Upstairs: 2 BR, both with queen beds (one w. deck overlooking gardens), bath #2, reading nook. Outside: brick terrace, gas grill, large yard, outdoor shower, off-street parking. We live in a separate unit in the front part of the house, and will be available to assist guests during their stay. Barnstable Village is full of Cape Cod charm. Within a short walk, you can reach coffee shops, the town library, retail stores, three restaurants, the village market, town beach and marina. Further afield are all the natural, historic, and cultural attractions of Cape Cod. Guest AccessWe have a big yard (over an acre). Lots of room for kids to play & adults to hang out. We have bats, balls, gloves, frisbees and croquet. Interaction with GuestsBecause the apartment is in a separate wing from the main house, guests need not interact with us unless they wish to. But we're happy to chat over a cup of coffee if you like! The NeighborhoodThis is a lovely, welcoming neighborhood where friends & strangers alike greet each other on their walks. It's also an ideal place to walk, with mostly flat or gently sloping terrain, and Main Street (Route 6A) is a famously scenic street with gracious homes and lovely views. Not so great for biking (narrow and curvy), but you can do that elsewhere on the Cape. We're three doors down from an excellent local library, a 5-minute walk to good restaurants, with a small beach at the end of our street and a nicer one just over a mile away. And our favorite beaches in Dennis and Osterville are within a 15-20 minute drive. Starting in 2016, guests will be provided with a beach pass valid for free parking at beaches throughout the town of Barnstable, which includes not only Barnstable Village itself but also the villages of Hyannis, Centerville, Osterville and Cotuit. We encourage you to use the pass as often as you like, but it must be returned to the apartment at the end of your stay. Loss of the beach pass will result in forfeiture of the security deposit. Getting AroundWhile there is some public transportation on the Cape, you will need a car to fully enjoy your stay on Cape Cod. The apartment comes with off-street parking for two cars. Other Things to NoteInteresting fact: our house and two other buildings nearby were featured on an episode of the National Geographic archaeology TV show "Diggers." Among the artifacts they found in our back yard: colonial-era coins, a garter clip and a Model T Ford hubcap.
