The Tasman Sea provides the 7km western boundary with Taranaki's most spectacular coastline and beaches. Uplifted marine terraces and ancient sea cliffs rise to more than 900 feet above sea level to form the famous 'White Cliffs'. The coastal Miocene fossil sequence attracts geologists from all around the world.

Breathtaking panoramic views over the Tasman Sea, all the way to the White Cliffs and Mt Taranaki beyond. Just a short stroll or drive of 300m down to Mohakatino beach ? a secluded and beautiful black sand beach which offers fishing, swimming, a waterfall for the kids to play under, and a mussel reef. ?The Quarters? is an ex-shearers quarters, which we are in the process of renovating. It is situated just 4km south of Mokau, at Mohakatino Station - a large sheep and beef station, above Mohakatino beach. Mokau has two Cafes, a butcher, museum, and boat cruises up the Mokau River. Awakino is just 10 minutes drive north, and has a Hotel, Bar and restaurant, and a service station. There are plenty of beaches and caves to explore, with the White Cliffs walk only a short drive south; great fishing at the river mouths and whitebait during the season (August 15th ? November 30th). This property accommodates a maximum of 10 people. The main cottage has 3 bedrooms - the master bedroom with a king sized bed, the other two rooms have queen sized beds with single bunks on top. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, freestanding oven and microwave, a fireplace to keep warm and cozy on those winter nights. ***PLEASE REVIEW THE LIMITATIONS OF THIS PROPERTY PRIOR TO PLACING A BOOKING*** Amazing large property with jaw dropping views set on 80 hectares of bush land. Perched on the top of a cliff with views in every direction this property is seriously one of kind. Skeet shooting off the deck, or relaxing in the massive bath there is something here for a boys weekend, or couples retreat or small party of friends. Well positioned for excellent fishing, white baiting (well known Hutiwai Road) and hunting (available on the property by special request). Bush walks, beach walks (Three Sisters and Elephant rock 2 minute drive) and the White Cliffs walk all very close by. Property is completely off the grid with solar panels, gas hot water, septic and rain water. This property is a very unique that defiantly offers something a little different than anything else you've seen before. This property does have a few limitations - it is 4x4 drive access only, and a competent driver is needed to negotiate the 1km track to this property - a driver can be organised at request for those that require one. - Although children are welcome we must stress this property is not safe for young children with large cliffs outside. - The house is 90% completed, it still needs a few finishing touches and a "proper" kitchen, however it has everything needed in a kitchen as well as an oven, fridge, pantry etc.. - This property is only offered on Book a Bach to help fund the cost of the property until which time as it is completed and will be offered for upmarket retreats. Located 50 minutes from New Plymouth City. Special conditions: Absolutely no dogs due to the kiwi population close to the house. 4X4 access only - a significant 1km steep driveway to this property is only accessible via four wheel driver with a very competent driver at the wheel. Welcome to Farview Bach! Kick back and relax, go fishing, collect drift wood, mix with the locals or go on a riverboat cruise - your choice! Farview bach is located 5mins north of Mokau. From the bach, it's only a 10min walk to the Awakino River (great for trout fishing and white-baiting during the season), and to the local pub. En route to Mokau, you can stop off at the beach/estuary at Awakino Heads to swim or collect driftwood, or the beach by Seaview Motor Camp which is great for surf-casting. The beaches are good for surfing but take care - the ocean can be dangerous on the west coast, with rips and strong undertows. Mokau has two cafés and a museum, and you can arrange river cruises from Mokau. Heading north - 2.5km will take you to Junction Service Station which stocks basic groceries, supplies, daily newspapers etc. To reach the bach there's a short climb up a metalled farm track.
