We aim to provide friendly, welcoming, clean and comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. Have a look at our great feedback to see what others thought. The Space The room: A modern double room with a new comfy bed and fitted furniture, hard wood floor, a fridge with an honesty mini bar. You also have your own digital TV plus DVD player, and we have a few DVDs here if you can’t find anything to watch. The room is light and airy, and there is some wardrobe space to hang your things up in. We have high speed wireless internet that you are free to use. The house: Situated on a quiet, safe suburban street, around 1 minute walk to the bus stop - under 20 minutes into central Manchester. Modern décor inside with the odd retro touch. Full central heating, with a solid fuel stove for cold winter nights. There's a friendly local pub about 10 minutes walk away, which does good food and has a good range of beers. We also have a few local convenience stores and a chip shop / take way plus an Indian restaurant nearby. Full use of the kitchen is not available to guests, however you are welcome to bring a takeaway back or use the microwave to heat up a ready-meal. Guests have their own front door keys, and are welcome to come and go as they please: Please don't feel you need to be in or out at a certain time. About us: We are a professional male couple working in IT. No children or pets, no smoking in the house. I'm a qualified Barista and make pretty good espresso, my other half is a part time DJ and can talk you to sleep about music. Manchester: Manchester has something for everyone - great food and bars, diverse live music, top notch shopping, bags of history, user friendly public transport. All that as well as 2 of the best football teams on the planet. Don't listen to the tales of it always raining - we get the same amount of rain as Rome! (but we can lend you a brolly if you need one). Transport: From the airport you have 2 options: 1. We can collect you if we are about (we usually are), we ask you to chip in for parking and fuel (£25) 2. Take the train into the city centre and then the 219 bus to our house. Into the city it's a short bus ride - about 20 minutes and costs £2.30 single or £4 for a days unlimited bus ticket. Other: Check in / Check out: We are flexible on times, but we do both work so we might ask you to delay your arrival so we are at home when you arrive (although it's rare we are both out at once). Because we both work we are unlikely to be able to accommodate very late arrivals. Looking for a single night? Please message me and I'll see what I can do. A small cleaning change applies to one night stays. We have a second room that would be suitable for a child/third person which is available as an add-on. Please let me know if you would like to use this room as well as the main room. Not included in the daily rate, but for a small supplement we can also offer: - Use of the washing machine - Packed lunches - Supper (by arrangement) - A long soak in our very deep bath tub. I'll even run the bath, light the scented candle and add some bubbles! Our discount policy: Please let me know if you fall into one of the following (website hidden) Forces: Significant discounts are available to serving members of HM forces. This is our way of saying thank you for doing things most of us would rather not think about. Job Seekers: If you are coming to Manchester for an interview and have been unemployed we may be able to offer you a cheap night. Everyone needs a hand up sometime. Extended Stays: We can offer you a cheaper rate for an extended stay of a month or more. Guest Access What your rate includes: We know that guests value our low low rates, so we need to keep our costs down to achieve this. The cost of your stay includes: - Use of our comfortable, clean spare room, with clean linen and a towel for each guest - A set of door keys to come and go as you please - Your own WC / Basin - A daily shower in the family bathroom - Free simple breakfast of of either croissants or porridge, plus juice/coffee or tea served until 10am - Free Wifi - Free Digital TV Check in and Check Out times: We both work full time so we might ask you to delay your arrival so we can be sure we are home to welcome you. Unless we have someone else coming the day you leave we are relaexed about check out times, but most guests are keen to get on with their trips are leave by 10am. Interaction with Guests Depends on the guest: some people like a good chin wag and others are quieter. We are always available to help, but appreciate you probably didn't come to Manchester to spend your time chatting to us! The Neighbourhood It's quiet and near to a great bus route to the city centre (we also have the tram but the bus is cheaper and faster). Getting around 219 bus takes you into the city, fast ans cheap. Other Things to Note About the bathrooms: we have two - guests have their own basin and WC on one bathroom, but the shower is next door in the family bathroom. The shower in the guest bathroom isn't used.

The SpaceThis small and perfectly formed room is great for short stays or longer breaks, with lots of storage space for your belongings and a super comfy bed. The room has a desk and chair, for you to work or watch films. The real benefit of this room is that it is always warm and cosy, so after a long day out you will have somewhere to relax. Guest AccessYou'll have access to our shared bathroom, kitchen, lounge and artist studio (on request). We have a comfy lounge with TV that has Netflix, BBCiplayer and Youtube. We have a piano that you're welcome to use (it needs tuning though!). I love cooking, so our kitchen is well equipped for you to use too. Interaction with GuestsWe love having guests and will be very happy to help you during your stay, whether that is finding somewhere nice to eat or checking out what's on in Manchester. The Peak District is close by and we are there at least twice a week, so if you want to get out and see more we can help with that too. Our speciality is welcoming guests who are first time travellers to the UK, helping to make your start here a good one. We are an active family and rise early, so during the day you can have space to yourself, with peace and quiet. We will do our best not to disturb you when we leave in the mornings, but sometimes a little noise is unavoidable. In the evenings we are happy for you to hang out with us and eat with us or to do your own thing. As a self confessed foodie I also offer meals to guests on a daily or weekly basis. If you want a sample menu, just ask. I aim to provide healthy meals that are tasty and suit your tastes, at an additional cost. The NeighborhoodIf you stay with us you will experience family life in a Manchester suburb. Where we live feels really safe (to me) and I have always felt it's a nice place to live. We've lived here for 12 years. Within 1 mile we have 3 supermarkets - Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and a Co-op small store. There is a lovely community library five minute's walk from the house. We have a takeaway around the corner, next to a bakery and post office. 2 miles away we have a small out of town shopping area with shops like H&M, M&S, Sportsdirect, Clark's etc. Opposite our house we have a lovely tree-lined park and just down the road there is Debdale Park with a reservoir, which you can run around and where you can also sail. There is a PureGym that costs around £15 a month (Debdale) within half a mile and they usually do a free 3 day trial. Getting AroundThere is roadside parking all around the area. There is a bus stop outside the house and just down the road to get to Stockport or Manchester. Buses to Manchester: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Bus to Stockport 203. There is a train station (Reddish North)that goes to Sheffield/ Peak District or Manchester - 10 mins walk. It is easy to cycle to town and I have a bike I can loan for a deposit, with security lock and helmet. The universities are 30 minutes away on the bus and a short walk. Manchester city centre is 20 minutes on the bus, slightly longer at peak times due to traffic. The M60 motorway is 2 minutes away in the car. Other Things to NoteWe're a busy household - you'll probably have the lounge to yourself for most of your stay, if you want to relax in front of the TV a little!

