The SpaceThis new listing (please see also our Gallery apARTments Battery Point listing) is the original house attached to the Gallery. It offers a unique and refreshing alternative to conventional accommodation. At the same time both spaces are not at all quaint, or cloistered with history. The art works throughout are contemporary and the furniture is an eclectic mix of mid century pieces and funky contemporary. The first impression is a pleasant surprise. Whilst having the excitement of Art Gallery living, no sacrifice has been made for comfort. Many extra decorator items are added, including glassware and crockery, books and objects to look at and pass the time with. Guests have commented how they immediately feel relaxed and on holiday upon arrival Guest AccessThere is a garden at the back and upstairs a deck with views of the yachts (Sydney/Hobart finish etc) Off street parking is included and the Waterfront, Salamanca Place and City is in walking distance. We do not live on the premises and once we have met with the key the place is yours until you leave. Arrival and checkout times are negotiated with flexibility, no set rules The NeighborhoodBattery Point must be one of the Hot Spots in the world as far as interest, beauty and convenience go. Everyone seems to love it, it has so much written about it. This history is not just in the chronological sense, but in the richness of the characters and personalities who have passed through. It is the most inner city Hobart suburb and attracts all sorts of people, as are these places in all big (URL HIDDEN) also has a heritage of shipwrights, sailors, travellers and writers from Charles Darwin to Sir Francis Chichester, Mark Twain to John Cleese. Battery Point has an authenticity and harks back to seafaring, whaling days and a town full of identities, whilst at the same time is up to the minute with all fashions and trends in food, music, art, writing and contemporary culture, and full of interesting inhabitants. Getting AroundThe airport bus stops right outside the Gallery and House. It is well knows to bus and taxi drivers. It is a five to ten minute walk into Salamanca Place, where you can catch ferries to MONA and down to Peppermint Bay. Also sea planes and helicopter rides and Harley Davidson rides. The tourist information bureau is also nearby where you can book tours. You can walk to two Theatres, dozens of coffee shops and restaurants and all the Waterfront Bars and clubs. It is a great place!

The Space1 Sandy Bay Road, Hobart. You couldn't ask for a better location. This is a spacious furnished and equipped apartment with copious amounts of natural light, comfortably sleeps 2 people in a Queen Bed. (Message me if you want an earlier check-in or a later check-out, I'll try my best to accommodate). So, if you (and your partner) want the convenience of a central location, where fantastic waterfront restaurants serving local fish and produce are within 2 minutes walk, you've found your second home. Hobart is a small city, so why not enjoy the culture and festivities that it has to offer, including the 2 minute walk to the MONA ferry and Port Arthur ferry and Bruny Island ferry. Or you could walk across the park to Salamanca market, historic Battery Point around the corner (5 mins) or a lovely stroll down to Sandy Bay village (10 mins), or if you keep on going, head down to Lower Sandy Bay and enjoy the beach and playground (25 mins). Or you could walk up to North Hobart (20 mins) to enjoy the mix of ethnic cultures and food, including Indian, Japanese, Thai and of course, Italian! And if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, rent a car from one of the 4 different car rental agencies which are 2 minutes walk from the apartment and take a drive down to the Huon Valley, or up to Mt. Field National Park or even over to the East Coast. A day trip to one of these destinations will surely make you look forward to coming home to your relaxing and spacious abode. Guest AccessAccess to the building is only available from 8am – 8pm (Monday to Friday) and 9am – 5pm (Saturday/Sunday, and Public Holidays). If you are arriving outside of these access times, special arrangements need to be made with the Care Taker. The building is a renovated solid Art Deco structure, with secure key entry and lift access to the apartment. Guests will have full access to this modern apartment and all services and amenities in the apartment, including, hair dryer, washing/drying machine, iron and ironing board. WiFi is available at a cost - user pays (registered through Docomo). Fresh sheets and towels are provided and some toiletries. WiFi is available for guests but it's a user pays service via DoCoMo (See WiFi networks available on your device to pay and access) Interaction with GuestsYour will be the only people residing in this apartment, therefore you can expect full privacy. The NeighborhoodThis central location is fantastic. It is close to the CBD and parks, historic sites and the market life of Salamanca. And if you really enjoy fish or seafood, head down to the various seafood eateries along the waterside. You also have the convenience of renting a car from one of the 4 car rental agents in the next few streets, to be able to explore the local sites scattered around Hobart and beyond. By the way, there is no parking for cars in the building, but there is plenty of street parking alternatives. Getting AroundPublic transport is available on the Metro Bus system. There are bus stops on both sides of the building and you may want to use one of them to travel locally. One of the stops is used as an Airport Pick Up and Drop Off point. Alternatively, apart from public transport, you can rent a car from one of the 4 car rental agencies in Harrington Street. Other Things to NoteThis apartment in the Mantra Hotel. It was purchased last year and I was living in it as a resident on and off for the last 2 years. But now I am about to venture overseas for several months. As this apartment is no longer one of Mantra's properties, they are not responsible for guests staying in my apartment. If you have any problems, please contact the caretaker (Michael) for any issues. Also, please try to use the Sandy Bay Road entrance as it is easier to access the lift directly to the apartment.

