Large family home situated in rural Waiuku, 2 min drive to the beach and local boat ramp, 1 hour to the hustle and bustle of Auckland city! There are many cool towns in between and fun things to see and do. Your hosts Claire, Stephen and Leo live in the main house, you will have access to a beautifully renovated fully equipped one bedroom studio apartment with en-suite bathroom. We have 3 1/2 acres of land, which house sheep, two dogs and four chickens.

Can pick up from the airport or Auckland (contact us for the cost). There is a General Store 2 minutes drive away and the nearest supermarket is in Waiuku, 20 minutes drive (open to 9pm most nights).

Peace, seclusion and tranquillity is yours to enjoy at CTC. We are 2K from a West Coast beach and there are many interesting harbour beaches on the peninsula. The NeighborhoodCabbage Tree Cottage is just 2 kilometers away from a West Coast beach, and there are many interesting harbour beaches on the peninsula, too. Varied activities and places of interest on the Peninsula include: Golf, fishing, the historic Manukau Heads Lighthouse; art gallery featuring creative work from the area; a regional national park; vineyard. Getting AroundHaving your own vehicle is necessary. Other Things to NoteJacquie and Tony also operate West Coast Jade, a small gallery, with New Zealand jade pendants, earrings, etc., available for sale. For more information, go to (website hidden). Or you can work with Tony in his workshop to craft your own pendant. Tony is an experienced and talented jade carver. His work has been purchased from people from all over the world and he has awards from national competitions. The workshop is situated in our garden, (the studio is an artpiece in itself!) Tony offers day tuition. Spend the day making a jade pendant. At the end of your workshop, under Tony’s guidance, you will have created a greenstone (Pounamu) pendant or touchstone carving of your own. During the day you will be taken through the background to the importance of this wonderful stone in our country, the great respect it commands as our “treasure”, and indeed the “heart” of this land “Aotearoa”. Jade stone carving requires expensive diamond tools to carve the stone but the effort put in is rewarded by a sense of accomplishment in producing a wearable piece by the end of the workshop. Tony will take you through the stages required to make your pendant. You will need a full day for this workshop. Price $250 – includes lunch and tea/coffee breaks – and photos of you working!

Weather and time permitting, I can take you on my Kawasaki Mule (called Boris) over the hills and down to a wild west coast beach for fishing or picnics. You will also want to experience the world-famous-in-Awhitu long swing! The NeighborhoodThe Awhitu Peninsula is an area of amazing diversity and beauty. We have high cliffs, black sand beaches and wild surf on the west coast, and quiet golden beaches on the east. There is a well stocked shop with takeaways, an art gallery, a vineyard, a lighthouse, horse trekking, just to name a few attractions. Waiuku (17kms south) has a wide selection of eating places. Getting AroundNyumbani is about 70kms from Auckland city, and the nearest train station is Papakura. If you don't have a car I could probably come and pick you up, but would need you to help with vehicle expenses, from $60 per trip. The bedroom has a balcony overlooking the garden. You will also have your own bathroom to yourselves. The kitchen is shared but we are easy and friendly :). There are 3 outside areas including BBQ area so everyone gets his privacy for sure. The conservatory leads to a large deck with table and chairs (an ideal setting for outdoor entertaining) and 180 degree view of the water. From here guests can watch other golfers having a game or enjoy a game of chess on the patio. Guest AccessGuests will have their own access through the conservatory. Interaction with GuestsFridge is stocked with essentials and a snack menu will be available shortly. Dinner can be bought from the local restaurant or the fish and chip/burger takeaway. There is also a coffee shop which caters for breakfast and a small convenience store and liquor off-sales. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood is very quiet with the only night life being the local restaurant, which has a separate bar, open Wednesday through Sunday. The nearest town is Pukekohe which is a 20 minute drive away. There many wonderful restaurants can be located along with a number of public houses. Getting AroundThere is no public transport and guests will require their own car/van etc. The property is situate 35 mins drive from Auckland airport and 40 mins drive (depending on traffic) from Auckland CBD. Other Things to NoteThe property also has a full size outdoor chess set available to guests. A round of golf can be booked at the clubhouse nearby. Partner of the host is a competition golfer with 40 years experience and can assist those looking for some instruction with their swing etc. There is also a yacht club 5 mins walk up the road, a children's play area on the beach and long peaceful walks can be taken.

    This is a timeless, large, well laid out beach house. It is private, sheltered from the prevailing winds, with a large northeast facing deck stepping down on to a large lawn with full sea views. In the distance beyond the Manukau harbour is the airport and the skytower. The easy 1 hr 20 mins drive (outside of rush hour) offers spectacular views of the wild west coast as you travel along the beautiful Awhitu Peninsula. This beach house and surrounding beauty will take you back in time to when 'the beach' really restored and replenished the soul and spirit. You may just loll on the deck taking in the expansive view of the sea, or pop over to the the wild west coast for an explore, or out to the lighthouse at the Manukau Heads, or explore the local villages of Awhitu or Waiuku. Or you may walk to the local vineyard, or simply take a stroll along the beach and take in the tranquil beauty of the scenery. Special conditions: Smoking not allowed.                 This spacious, light filled home - only 90 minutes easy drive from central Auckland - has been lovingly built with comfort in mind. It is the perfect location for friends or extended family wishing to holiday together as the open plan upstairs level is completely self contained, with its own kitchenette, fridge and bathroom.                     We welcome the opportunity to let others enjoy a relaxing affordable holiday and the area is known for its privacy and seclusion for anyone that wants time out. The TOP HOUSE is 200m up on the hill with views over 18 areas of farm land and the Manukau Harbour. While sitting on your deck you are able to watch the activity of the birds below on the sand bar and your family checking their flounder net. The TOP HOUSE tenants have access to the beach by vehicle or a 200m walk on a track. There is plenty of room on the lawn at the beach to park your kayaks and fishing gear. It is a great spot for floundering - bring a flounder net if you want flounder for breakfast. The beach is a safe swimming beach for children and kayaking and also great for kayak fishing out in the Manukau Harbour. Moor your boat in the shallow water or in the or deeper water on the other side of the sand bar. You are only 6 km to the 9-hole golf course at the ARA Park on Brook Road. Bristro meals are available on Friday nights at the Awhitu Golf Club from 5.30pm to 8pm. You are 6km to the local store for supplies. Kayaks are available for hire with paddles and life jackets.
