The SpaceTwo bedroom upper floor of a
character home which has evolved over the years from a 1940's bach. The original floor plan can be seen in the beautiful, wide, Kauri, Rimu and Matai floor boards which grace the central area of the house. A deck runs all around the north facing (sunny) side of the house, connecting the kitchen deck with the deck off the lounge. The kitchen has a cosy alcove with a cute little 50's diner style table. Each deck also has a table and chairs, allowing lots of choice for dining and relaxing. There is a well stocked superette at the top of the road, and a boutique Thai takeaway! A larger supermarket is less than 5 km away.
Verrans Corner is a comfortable walk away, with a superb café. Nearby Birkenhead has a great selection of restaurants too.
Our local beach is tidal, but I find I can always get a swim in, and there is a good three hour window of swimming around each high tide. Otherwise, the nearby East Coast beaches of Takapuna, Milford, Mairangi Bay etc, have all day swimming and wonderful beach walks.
Ferries depart from Beachhaven wharf, Birkenhead wharf, Northcote wharf and Devonport.
Please note: During the peak holiday periods I prefer a minimum seven day booking unless your booking is filling gaps between pre-existing bookings.
At other times, a minimum three day booking please. Guest Access1 double, 1 single bedroom, and a daybed in the living room. Stunning views of the Waitemata Harbour. Two large sunny decks, one semi-enclosed, both with gorgeous views. Cute kitchen, with kitchen dining, flowing outside onto deck. Two seating areas in the living room. Interaction with GuestsI reside downstairs and both living areas are self contained so there is friendly interaction and I am available if you should need any assistance, however the contact is not intrusive.
Please note, there could be cooking aromas drifting upstairs. I cook quite a bit with garlic, and ethnic flavours. If you think you might not like this, please look elsewhere for your accommodation. I have only had one complaint, but it highlighted that there might be an issue for some people. The NeighborhoodThis is a great neighbourhood with lots of green areas, and therefore lots of local native bird life - Tui, Kereru, Morepork, Kingfisher, are often on the property. The people in this area are very friendly, will smile and say hello when you meet them on the street. The wharf only two minutes walk away often has locals throwing a line in to catch some fish! There is a well stocked superette (general store) at the top of the road, and a soon to be opened Thai takeaway. Getting AroundThere are buses at the top of the road, and a ferry service from Beachhaven wharf, which is about 4 km away. Other Things to NoteThe house has a piano which you are welcome to use. I am a qualified Physiotherapist and massage therapist with 25+ years of experience. You may be able to book a massage at some point during your stay, if you wish. The property has a clinic on site! Subject to availability so I recommend arranging your bookings prior to your stay, if you would like this service.
