The SpaceWe refer to our master suite as the Cedar Room. The room is bright, large and outfitted with aromatic cedar trim and handmade aromatic cedar furniture. The attached bathroom features one of a kind cedar fixtures, heated floors and a spa style shower. If more than two guests are visiting, we have a second quiet, comfortable, private room with two twin beds and a detached bathroom available. There are closets in both rooms. Guest AccessIn the house you will basically have your run of the main floor which includes 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living space with TV, a dining room, direct access to the deck and limited access to the kitchen (we keep a small shelf free for guest use in the fridge and in the cabinets, a toaster oven and hot water is available but guests are not permitted to use the stove).
We have a fantastic natural environment on site to enjoy. We operate a permaculture inspired system of orchards, woodlands and fowl. We have a large picnic shelter with fire ring, an expansive westerly facing deck, parking for your car, and substantial off road parking if necessary. Interaction with GuestsYou are very welcome in our home. We love to chat and meet new people, but we are also respectful of the fact that you may wish to be given space and enjoy the peace and stillness. We typically cook 2-3 meals each day so you will see us in the kitchen and on our way in and out of the house.
You'll have access to a coffeemaker with local organic coffee and tea.
With prior notice, and for a reasonable price, we will be happy to prepare a gluten-free, non-gmo, local, organic, evening meal and/or breakfast for you. Please ask about this option when inquiring about booking. The NeighborhoodHockinson, our unincorporated small town of less than 5000, is a great location to settle in and unplug or to take advantage of hiking trails, swimming holes, rivers, waterfalls, wildlife, and wineries that are all within striking distance. If you're feeling the itch to hit the town, downtown Portland's exceptional food, craft beer and music scene is only a 30-minute drive (Uber and Lyft service this area - safety first!). We're also conveniently located just 30-minutes from Portland International Airport.
Battle Ground, about 10 min away, has any services and shops you may need. It has a great "old town" feel, and if you love unique finds, it has some of the best antique shops in the area.
The historical Mount St. Helens, and it's surrounding trails and vistas are also within an hours drive. Getting AroundThere is essentially no access to mass transit, so you will need a vehicle. We have room in our driveway for your car, and plenty of room just off of the driveway for trucks. Other Things to NoteWe highly recommend bringing hearty footwear, if you plan to meander around the property - we're not living on a perfectly manicured lot, so the grasses and blackberries may tickle your tootsies.
Our chickens would love to meet you, but please check in with us before going into their run.
Speaking of chickens, we do, on occasion, have predator issues. When necessary a firearm may be used, but please note that you will not see or be in the same room as it. Please let us know if this is a concern for you - we are happy to answer any further questions.
