The SpaceThis lovely home is perfect for a small family gathering or a retreat with friends. Big enough to be quietly on your own, intimate enough to encourage long conversations and laughter. Will consider more than 6 guests. Guest AccessThe house is available on 2 levels with open living and dining area and kitchen. Two bedrooms each with private bath and balcony on upper level plus two sofa beds in main living area (which also has a full bath) allow up to 6 people - any more would be negotiable. Interaction with GuestsCaretaker lives on lower level and is usually on the property to greet guests and in case of questions. I do need to have access to the main floor to prepare my meals but Shackeen (the dog) and I stay mostly down in our own rooms. And I like to sort of tidy-up the kitchen and living areas in the evening to be sure that the guests are comfortable and I run the dishwasher as needed. We also ask that any dogs that are approved for the visit be very friendly. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet area with hiking, fishing, boating within 15 minutes to an hour away. Farmers markets abound in the summer and year-round! A seasonal scenic railroad ride departs from Romney. Getting AroundYou will need your own transportation. We are located about 2 hours west of Washington DC and 30 miles from Winchester or Cumberland. Other Things to NoteThere are 20 acres to ramble on - half meadow half wooded. Wild birds and deer frequently visit. Watch the moon and the sun rise to the east and then set in the west through woods. For those of you looking for on-line entertainment, we now have a TV monitor that has plugs for laptops and firestick-sort of things.