The SpaceArthouse Salamanca is a beautifully refurbished heritage listed cottage , generous in size and is on two levels. Arthouse features a stunning, uplifting light-filled modern living space that flows onto the north facing terrace which features beautiful convict-cut sandstone walls, one of which happens to be the oldest sea wall in Australia, with views to the River Derwent. There are two gorgeously appointed bedrooms with queen size beds. The main bedroom offers river views from the bed complete with open plan ensuite and freestanding bath, inspiring and romantic. The second equally beautiful bedroom has garden and park views. There is a separate dressing room with daybed that adjoins both bedrooms. The main bathroom, which is located on the lower level, has a walk in shower set against convict sandstone wall with a fully concealed Míele Laundry. The full gourmet kitchen has a well-stocked complimentary pantry to cook up a storm; fabulous fresh produce shopping is just a hop, skip and a jump down the road. Arthouse has a fabulous secret sandstone den with a large built in sofa to lie on with a friend and listen to music or watch a film. There is an interesting eclectic selection of books, films and music to enjoy, all in the company of a notable art collection. Please note: There is a full set of stairs, the bedrooms and dressing room are all located on the upper level. The main bathroom is located on the lower level along with kitchen and open plan living and dining area. Guest AccessArthouse is a self contained home, guests have full access to the entire house. Interaction with Guestsby email and phone The NeighborhoodGuest will experience being part of the local community, having a beautiful house that feels like home. Arthouse Salamanca is perfectly positioned, situated at the quiet cul-de-sac end of Salamanca Place, Battery Point, next to Princes Park. A minute’s walk and you are in the heart of Salamanca with galleries, restaurants, cafés, bars and the famous Saturday market. Arthouse is on the doorstep to the major waterfront festivals, MONA FOMA, the Wooden Boat Festival, Taste Festival to name a few! It is a three minute walk to the waterfront docks where you can jump on the boat to Mona, Peppermint Bay, and Derwent River cruises, or perhaps an aerial view from a seaplane. Watch the boats come in as we are only 500 metres to the Sydney Hobart finish line. Everything is within walking distance of the historic city of Hobart It is a 20 minute drive from Hobart airport and 1½hrs drive to Freycinet Coast. A further 2.20hrs drive to Launceston and a 3hr drive to Arthouse Bay of Fires, our beautiful seaside beach house. Other Things to NoteThe house could not be more perfect, both in location and character. Apart from the convenience of the situation, so close to the Wharf area, restaurants and shops, its aspect looking out over the river gives a dimension of spaciousness and a sense of being well and truly in Hobart. The house itself, with its heritage backbone, is charming in every way. It has been renovated with an eye to comfort as well as style, and I deeply appreciated the efficient and unobtrusive central heating. It is above all, a home, with all the convenience and thoughtfulness that one would put into one's own home. And gorgeous to boot. I could not recommend it more highly - it even has proper reading lights, so often missing even in 5 star hotels and resorts. Kate, Sydney 2013

The SpaceThis retro apartment has the big windows and airy aspect of classic buildings of the 60s era. The furnishings and fittings reflect this. It has an open plan living area with a breakfast bench and comfy window seat. People have commented how they immediately feel at home here. There are two bedrooms - a main one with a double bed, and a second one, which is used as study, contains a single bed. Guest AccessGuests can use a small, sunny balcony. There is also rooftop access to a space which provides 360 degree views of the river, mountain and surrounds. In the summer months it is a great spot for a sun downer. New Year's fireworks can be viewed from here. Interaction with GuestsI provide maps and information about local things to do nearby. Also very happy to draw on my extensive knowledge of Hobart for more tailored information if requested. The NeighborhoodI love this neighbourhood because of its proximity to Salamanca and the city. It is also one of Hobart's most charming precincts and it is a delight to wander the streets, admire the homes and gardens and take in the glimpses of the river and mountain. There are also two beautiful parks, perfect for picnics. One of my favourite places to go to from here is for a walk up the Linear park trail. The 3km trail runs along side a creek (I once saw a platypus there!) and culminates at the Cascade Brewery. The brewery provides an iconic view and is also great place for a refreshing beer in their gardens. Getting AroundThe city, Salamanca and docks are readily accessed by foot from this apartment (5-10 minutes). It is also on the Red Decker bus route, which is used by tourists to view many of Hobart's attractions. As well as this, there are bus stops nearby which service the University of Tasmania and Hobart's southern suburbs. Other Things to NoteThis apartment is located on a busy road near traffic lights which include a pedestrian button that makes a soft beep. So, it can be noisy especially at peak hour, though it calms down at night. The apartment is on the second floor and there is no lift/elevator. The apartment is maintained and cleaned, but it does show signs of age.