"Hazel" was built in 1913 to carry salt.In 1951 she became a houseboat. Between 2011 and 2015 she was completely rejuvenated using oak and greenheart by the Wooden Canal Boat Society, a registered charity, and she is now a well being boat to provide holidays for people suffering from stress or depression. In between trips she can be towed to delightful romantic locations on the Peak Forest, Ashton and Huddersfield Narrow canals to provide a pleasant place to stay within easy travelling distance of central Manchester. She can also be chartered for meetings, therapy sessions and holidays. There is a wheechair lift and limited disabled access to the forward half of the boat, as far as the bathroom. The bedroom options on this site are not very useful for describing "Hazel". Accommodation is 2 main bedrooms plus a further 3 beds in the forward saloon which can be curtained off for greater privacy. The back bedroom can be configured as a single, a double, two bunks or a double with a bunk bed over. The side bedroom can be set up as a double or a single. The 3 beds in the forward saloon are used as seats in the daytime or they can be easily removed and replaced by folding chairs to create a greater floor area. The bathroom has a wetroom shower and flushing toilet. There is a woodstove for heating which heats radiators in the bedrooms. An LPG powered water heater provides hot water when the stove is not in use. Separate from the main part of the boat is a traditional boatman's back cabin. This can accommodate 2 more in a very cosy space but it is not very convenient for access to the bathroom. Normally when you are staying a WCBS volunteer will be on hand either staying in the back cabin or on a nearby boat to keep you supplied with firewood and make sure everything is OK. On longer stays it may be necessary to move the boat occasionally for battery charging. She cannot be used at a single location for more than 14 nights. The location given on the map is her home base. Please note that for certain locations a one off positioning fee will be charged whatever the length of your stay. NB. During November 2016 "Hazel" will be in Stalybridge because of canal stoppages. During January, February and March 2017 she will be based in Stalybridge but alternative locations in Ashton under Lyne, Mossley and Uppermill will be available. "Hazel"s normal stamping grounds are to the East of Manchester where the urban areas thin out and meet the hills. The Peak Forest canal to Marple is delightfully wooded with the little known Haughton Vale to explore. We particularly recommend staying at Chadkirk with lovely gardens , holy well and mediaeval chapel. The Huddersfield Narrow is a magnificent waterway up and through the Pennines with some great out of the way moorings. Ashton has a wonderful free museum at Portland Basin and is good for shopping. Shopping and transport facilities are plentiful in the area, and you're close to Manchester.

The SpaceYour room will be the main bedroom. It has a nice feel and gets plenty of light (although it's nice and dark for sleeping when the blinds are down). Chilled décor, the fluffy carpet gives it a homely feel. Being on the top floor and well insulated it is always a good temperature. Although if it is particularly chilly then 10 minutes with the heating on will make it nice and toasty, or if it's a bit hot then both the windows can open in your room. Large kitchen with everything you need (my girlfriends a private chef and keeps the utensils stocked up for me) Custom decorated Bathroom with shower and bath. Large comfy sofa in the living room plus dining table to eat round. I do not have a TV but there is a large screen set up in the living room which you can plug into a laptop to watch films or TV on using the Wifi. Guest AccessEverywhere except spare bedroom, where I will be sleeping. My girlfriend is over some nights so she may be here as well. Interaction with GuestsRelaxed, I'm often busy either out at work or working from home, but I am always open to chat and interact or answer any questions you have about the place or area. I am a musician and write songs and play guitar. I don't tend to play when guests are around but if you happen to also be a musician we could always have a jam! The NeighborhoodQuiet block of apartments in newly built enclosed housing estate. Golf course down the road, bakery, pub and shop nearby. Has a quiet and safe feel to it. Ideal for someone who likes to be within reach of the hussle and bussle but also be able to get away from it. There is a reservoir over the road which I walk round quite a lot. Getting AroundBus stop right outside which goes directly to Manchester city centre. Christmas markets are then a 5 minute walk from the bus station. Close to M60 for easy access to anywhere via car. If arriving in Picadilly train station, the 219 bus runs from just outside the station to right outside my apartment, the stop is by the back entrance of the station and runs fairly regularly. Other Things to NoteThe only Neighbours who are affected by noise are downstairs, they have mentioned that we are sometimes too loud when playing music, so please keep it pretty chilled.
