size bed and select comfort mattress and a private full bath which has been recently updated in travertine with a large walk in rainfall shower and a large soaking tub.
The house has a large open floor plan with a large living room and adjacent dining room and kitchen. Plenty of windows provide beautiful views of the water from all rooms in the house. There is a TV and DVD players in the living room (sorry, only broadcast TV, no cable). Wifi via Verizon hotspot is available by request for a fee. Kitchen is available for food preparation- full fridge, stove, oven, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, etc. Rocking chairs and a hammock on the wrap around porch provide areas to sit or lie down and enjoy this uniquely wild setting with all the comforts of home.
For up to two additional guests there is a queen size air mattress available which can be set up in the living rooms. Charge is the same ($40) for 1 or 2 additional guests. Our low country home is located adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway and in an amazing natural setting inside the Timucuan Historic and Ecological Preserve. You will feel as though you are traveling back in time as you follow a historic canopied road approaching this uniquely beautiful home site. If you seek privacy and tranquility you will find it here, but you are still just minutes away from Amelia Island and Jacksonville. Come enjoy a truly unique and pristine wilderness spot that is still convenient to city life. If you would love to intimately experience the outdoors but are not into sleeping bags and tents this is about as good as it gets. Hiking boots and daypacks or kayaks and paddles to start the day, a full day adventure, followed by a hot shower or a soak in the large soaking tub, AC/heat, TV and internet, and an adult beverage before hitting the hay in a clean soft bed. Rain on the tin roof just adds to the charm and ambiance. Gourmet dining is just a short drive away.
-Our 3 acre home site is a refuge to some of the resident wildlife including white tail deer, sea otter, and American bald eagles, (and many other bird species located along the Eastern Flyway). Talbot I State Park is also the location of one of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trails ((website hidden)).
-Five miles of continuous beaches on Little Talbot Island State Park is a short 5 minute drive away. Hiking, kayaking, bicycling, fishing, bird watching, anything involving the outdoors is located right off the back porch. Ten miles of paved bike paths on the East Coast Greenway, hiking trails through pristine coastal hammock country, numerous historic sites including Kingsley Plantation, Fort Clinch, Amelia Island Museum, Fort Caroline, etc.
-Just a short 8 minute drive to Huguenot Memorial Park- one of the last beaches in Florida that allows beach driving. No need to carry loads of beach stuff. Just drive in, park, unload, have fun.
-Amelia Island State Park is also close by- a great beach that also allows beach driving. It's also a great fishing spot.
-Bring your kayak or canoe (or rent one at Kayak Amelia just 5 minutes away) and paddle miles of remote tidal estuaries in the Timucuan Preserve.
-Bring your bike or rent one at Kayak Amelia and pedal along the miles of beaches or nearby East Coast Greenway dedicated paved bike paths.
