The SpaceGreat family home on Burt Mountain. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Very comfy and great for families, kids and pets. Yes, if you have a pooch, he or she can come too. I have a nice fenced in yard. It is a wire cattle fence, so if you have a tiny dog, keep an eye out. I am 20 mins from downtown Asheville and about 30 min from the Biltmore Mansion. It is quiet and cozy if you just want to hang out in the country or close enough to town if you want some excitement. Three bedrooms have queens sized beds and the last bedroom has a full. It is fully stocked with linens and towels. The kitchen has all the gadgets you need. No TV, no phone, no internet, there is AC (but you don't need it all the time) and, of course, heat in the colder months. Verizon gets best cell phone service. Navitat Canopy Zip Line Tours about 2 miles away. Lots of local hiking. Property extends across road to creek which is the North Fork of the Big Ivy. Local dirt road from Barnardsville leads to Craggy Gardens on Blue Ridge Parkway. Great hiking in Pisgah National Forest. Super friendly farmer's market on Saturday mornings at either old firestation or community center. Public pool at community center. Feel free to contact me via Airbnb messaging if the dates you desire are not listed. I sometimes block off dates so that bookings don't get too close to each other. If you are a repeat guest, I would love to offer you a loyalty discount. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire home and property. Interaction with GuestsExpect a visit from either myself, a family member, or family friend during your visit to see how your stay is going.

The SpaceIt’s so quiet, wild, and peaceful here. The mountain view is breathtaking, and it changes every moment. But it’s not just eye candy. It’s the way the breezes feel. The cacophony of owls, nighthawks, coyotes, rare birds, swirling winds. This cove is considered one of the most biodiverse regions in the country. The sunsets go on for hours. The stars are out by the millions. It’s so wild here, you won’t believe you’re only 20 minutes from the cosmopolitan city of Asheville, the “Paris of the South”. The cabin is really cute. It has high ceilings, a separate bedroom, desk, and bed loft. The ceiling is vaulted in the bedroom, with high windows so you can see the stars and the fireflies from the bed! Everyone that comes here remarks that it's the best view they've ever seen. You can walk from the cabin around the land, to the private and secluded creeks, meadows and forests, and up into the cove. However, you should know the cabin is quite rustic. It is not possible to keep wasps and bees out. There is a mouse that lives here. That being said, it's very comfortable. There's one queen bed and one full sized futon up in a tight loft, so if there is a second person or couple, the sleeping space is not spacious. THIS TIME OF YEAR IT IS VERY COLD. The cabin is not very insulated. There is a propane heater and a wood stove but the bedroom stays cold so best to sleep in the loft or the futon in the living room. But please be prepared. This time of year it is for hardy guests only! It's rustic nature makes it impossible to keep it spotless, so if you like spotless you should find a modern place in town. But I do keep it as clean as possible and if you're willing to trade a little dust for an incredible view and the most wild and beautiful nature with room to roam, this is for you. Guest AccessMost cell phones work fine here. Verizon is best. The second bed is a futon up in the loft .. which is not for everyone. Bit of a tight space. It's a full kitchen. You can help yourself to some oils and spices and cookware. We have 35 acres with some gorgeous spots to explore, a creek , and a historic tobacco barn. There is hiking from the cabin although until we have a chance to do some trail blazing it can be hard to find. Interaction with GuestsHow much would you like? I am around! The NeighborhoodThis may be the most beautiful neighborhood I've ever seen. There's wildlife and homesteading neighbors. Getting AroundA car is necessary. Other Things to NoteThe cabin does not lock. It is a very very safe area, no one in this whole town lock their doors.

The SpaceThis cozy pioneer cabin was built in the 1840s by the Scots/Irish settlers of our surrounding mountains. It served as the main residence until the 1930s and was used as a pottery studio from 2003-2011. We have restored its basic amenities. It has a comfortable queen bed with convertible futon couch for an additional adult guest or two small children. There is a microwave, coffee/tea maker, spring water dispenser (our water is the best!) and a small fridge in the cabin. Cindy is a professional potter and she and Rod are organic vegetable market growers. The cabin is surrounded by the gardens, potter's studio and showroom, chicken houses, greenhouses, barn and mushroom yard. Our house is right next door. A wonderful mountain stream flows through the property. This is a great place for a writer's retreat or as a jumping off point for the many opportunities our mountains have to offer. Downtown Asheville is only 35 minutes away. Guest AccessPrice includes a daily home-cooked breakfast for two* with a small charge for extra guests, if applicable. The cabin is not plumbed, but there is a full bathroom with shower 50 feet away, private entrance. Wi-Fi is available, but cell service is sketchy. Evening meals are also available for an additional charge of $18 per person. Menus change with the season. Or, you can join us for 'leftover night' and donate to the cause! *-Rentals longer than six nights will be provided with a Continental breakfast basket delivered to the cabin or as otherwise agreed upon with the guest. Interaction with GuestsInteraction with the guest is up to the guest. If you want solitude, we'll leave you alone. However, you are welcome to sit on our front porch (next door to the cabin) or take class with us. You can even help collect the eggs! We offer a variety of fee-based classes on basic homesteading, pottery demonstrations, fermentation, bread/biscuit making, cheese making, shiitake mushroom production and more. Class fees are set based on length and complexity and should be booked in advance of the visit. The NeighborhoodWe live in Madison County, NC. This is a very rural and rugged county straddling both the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge mountains bordering Tennessee. The area is popular for hiking (including the Appalachian Trail and Mountain to Sea Trail) , ski resorts, white-water rafting and boating, Zip-lines (we're across the ridge from Navitat), the Blue Ridge Parkway, historical sites, art venues, Penland School of Craft, ballad singing, mountain music venues, live theater (Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre) and more. Getting AroundNo public transportation is available here. Other Things to NoteWe will provide you with brochures and maps describing the many activities available in our area. There are restaurants in Mars Hill and Weaverville. We are only 35 minutes from Asheville and all that it offers. This is a working mini-farm so appropriate footwear is a must, especially in inclement weather.

