The SpaceThe room:
A modern double room with a new comfy bed and fitted furniture, hard wood floor, a fridge with an honesty mini bar. You also have your own digital TV plus DVD player, and we have a few DVDs here if you can’t find anything to watch.
The room is light and airy, and there is some wardrobe space to hang your things up in.
We have 100mb high speed wireless internet that you are free to use.
Situated on a quiet, safe suburban street, around 1 minute walk to the bus stop - around 20 minutes into central Manchester. Modern décor inside with the odd retro touch. Full central heating, with a solid fuel stove for cold winter nights.
There's a friendly local pub about 10 minutes walk away, which does good food and has a good range of beers. We also have a few local convenience stores and a chip shop / takeaway plus a great Indian restaurant nearby.
Guests have their own front door keys, and are welcome to come and go as they please: Please don't feel you need to be in or out at a certain time.
We are a professional couple working in IT. No children or pets. I'm a qualified Barista and make pretty good espresso, my other half is a part time DJ and can talk you to sleep about music.
Manchester has something for everyone - great food and bars, diverse live music, top notch shopping, bags of history, user friendly public transport.
All that as well as 2 of the best football teams on the planet.
Don't listen to the tales of it always raining - we get the same amount of rain as Rome! (but we can lend you a brolly if you need one).
From the airport you have 2 options:
1. We can collect you if we are about (we usually are), we ask you to chip in for parking and fuel (£20)
2. Take the train into the city centre and then the 219 bus to our house.
Into the city it's a short bus ride - about 20 minutes and costs £2.30 single or £4 for a days unlimited bus ticket. There are also weekly tickets for £13 available from the bus driver.
Not included in the daily rate, but for a small supplement we can also offer:
- Use of the washing machine
- A long soak in our very deep bath tub. I'll even run the bath, light the scented candle and add some bubbles!
Our discount policy:
Please let me know if you fall into one of the following groups.
Her Majesty's Forces: Significant discounts are available to serving members of Her Majesty's armed forces. This is our way of saying thank you for doing things most of us would rather not think about.
Job Seekers: If you are coming to Manchester for an interview and have been unemployed we may be able to offer you a cheap night. Everyone needs a hand up sometime.
Extended Stays: We can offer you a cheaper rate for an extended stay of a week or a month, the airbnb site calculates these discounts automatically. Guest AccessWhat your rate includes:
We know that guests value our low low rates, so we need to keep our costs down to achieve this.
The cost of your stay includes:
- Use of our comfortable, clean guest room, with clean linen and towels for each guest
- A set of front door keys to come and go as you please (there is no curfew time - stay out as late as you like!)
- Your own WC / Basin
- A daily shower in the family bathroom
- A brunch box of breakfast treats to enjoy in your room or take with you whilst you're out and about
- Free Wifi
- Free Digital TV
About the bathrooms: we have two - guests have their own basin and WC on one bathroom, but the shower is next door in the family bathroom. The bath/shower in the guest bathroom isn't used.
Check in / Check out: We are flexible on times, but we do both work so we might ask you to delay your arrival so we are at home when you arrive (although it's rare we are both out at once). Because we both work we are unlikely to be able to accommodate very late arrivals. If you are leaving us during the week we may ask you to leave early if we are off out to work, much more flexible at the weekend.
We do not allow guests use of our kitchen, and we do not have space to store your groceries in our fridge (it's hardly big enough for us!) Interaction with GuestsDepends on the guest: some people like a good chin wag and others are quieter.
We are always available to help, but appreciate you probably didn't come to Manchester to spend your time chatting to us! The NeighborhoodIt's quiet and near to a great bus route to the city centre (we also have the tram but the bus is cheaper and faster). Getting Around219 bus takes you into the city, fast and cheap.
There is a tram stop about 10 minutes walk away, but the door to door journey is slower (unless you are travelling in rush hour), and it's more expensive than the bus.
Guide Bridge train station: also about 10 minutes walk, there are a couple of trains an hour ro the city. Also access to the High Peak district - some lovely villages and excellent hiking. Other Things to NoteAbout the bathrooms: we have two - guests have their own basin and WC on one bathroom, but the shower is next door in the family bathroom. The shower in the guest bathroom isn't used.
