The SpaceThis is a private bedroom located on the first floor of a two-story house. It has a dresser, mirror, closet, night stand, an AC unit during the summer, and a queen size bed, with wifi. Right next to the bedroom is your bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels and washcloths provided. To the left of the room is the large, open concept kitchen/dining room/living room where you'll have access to fridge, cabinets, microwave, dishwasher, sink. Our bedroom/bathroom is upstairs, so once you arrive, we will most likely head upstairs so you can have the entire bottom half of the house. We will occasionally be fixing food in the kitchen. Otherwise, we'll try to stay out of your way. Guest AccessYou'll have access to the bedroom, the bathroom that is next to it, the kitchen (to heat food up/store left overs. We like to limit the use of the stove/oven due to safety), dining room, and living room. You have the entire bottom half of the house to use. Interaction with GuestsWe'll be happy to help you set up an itinerary for Long Island, Fire Island, or NYC visit. You give us a list of the things you want to see and we'll tell you how to get there and get the most out of your stay.
In March 2016, Long Island Pulse magazine, wrote an article named, "Bay Shore: The Foodie Town to Pay Attention to Now." So we have plenty of great recommendations for restaurants! The NeighborhoodThe house is located on a quiet street with about 10 houses on it. Each house on our block has families with children. Your room is in the quietest part of the house, which is at the back of the house, facing our fenced-in backyard. Getting AroundYou can park on the street in front of house or in our driveway.
We live 2 blocks north of the Bay Shore train station. A 10 minute walk south of our house will get you to Main Street in Bay Shore which has a lot of adorable shopping, great new foodie restaurants, and some wonderful bars for nightlife. A 13 minute walk from Main Street brings you to the small town beach and spray park.
We live 1.5 miles directly north of the Bay Shore ferry terminal. It's about a 20 minute walk. Or we have bikes you can use to ride to the terminal, lock up (unfortunately you can't bring them on the ferry with you, they don't allow it), then grab the bikes when you return and ride back to the house. Also, if we're around the house, we can just drive you down there and/or pick you up.
A 15 minute drive will bring you to Robert Moses state park beach.
You are a 45 minute drive to LI's long list of wineries on the North Fork, or if you visit the South Fork, you'll get to experience the best the Hamptons has to offer. Other Things to NotePlease be aware that we have a 10 year old female pug and a 1 year old female sphynx cat. If you are not an animal lover or have allergies, this is not the place for you. The pug will bark at you when you first arrive, but she doesn't bite. If you give her a belly rub she'll love you forever.
Please don't use candles, incense, etc. in the room/open area for safety reasons.