The Space2-night stays: We sometimes make exceptions to our "3-night-minimum-stay-rule". If you spot a 2-day opening that interests you, contact us and we may make you an offer that overrides the airbnb default setting of 3-nights minimum. Our loft is one large, rustic, open space with it's own entrance (ex plumber's workshop). No internal doors anywhere (bathroom excepted). Three levels. VERY quiet downstairs double bedroom, a European style double bed with quality mattresses, pillows and doonas (=duvets). Raised mezzanine platform over the main space for a bit of out-of-the-way sitting (no beds there; too noisy in frequent high winds, too bright, too small for a double bed - sorry!). Most walls in the loft and in the small overflow bedroom are lime-washed for healthy internal climate. Kitchen! Council regulations preclude us from having a full kitchen. But we are allowed to provide a "food preparation area" with an inverter microwave, one induction hot plate, a toaster, a kettle and a bar fridge/freezer (see photos). All a bit Monty Python, but so be it. This, together with a range of useful electric appliances in the not prohibited category, various coffee makers, egg boiler/frier/poacher and filtered drinking water will help you prepare quite a range of foods. There is an efficient heat pump in the loft, a panel heater in the bedroom and a bar heater in the bathroom. All linen and towels provided (we don't use chemical fabric softeners, nor do we iron bed linen or towels - a bit rustic ;-). Hand- and shower soap and shampoo/conditioner are provided. Electric blankets installed in all beds (during the cold season). Extra doonas in the cupboards of both sleeping spaces. Simply, creatively furnished. A touch rustic. Water glimpses and pleasant garden views. Overflow bedroom: There is also a separate, small, comfortable overflow bedroom five steps under cover from the loft entrance. The room has a 1.4m x 2m double bed with a new inner spring mattress and quality bedding. The overflow bedroom is there to take an extra person. This overflow bedroom can also be used if one in a party of two people wants to sleep in a separate bedroom. But you need to agree in advance to an extra fee of $20/night if one person in a party of two wants to use this option. Guest AccessAirport Shuttle: Ask for the De Witt St stop, Battery Point. Walk through the little public park that you will see when you get off. When you exit the park on the other side, the loft is diagonally left accross the street, 18B St Georges Tce. There is guaranteed free car parking in the close vicinity or right in front of the loft. This is how it works: If regular un-timed (free) parking spots in the street are occupied you can then legally park over the driveway that leads straight down to the loft. Interaction with GuestsWe leave you alone, once you have moved in. But we are also happy to help with ideas for sight seeing and activities and solve any problems that might arise during your stay. Deutsch, Français, Italiano spoken. Welcome! The NeighborhoodThe loft is in Battery Point, as close as you can get to most of the action in Hobart. Battery Point retains a village atmosphere and is part of the must-see areas of Tasmania. 10 pleasant minutes walk through quaint Battery Point, without crossing any large roads takes you to Salamanca Market, a fine supermarket, a quality deli, countless eateries, the harbour (Mona ferry/bus terminal) and the spectacular, re-opened Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG). Add another 5 minutes to the Hobart CBD. Acclaimed cafés, pubs, ethnic eateries and bakery nearby at 5 min walk. Coles / Woolworth 8-10 mins walk in the opposite direction (Sandy Bay), using the fitness promoting ;-) steps of Nanny Goat Lane. Getting AroundUsing a public bus is a science to itself ... Walking is the preferred and most enjoyable way of getting around Battery Point and the inner city. Other Things to NoteMONA is closed on Tuesdays.

