The SpacePROPERTY INFORMATION:
We'd like to welcome you to our large, modern and sunny home. Located in a quiet street of the city's inner west, 8km to downtown Auckland; 1.5km (15mins walk) to Mt Albert Unitec and 2-3 minutes from all of Auckland's motorways.
Set away from it all, our home is both peaceful and private.
Located down a long driveway off a quiet no-exit street, the gardens create a feel of a tropical getaway, yet we are located not far from downtown Auckland. We are convenient to central Auckland's major transport routes and shopping centres.
Our street runs off a main arterial route (and only 2 mins drive to the motorway) so there are plenty of buses heading (mainly) to and from the city centre. Most of the bus routes go through Pt Chevalier and past Auckland Zoo & Western Springs Park, terminating at Britomart/Ferry Building. There is a pharmacy, bakery, Chinese restaurant and café/bistro just a short walk away. We are also not far from Pt Chevalier which has a supermarket, some takeaway bars, bistros, indian restaurant, bakeries, library, cafes and a couple of pubs. We have a large park just across the road from our house - a great place for a walk.
We travel a lot ourselves, so we appreciate the need for time to yourselves to unwind so have tried to provide a comfortable, studio apartment like accommodation for our guests providing you with your own private area to sit and relax in.
Our spacious near new house will provide you the best of modern living with a large bedroom available for rent.
The large room has a king size bed with electric blanket and heater available (for those cooler nights), large wardrobe and private en-suite. French doors lead from the bedroom to a courtyard which boasts sun all morning - a great place to enjoy your breakfast in the summer.
You will also have your own guest lounge which has a fridge, microwave, TV and tea & coffee making facilities (instant and filtered) as well as a supply of crockery & cutlery. We have made it as easy as possible for you to heat up or cook basic meals in the privacy of your own lounge/kitchen area, and for those guests staying long term we are happy to share our family kitchen.
Your bedroom, bathroom and small lounge can all be closed off to provide your own private studio type accommodation, whenever you want. Meanwhile, when we are at home, we are just beyond the door. The guest lounge opens out to a grassed area and garden at the front of the house where you can enjoy the afternoon sun.
BREAKFAST: A choice of English muffins and breads, variety of jams/spreads, cereals, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea, and either instant or filtered coffee.

Sue works part time at Auckland airport and is sometimes able to offer airport pickup/dropoff (depending upon the flight times and her roster). Mike works as a (TV) broadcast engineer - he is passionate about his music and genealogy and is also an avid reader. We are fairly quiet people who both love to travel, visiting new places and meeting new people.
We have hosted many international guests over the years but this is only our 3rd year with Airbnb - we look forward to welcoming you into our home and aim to make your stay enjoyable.
NB: we have one pet - a cat called Max;
Neither Mike or Sue are smokers and we would ask that there is NO Smoking inside the house (however, you can smoke outside but please make sure that you collect the butts and dispose of them with the garbage).
For guests staying more than a week, we will change bedding and towels weekly on a mutually convenient day. Guest AccessGuests have access to all outdoor areas and seating.
Limited access to our family kitchen - by arrangement only, and only when one of us is home. Interaction with GuestsBoth Mike & Sue have travelled NZ from top to bottom and we are more than happy to share our knowledge of our beautiful country, offer suggestions and answer any questions you might have.
When our work hours permit, we do try to organise at least one shared meal with our guests while they stay with us. It's a great way to get to know each other better. The NeighborhoodCentral Auckland is an isthmus, and we live in one of Auckland's inner west suburbs which is close to all the motorways into and out of Auckland.
Our quiet, no exit street has mostly older homes, well established trees and lots of bird life. We even have some native tuis (birds) living nearby.
Access to Heron Park is directly opposite our driveway.w Getting AroundJust 400m away (at the top of our street) is a bus stop which will take you into the Central City. As the bus stop is serviced by multiple bus routes, you will never have to wait long for a bus.
Alternatively, the Western Train Line is only a 9-10 minute walk - the train will take you into Newmarket & Britomart via Kingsland & Newmarket. Auckland is only serviced by 2 main train lines so we are fortunate that we have the option of train OR bus into the city. Other Things to NoteWe understand that some guests may be arriving into Auckland on flights that arrive very early in the morning. While our checkin time is 12:00 noon, we are sometimes able to offer an earlier checkin time - please enquire well in advance.
Please note, however, that breakfast is NOT available for an early checkin.
