Number 58 is based in a quiet residential location within walking distance of local shops and the Bloomfield shopping complex. For those who prefer to use public transport there is a local bus service which passes close by, or if you are driving there is a good sized driveway which accommodates 2 vehicles. A slightly longer journey (3-4 miles) will take you into the town centre and marina where you will find a host of leisure activities for all the family (please see 'things to do') This is a bustling seaside town and Number 58 is the ideal location from which to discover and fully appreciate all it has to offer.

The SpaceBased in Groomsport you have a quiet seaside location to return to. You can help yourself to tea, coffee and soft drinks anytime and I provide a light breakfast of orange juice, cereal and toast as standard. If I'm not pressed for time i can also provide a traditional fried breakfast for a small charge - please mention this before you book. You can go for walks on the beach any time of the day as its on your doorstep. The immediate area is great for coastal and country walks, golf (5 courses within 15mins drive), driving range (3 mins drive) watersports at Ballyhome (5 mins) and for shopping, history and city buzz Belfast is either a 30 min drive or you can take the train. The taxis in the area are relatively inexpensive and a taxi into Bangor would typically cost ÂŁ2.50 - ÂŁ3.00.

The house also has private parking for 2 to 3 cars. Included is a welcome pack, fuel for the open fire in the lounge together with electricity and gas for the duration of your stay. Interaction with GuestsYou will be met on arrival at the house and should you need anything during your stay, we are only 5 minutes drive away. The NeighborhoodThe Open Door is 10 minutes walk from Ballyholme beach. Ballyholme Village offers coffee shops, a restaurant, a bakery, chemist & other shops. Bangor town centre is just 3 miles from The Open Door. Aurora Aquatic Centre with it's Olympic swimming pool and family splash pool is just 2.7 miles away. Bangor town centre has a beautiful marina with kids fun zone Pickie Park a local attraction. Getting AroundBangor is only 20 minutes away from George Best Airport and is on the main train line to the airport and Belfast town centre. There is an excellent bus service with a bus stop just facing The Open Door which will bring you directly into Bangor town centre. Bangor also offers direct transport links to Belfast City centre, Titanic Quarter, and the SSE Arena (home of the Giants!).

            Shoemakers Cottage has been carefully and beautifully restored it was a shoemakers shop and residence originally. It is set in its own grounds, with amble parking. It is located in the heart of Ballyholme which has a beach, shops, resturants and pubs within a 5 minute walk. The cottage has an large kitchen dining room, the original workshop. A cosy lounge with an open fire and 3 good size bedrooms. There is a large utility drying room and an enclosed rear garden with its own apple trees, lovely to eat in Autumn. The cottage also has oil heating and was exceptionally well insulated during renovation, making it warm and inviting for visitors during winter or summer.

Great golf courses nearby and excellent walking and cycling trails. Getting AroundRecommend a hire car for getting around but there is also a good bus service that will take you most places. You can drive anywhere in Northern Ireland and back in a day including Glens of Antrim and Giant's Causeway. Train line between Belfast and Dublin for another great day out.

                        Shoemakers cottage has 3 good size bedroom, two double rooms and a bunk room , sleeping 6. A cosy lounge with Wi Fi, TV and open fire a large modern kitchen dining and second sitting room area and great utility room. There is ample off road parking to the front and a large, sunny enclosed rear garden with patio furniture. The cottage is bright and spacious and many original features have been retained. The bedrooms are decorated in the shoemakers theme and are bright airy and modern. the cottage benefits from extra internal insulation and is very cosy in winter and summer. There are numerous shops, restaurants and cafes close by and the beach with several children's play parks is 5 minutes walk from the house. Bangor town is a 15 minute walk and has the Aurora, Olympic pool, Pickie fun park Bangor Castle and many shops and restaurants. From Bangor the train goew to Belfast every 30 minutes, taking 25 minutes to get there it also stops at The Folk and Transport , and Titanic quarter.

                        The SpaceWell it's a pretty simple house really, and I've tried to pay attention to providing a very comfortable environment. As part of the renovation works I insulated all of the walls etc and installed a smart gas heating system which delivers warmth and hot water on-demand. Guests love the views of the Irish Sea. Guest AccessI have my own room at the top of the house but apart from that, the house is shared. Guests can use the toaster and kettle in the dining room and help themselves to breakfast. Laundry eqpt available by arrangement. There is good wifi access throughout the house and Smart TV in the ground floor living room which can be used at any time. Interaction with GuestsI'm usually not far away and always enjoy hearing about my guests' travels. The NeighborhoodDonaghadee is a lovely town and can be reached by road or by wandering through 'The Commons' - a lovely area of park land just across the road. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop just across the road, providing access to Bangor / Belfast or down the Ards Peninsula. Other Things to NoteI'm on the end of a terrace so I do have a next-door-neighbour and would ask guests to bear this in mind as far as noise levels are concerned :-)

                        I have recently spent a year renovating this beautiful Victorian end-terraced house overlooking the Irish Sea in the charming sea-side town of Donaghadee. The town centre is just a short stroll away and boasts a lovely selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and coffee shops in addition to its picturesque harbour and lighthouse. I have done a lot of travelling and love welcoming other travellers into my home. I also have a double room, listed separately.
