The SpaceRock house with expansive windows in the living room area, and a deck to enjoy the 100 mile views. 2 bedrooms on main level; Master bedroom has a Queen bed, and the Guest bedroom has a King bed; plus a finished lower level, with a queen bed. Sleeps 6. In September 2014, the kitchen was completely renovated by changing the footprint to provide a larger food preparation area and cooking space with new counter tops, including a full size oven with smooth cook top range, large built in microwave, new refrigerator with ice maker, and new dishwasher. In addition, all new kitchen cabinets and drawers were installed. Also in September 2014, the windows in the kitchen and living room were replaced to provide clear, expansive long range views. In the summer months, the awning at the top of the windows can be opened to allow full house circulation of the cool mountain air. The new windows and increased insulation means better comfort in the winter months. Also during the September 2014 renovation, the flooring in the living room and kitchen area was replaced, as well as getting a new leather sectional sofa, slipper chair, coffee table, and sofa table for the living room, as well as a new King sized bed, dresser, night stand for the guest bedroom, along with new mattresses and box springs for the master and guest bedrooms. The September 2014 remodeling is in addition to previous renovations which have been done to continue to improve the experience for guests of the Aspen Ski Loft. Since purchasing the home in October 2010, we have added new ceramic tile in the lower level to replace the carpet, purchased new clothes washer and dryer, replaced the old inefficient fireplace with a new wood pellet fireplace, replaced the carpet and installed new windows in the master and guest bedrooms, completely painted the exterior and interior, added new lighting inside and out, and installed a Nexia Home Intelligence system for remote management of the door locks, thermostats, lighting, and water heater. The main living area of the Aspen Ski Loft has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The Master bedroom has a queen bed, with a private bathroom with a Japanese soaking tub and a shower. The guest bedroom has a king sized bed, with easy access to the main bathroom. The finished lower level has a separate entrance, and has a den, a sleeping nook with queen bed, and the laundry room. On the main level, the living room has a rock hearth with a wood pellet fireplace that keeps the house toasty warm. The wood pellet fireplace is controlled by the thermostat on the wall. With the touch of a button, you can have a real wood burning fire in 10 minutes. There is also a flat-screen LED TV with digital cable and DVD player above the fireplace. The Aspen Ski Loft is located approximately 50 steps from the top of the 'Lower Shawneehaw' ski lift of Beech Mountain Ski Resort. You can literally walk down the steps of the Aspen Ski Loft, walk across the street, strap on your skis or boards, and start skiing or riding. During the spring, summer and autumn, the Aspen Ski Loft is a great place for mountain biking and hiking. There are numerous biking events, and from June through mid-October, the Beech Mountain resort lifts are open to carry your bike to the top of the mountain for extreme downhill biking. There are hundreds of miles of hiking trail on and around Beech Mountain, with the Emerald Outback Trail being within walking distance of the Aspen Ski Loft. Guest Access50 steps to the Beech Mountain Ski Resort ski slopes; hiking, and mountain bike trails right outside your door. In summer, guests have access to the exclusive Beech Mountain Club for swimming, Fitness Center, golf, tennis, and Pickle Ball. Interaction with GuestsThe Aspen Ski Loft is Roger and Michele's personal vacation home, and is rented to guests when not being used. Guests have exclusive use of the Aspen Ski Loft with their reservation. The NeighborhoodThe Town of Beech Mountain is eastern America's highest elevation incorporated city, at 5,506 feet elevation. The town sledding hill, Fred's General Mercantile, Brick Oven Pizza, and the Land of Oz are all within walking distance of the Aspen Ski Loft. Summers are cool, quiet and lovely, with time for shopping, hiking, whitewater rafting, golf and swimming, as well as Tweetsie Railroad and Emerald Mining for the kids. In addition, there is Grandfather Mountain nearby, with its mile-high swinging bridge and the wonderful Highland Games, which are held each summer. During the autumn, all types of festivals are held in the surrounding area, including The Wooly Worm Festival and the Autumn at Oz weekend. Getting AroundA 4-wheel drive or All Wheel Drive is strongly recommended in winter. The Aspen Ski Loft is located on an asphalt road and is plowed by the Town of Beech Mountain. 2 vehicles will fit in the driveway of The Aspen Ski Loft. Once at the Aspen Ski Loft, you can easily walk to the ski slopes 50 steps away, or hiking or mountain biking. The area in which the Aspen Ski Loft is located is one of the most unique areas in Beech Mountain. While this area offers stunning mile high views and proximity to skiing, it also faces challenges in terms of adequate parking for residents and visitors. Guests of the Aspen Ski Loft will be issued a temporary Parking Permit to be used during their stay. Other Things to NoteThere are 40 steps from the driveway to the main entrance on the upper deck of the Aspen Ski Loft. We welcome our guests that can go up 40 steps to get the awesome 100-mile views from the living room and deck. There is also a lower level entrance to the Aspen Ski Loft that is 25 steps from the driveway.

