Unique, cozy, private and inviting 1970s A-Frame, inspired by my love for Scandinavia and the time I've spent there. Modern and clean, but with a rustic cottage feel. This place has been fully remodeled over the last year with passion and patience and I'm excited to finally share it with the world! You will feel the love and dedication when you enter. There is even an amazing street-art inspired mural out back! Everything is brand new: metal roof, bamboo floors, windows, full kitchen with granite countertops, bathroom, HVAC, wiring and even the staircase. The cabin has a loft with a queen-sized bed and 1 bedroom downstairs with a twin that pulls out into a king. 1 bathroom with a tiled shower (no tub). Both beds are insanely comfortable memory foam. The kitchen is ready for cooking and includes cookware and dining essentials. The fridge is not full-size, but very spacious. The dining table pulls out to fit 4 comfortably and the bar seats 3.
Enjoy a wifi-free retreat! (Although most cell service providers work up here, including LTE Verizon service). If you're too hooked on TV and technology to take a break for a few days, this may not be the place for you.
Lastly, please note that I keep the base price low because I want this place to be accessible to as many people as possible. This very reasonable base price is based on 2 guests. All towels, bedding, etc. provided are based on the number of people in the booking. Please indicate the exact number of guests who will stay (including children), as this will be verified. Guest AccessFull use of home and 3.5 acres of land. Collection of games (mostly fun adult card games and geeky board games) and my personal collection of books (which consists mostly of spirituality, philosophy, science, history and world affairs). This is great space for readers and gamers, so don't forget to bring your own. :)
If you desire movie time, I also recommend bringing a tablet or laptop with a few movies since this is purposefully a wifi/TV free home. Interaction with GuestsAvailable to help with ideas for things to do. Always available by phone, but 1.5 hours away for any in-person needs. The NeighborhoodBetween Bailey, CO and Guanella Pass (closed in winter). Great hiking, fishing, cultural/historical actives, snowshoeing, leaf peeping and all around relaxation. There are many great day trips in the area, as well that include history, hot springs, gold mines, ghost towns, beautiful mountain drives, etc. Lots of cute cafes nearby where you can experience true mountain friendliness. The closest cafe is the Shaggy Sheep. And don't forget to stop in the Sasquatch Museum in Bailey. If you're looking for a brewery, check out Mad Jack's Mountain Brewery. Getting AroundSKI RESORTS: The cabin is close enough for a decent day trip to any of these resorts:
Breckenridge (1 hour)
Copper Mountain (1.5 hours)
Keystone (1.5 hours)
Loveland (1.5 hours)
Arapahoe Basin (1.5 hours)
Vail (2 hours)
For those looking to ski/snowboard for the duration of their trip, this probably isn't the place for you. This is for people looking for a cozy retreat off the beaten track. There are plenty of mountain activities to fill your days with. Other Things to NoteELEVATION: Local spring water is provided. Please stay well hydrated. Some people from locations outside of CO can experience symptoms due to the altitude. If you are coming from a lower elevation, giving yourself a day to acclimate in Denver/Boulder is recommended. Staying hydrated and avoiding alcohol will also prevent these symptoms.
BREAKFAST: I provide a full fair trade and organic coffee and hot drink bar, some breakfast items (organic eggs, oatmeal, etc.) and a few cold drinks.
DEPOSIT: There is a $500 deposit. This is NOT charged to you upon booking. It is only a reserve I am able to claim for damage or theft.
RESPECT: I spend a great deal of time preparing for your visit so that your experience is as perfect as possible. Please respect my home and the serenity that this place evokes. Please keep the house as clean as possible. Be aware that the floors, while bamboo, do scratch easily. Please do not wear shoes inside or drag furniture, suitcases, etc. No parties. No smoking inside. Just be generally respectful. So far, my guests have been WONDERFUL. :)
CONSERVATION: Please conserve water and electricity. Resources are scarce and mountain homes are not so easy on the environment. Staying here means you commit to water and energy conservation (with all showering, cooking, cleaning, etc.). There is no dishwasher, so please be mindful while washing dishes (don't leave water running) and reuse cups when possible.
RECYCLE all recyclables. Separate bins are provided.
SEPTIC is sensitive. Absolutely nothing flushed, except TP.
WINTER DISCLAIMER: In winter, 4X4 or AWD with clearance is required. The cabin is right off highway 285, which is well maintained all year long. There is about an eighth of a mile of driveway that is pretty steep and often not plowed. If making a winter reservation, please confirm you understand that you will go at your own risk. If a reservation is made for 5 days or more, I will have the road plowed if needed. For major winter storms, full refunds will be available up to 1 day prior to the reservation, when requested, so do keep an eye on the weather.