The SpaceThis unique, 500 sq ft cedar cabin is a rare haven for artists, writers and nature lovers (hint-hint! we are looking for peaceful folks) who are craving deep woods and clean air. Its clean, quiet, and surrounded by high mountain woods: gorgeous no matter what the season. Due to the eccentricities of deep woods living, it is important that you read the entire description here before booking. The place is a bit less "secluded" in winter because you can visually see our main house, which is more hidden in summer by the foliage. Dogs, cats okay. No smoking indoors. For your sanity and mental health, this cabin does not include a TV. Here's a rundown: - WIFI - Queen bed - Full bath & shower - Coffeemaker or Chemex - Kitchenette with dishes/pots/pans/basics - Canvases and paints if you want them - Refrigerator (can be stocked with eggs, fresh fruit, vegetables upon request) - Wood burning stove with starter logs and firewood stacked by the door - 6 acres of trails and woods, hammock, firepit, garden (you can eat from it in warm weather) THIS HOUSE DOES NOT OFFER: - Television - Drive-up parking / Handicap access - Air conditioning in summer (you truly don't need it) It is not possible to pull a vehicle straight up to the front door. Truly a country cottage, guests must be prepared to park their car and walk 200 feet uphill (see photos) to reach the door. Umbrellas and flashlights are provided upon request. There are outdoor lights on the house which can be helpful, though we turn out all lights on the main house after 10 pm. While our main house is on the property, we're very quiet, private people. If you need us, you have access, but otherwise you won't know we're there. Guest AccessLAND Guests may roam freely on the land and in the woods (6 acres), which have a few trails, cultivated spots for resting and meditiation, hammock, fire pits and wet weather creeks. LAUNDRY We have laundry at the main house and can coordinate access for longer stay renters. Interaction with GuestsBecause of the rural nature of the cabin and its eccentricities, we like to give you a 5 minute walk-through upon arrival. After that we are available as needed if you are needing help or have questions. The NeighborhoodBarnardsville, NC is a very small postal town, bordered by Weaverville, NC, Marshall, NC, Mars Hill, NC and Burnsville, NC. The nearest place to buy groceries (unless you shop in gas stations) is in nearby Weaverville. Barnardsville offers Navitat Zipline Canopy Adventures, a few lonesome shops, a post office, and not much else. If you like deep country, this is it! Getting AroundThe cottage is 19.2 miles to downtown Asheville. The drive takes 25-30 minutes. Nearby downtown Weaverville is about a 15 minute drive. The nearest convenience store is 4 miles away, open until 10 pm. If you like our quiet place and want to journey off to similarly peaceful destinations, we suggest Hot Springs, NC (for their hot springs), Shoji (in Asheville, for their japanese hot tubs), Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway (20 minutes) or any trailtrekking in Pisgah National Forest (8 miles away!). Other distances: Mars Hill College: 10 minutes Marshall NC: 30 minutes Hot Springs NC: 45-50 minutes Navitat Ziplines: 10 minutes Other Things to Note - 2 Occupant Limit. In many cases, especially with children present, 3 can comfortably stay here, but we ask that you inquire first. - Absolutely no parties or loud music - Pets are welcome with $100 deposit

We have a prius so all wheel drive is not necessary but it is nice for the mountain curves and steep driveways in the area. There are 3 routes into Asheville, all incredibly scenic and beautiful. Our favorite one is Reems Creek to the amazing Blue Ridge Parkway! Other Things to NoteA light breakfast is included (oatmeal, teas, coffee, fruits, etc.) We love furried friends but they are extremely hard to clean up after so we require you to tell us about your pal(s) before a reservation is confirmed. There is a $90 pet fee. Since we have to pay for the cleaning there are no exceptions to this fee! There is a fenced in backyard for your pals to run around, pet owners must scoop their friends leftovers with the shovel outside and throw it over the mountain! Driveway can be muddy after rain, sometimes its best to park at bottom and walk up (nice workout!) if you dont have all wheel drive. The driveway can be challenging if you've never driven in the Mountains, it is steep and curves around. If you are unsure just park at the bottom or at the midway point before it curves around and walk the rest of way! Unless you have Verizon or Us Cellular you likely won't have a signal or it will be very spotty but we have fast wifi so you can always be connected to the Internet, send iMessages, FaceTime, (website hidden) Voice, make T-mobile wifi calls (and some other carriers).
