The SpaceAccommodations: The resident cabin is a snug 10 x 12 foot building with two twin beds. There is a plug for electricity, along with sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. Take advantage of our outdoor shower near the main building. "The Manor House" with its chemical toilet is adjacent to the cabin for night time necessity. During the day, however, there is access to the full bath in the main house.
Your stay includes a country breakfast that will be delivered to the cabin at a mutually agreed upon time.
Guest AccessThe main house is generally closed to the public. We do however have a full bath that is available for your convenience during the day.
Please free to explore our five acres with their woodsy trails. Three acres consist of our Pampered Produce organic fields, overflowing with hand-tilled vegetables and flowers. Commune with our two pigs, three goats and two rabbits and 75 chickens.
Interaction with GuestsWe'll be working around the grounds during much of your visit. Your privacy will be respected. Yet we'll be happy to provide suggestions on what to see and do around Milwaukee. The NeighborhoodLocated in the village of River Hills in northern Milwaukee County, we are surrounded by charming scenery and gracious homes. Walkable to next door is the historic Lynden Sculpture Garden with its 40 landscaped acres and 50 monumental sculptures. There is also shopping within a half mile.
We feel that our place provides a Zen-like, relaxing atmosphere for reading or loafing but close enough to cultural, entertainment and outdoors options. Of course, if you'd like to help weed the flower or potato beds, no offer of help is ever refused.
Getting AroundWe are merely 15 minutes to the heart of the city via freeway. This easy access by car or Freeway Flyer bus to downtown, makes our place perfect for a layover during Summerfest and the city's numerous ethnic festivals on the lakefront. It is a swift commute to the community's museums, art galleries, theaters, restaurants, the convention center and to Miller Park for Milwaukee Brewers baseball games.
Parking for your vehicle is on-site. A taxi ride is easiest from the airport, but shuttles to nearby hotels such as a Sheraton are available. When possible, we could pick you up at the closest available drop-off point. Other Things to NoteFor race fans, Road America at Elkhart Lake is about an hour north. Other nearby attractions include Old World Wisconsin in Eagle, the Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan, and the Kenosha Public Museum. For outdoor lovers, charter fish for trout and salmon in Lake Michigan, hike the Kettle Moraine forest leg of the Ice Age Trail or bike along any of the numerous linked trails throughout the area.