The SpaceThe space is basically the whole upstairs of the house and features two bedrooms furnished with queen and full sized memory foam beds. The space is separated from the rest of the house and includes a cozy and sunny living room, private bath with tile shower as well as a microwave, mini fridge, toaster oven, and keurig coffee machine. There is no A/C, but we have big windows with screens and fans to keep you cool, and at 3500' elevation, nighttime temps stay comfortable all summer long! There is a propane unit and space heaters to keep it cozy during the colder months. The Stone Cottage is an older home (1940's) and I have maintained it with original wooden double hung windows, hardwood floors, and vintage decor. This is not a luxury listing but a simple, authentic lodging with gorgeous surroundings. Guest AccessThe guests will have access to a Keurig one cup, small mini-fridge, microwave and toaster oven for morning goodies. There is an electric kettle and Coffee (cream and sugar), English Breakfast Tea, Herbal teas, Organic Hot Chocolate, and Instant Oatmeal are provided. In addition, there is a private bathroom with a large tile shower and small room heater. In the bathroom, you will find clean towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower soap, hand soap and lotion. Outside, the guests can access the outdoor patio area, furnished with stone furniture and a small metal chimnea. The living room has a new 40" roku tv equipped with Netflix; we do not have any cable or local TV channels, and there is no DVD player. Interaction with GuestsThe resident is Peter who is a stone sculptor and lives in the downstairs of the house. He spends most of the day working in his studio next door. He will be happy to meet you and show you the property when he is there, help with any problems you might have, and discuss his work and extensive knowledge of the area. You do not need to meet anyone to check in or access the space; there is a lock box with a key outside the guest entrance so you can let yourself in and out. Also Franklin will be available 24/7 by phone or text should there be any questions. The NeighborhoodThe property is secluded and surrounded by nature, yet only one mile from downtown Banner Elk. Skiing at Sugar Mtn and Beech Mtn are each only 10 min away, and the property is south facing and the street is town -maintained so 4wd is rarely necessary. The Elk River is only a few steps from the house, perfect for fly fishing, rock hopping or just sitting by the river, and Lees-McCrae mountain biking trails are just across the river. Also, I have been maintaining a network of mowed walking paths for guests to explore the property. Amazing swimming holes and world class rock climbing areas are both within a 20 minute drive. Banner Elk has a ton of restaurants, and I will be happy to give a recommendation based on your preference. Some of the choices include: Mexican, Vietnamese, Italian, steakhouse, fine dining and more. Getting AroundThere is no public transit in Avery County but it is a short walk or bike ride into town, and there is plenty of parking for the listing. Other Things to NoteThe resident has a german shepherd who would love to meet your dog and play off leash in the surrounding fields and stream.