The SpaceMy house is a very short walk to the quaint centre of Battery Point along with it's fantastic eateries, historic buildings and views down the river. A mere stroll to Salamanca which I can wander around for a whole morning!!!! Or the business centre of Hobart. A 1905 old school building with high ceilings makes it feel grander than it's footprint. A courtyard/deck could see you partaking in brekky overlooked by Mt Wellington. The sunny private bedroom has a relaxing area upstairs - great place to read a book in the sun, and a double futon bed downstairs with desk area if needed. The house has amenities of TV, internet, heating, eat in kitchen and separate dinning room, and lounge. Plus the friendly cat who will greet you if she is around.! Central to everything on offer around Hobart. I love cooking so would enjoy sharing meals or you could may be able to use the facilities. You can look up the Tassie trips you can do elsewhere. Having lived in Tassie for 22 years - I have lots of local knowledge to share. Guest AccessThere is a lounge, and eat-in kitchen which has my office/work/junk space!!! All of which you are most welcome to share with me. Also a joint bathroom in the centre of the place is well appointed. Interaction with GuestsI'm a shift working at the hospital and work permanent night duty. If I'm rostered on, I leave at 21.30 and return around 0800 to crawl into bed for a sleep until 1630 if working again or earlier if not. I sleep through most things but but unusual sleeping times do need to be considered. Most people are out sight seeing so it has never been an issue. The NeighborhoodWhat can you say about one of the oldest villages in Australia with its beautiful cottages and magnificent large homes overlooking the river. It has a village atmosphere with some lovely eateries and tempting shops. If water is your thing: well the docks are only 10min stroll, with fishing boats and sailing ships to fill your heart. Art/Markets - that 10 min stroll takes you into Salamanca and the Mona Ferry and access to all the music and food festivals Hobart is famous for. Getting AroundStaying here and doing Hobart only is by foot! If you want to venture afield you can organise a tour which usually pick up just at the end of my street (50m). Cars can be parked on the street with 3 hour parking and very rare inspectors! Getting from the airport: Taxi is about 15-20 mins and around $45 in the day. Bus is approx $18 per person and drops at end of road, after lots of other drop offs, so you get to see the city.

The SpaceWe are delighted to provide you with the opportunity to stay in our beautifully restored, early 1900s dwelling. We hope to provide you a lightly luxurious experience in the way a lucky local would live. The house is of medium size with 2 main large bedrooms, 1 smaller bedroom, 2 bathrooms (one with separate toilet, one shower, one bath) and comfortably suits up to 5 guests. We think we have the basics right (luxury queen beds, hotel quality linen, pillows, doonas and towels, shampoo, conditioner, soaps and hairdryers provided, central heating, electric blankets in the master bedroom, fully functioning kitchen, washing machine and dryer, immaculately cleaned, soft neutral furnishings that hopefully will suit most tastes, 2 bikes available on request, extra TV in the master bedroom…) and we enjoy sprinkling a little magic (leaving a few extra treats) before your arrive to surprise and delight. If it is a special occasion or you can think of something particular you may need for your stay when booking, let us know as it is likely we will be able to assist. In Hobart for work? Sitting at the medium sized desk in the sun room just off the master bedroom is a great place to create or fine tune a presentation or report or simply clear out those emails. I’ve tackled difficult projects here myself a few times and it almost doesn’t feel like work sitting here… Guest AccessYou will have full access to the house. Two sections of the wardrobes are not accessible still leaving you with ample hanging and storage space. A 10 - 15 minute walk will take you into Hobart’s CBD or, in the other direction, into Sandy Bay which has Coles, Woolworths and a strip of retail outlets. An iconic bakery and selection of great cafes are just a few minutes stroll from your sunny doorstep and ready to serve your morning coffee. Sip your favourite beverage or ignite the small Weber BBQ on a warm day on the deck and glimpse the yachts sailing into the harbour or back to their local sailing club. Getting AroundOne of the things we love about living in this area is that walking can be your primary source of transport. We also have 2 good bikes (1 male, 1 female) with helmets if you would like to borrow them during your stay.