A sweeping view, near-total privacy, a stream crossing your driveway and leading to a pond, and a spectacularly luxurious 5000 square-foot home near historic Banner Elk is the perfect recipe for peace and relaxation! You’ll find all that and more at the beautiful Stoneledge Manor. As you enter the home, the first thing that arrests your attention is the enormous great room. Its focal point is the three-sided stone hearth with a gas log fireplace and nooks on either side for books, movies, and entertainment equipment. Mounted over this fireplace is a 65” 4K HDTV with Bose surround sound. Arranged around the fireplace are couches and easy chairs, as well as a gaming table tucked in the corner. The other half of the great room is the expansive kitchen. It features an enormous tiled island for eating as well as preparation and service, with a vegetable sink on one side, as well as stainless steel Bosch and Jenn-Air appliances including two ovens, a four-burner gas range with grill on the side, and a double basin sink. The kitchen is well equipped with the items you’d need for a holiday meal for the whole family or for a quick snack for the kids in the group. Off the kitchen, accessed through two arched entryways, is the formal dining room. Featuring a long table that seats 10 comfortably, this room has lovely views of the mountains across the valley. There is also a half bath near the kitchen, with an antique porcelain basin with hand-painted flowers on it. The huge master suite occupies the east wing of the home. This room has a King bed, a sitting area around an HDTV, a desk for those who have to bring some work along, access to the deck, and a walkin closet. The private bath has a dual-head shower, a pair of marble topped vanities with their own mirrors plus a lighted swing-out makeup mirror, and a two-person Jacuzzi tub. Upstairs are two bedroom suites. The one to the left of the stairs has a Queen bed and a bath with a tub/shower and a decorative antique stained glass window. The suite to the right of the stairs has a King bed and a sleeper sofa, triangular alcoves perfect for children to play in, and a private bath with a tub/shower. Downstairs is the entertainment level of the home. The ceilings throughout the lowest level are all 15’ high. Halfway down the stairs from the main level is a closet chock full of board games, ideal for the whole group to enjoy. All the way down is a brand new pool table, waiting for a friendly competition to strike up. There is another large TV down here, a 60” 3D set with surround sound and six pairs of 3D glasses, as well as a Wii console and a selection of games, plus three Wiimotes. A large couch with loungers on either end sits in front of the TV, waiting for the whole gang to pile up and watch a favorite flick. A reversible checkers/backgammon table is to the side of the room as well, as well as access to the double garage, and there is a door to the stone patio on the other side. The bedroom on this level is a Queen bedroom. The best morning views in the house can be seen from this room- simply open the blinds and enjoy the morning sunrise playing over the mountains. The 'Aspen Ski Loft at Beech Mountain' is a cozy cabin with large windows that provide amazing panoramic 100-mile long range views of the Appalachian Mountains. The Aspen Ski Loft is located just 50 steps from the slopes of Beech Mountain Ski Resort. The elevation of the Aspen Ski Loft is 5,200 feet, which ensures the views are awesome, cool weather during the summer, and lots of snow in the winter. Pet Fee: $100 per pet, maximum of 2. Pet conditions apply. Winter Holiday Weekends: $360 per night, with 3 night minimum. Winter Holiday Week: $2,275. Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Wizard of Oz, Woolly Worm, and Thanksgiving Weekends: $150 per night, with 3 night minimum, which is $450 for the 3 night stay. Spring Special: $95 per week day night; $119 per week end night. September Special: $95 per week day night; $119 per week end night. November Special: $95 per week day night; $119 per week end night. The Aspen Ski Loft is located at Beech Mountain, North Carolina, the highest elevation incorporated town east of the Rocky Mountains. Although the road is maintained by the Town of Beech Mountain, the Aspen Ski Loft is located right across the street from the ski slopes. Therefore there is blowing snow that accumulates on the road. A 4-Wheel / All-Wheel drive vehicle or snow chains are strongly recommended during the winter months. During the winter months, you have access to all the wonderful winter sports within walking distance of the Aspen Ski Loft, including downhill skiing, tubing, sledding, ice skating and cross-country skiing. There are three other ski resorts located within a 25 minute drive (Sugar Mountain, Appalachian, and Hawksnest). The Blue Ridge Parkway is located just 15 miles from Beech Mountain, offering a beautiful 2 hour drive to Asheville, North Carolina. Access to Beech Mountain Club - Golf, Tennis, Swim: Guests of the Aspen Ski Loft have access to the exclusive Beech Mountain Club, with access to golf, swimming, tennis courts, and the Fitness Center. For a small fee, guests have access to the Beech Mountain Club, with 18 hole Golf, Golf Clubhouse, fitness center, private restaurant, Children's Day Camp, tennis, Olympic pool and hiking. Contact the owner of the Aspen Ski Loft for more information about access to the Beech Mountain Club. Should you want to eat out, several great restaurants are very close by, whether it is a 10 minute drive into Banner Elk or 17 mile drive to Boone. Great for couples, honeymooners, retirees, snowbirds, young people, golfers, tennis players, skiers, snowboarders, tubers, etc.
