The SpaceThis piece of property is at the end of a long finger that juts out into the sea. Its sloping lawns are surrounded by water: a pond, the Eastern Bay and open ocean. It is in a remote area of Maine where tourists seldom travel. Buy lobsters from the local fishermen, walk the beaches, count the eagles and stay in a home that is filled with art and light. Guest AccessCanoes, kayaks, row boat. Beautiful hikes on Great Wass Island, Bold Coast Trail. Puffins on Petit Manan, a short boat ride away. All the lobsters and steamers you could ever want to eat. The steamers in the bay are the sweetest I've ever tasted. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available by phone but the house will be all yours. The NeighborhoodIt is spectacularly beautiful. Every turn has another breathtaking view, but it is far from the maddening crowd. John Marin the 20 th century modernist painter chose to live just around the corner from this house because he thought the coast here was so beautiful. Many of his paintings depict this spot in the world. Getting AroundYou could fly into Portland or Bangor and rent a car. There is no public transportation, we are truly at the end of the world. The nearest place to buy milk is a 15 minute drive away.

The SpacePomp Island is a beautiful 37 acre island with a 3-bedroom log cabin where you can spend your vacation enjoying nature on the sea shore and in the woods. Come explore the shoreline and woods of Pomp. If you are quiet, you will see deer and a variety of birds including hawks and bald eagles. Greet the lobster men and women as they haul their traps around the island, and enjoy sunsets over Cadillac Mountain from the front porch. Bring your own (or rental) boat, kayak, or canoe and you can explore neighboring islands, each with their unique shoreline, beautiful coves, and small sandy beaches. You'll also see rocky outcroppings where harbor seals, cormorants, and gulls cluster. A mooring is available for a boat up to 18 feet in length; kayaks and canoes can be hauled on shore. Enjoy relaxing in the cozy cabin (please see pictures!) There are 2 bedrooms downstairs, each with a bunk bed, and 1 bedroom upstairs with a queen size bed. There is 1 bathroom downstairs with a toilet and shower. The kitchen, dining, and living areas are together in one open area with vaulted ceiling. The kitchen has a gas range, refrigerator, sink, and is furnished with cooking utensils and dinnerware. The dining area has a large dining table and chairs. In the living room you can keep warm with a nice fire in the wood stove and kick back with a book in a comfy chair or sofa. Pomp Island is off grid. Bottled gas provides energy for cooking, lights, and hot water. A cistern system is used to collect rain water for washing and showers but you will need to bring your own bottled water to drink! Cell phone reception is good. Pomp is not for everyone, but is truly a treasure for those who are looking to get away and enjoy the ocean, woods and island living of Down East Maine. Area Information: Pomp Island is about an hour north of Acadia National Park in Down East Maine. It is accessed from the mainland at Jonesport by bridge to Beals Island and then by a 10 minute boat ride. The Island is offshore about a half a mile and is surrounded by many other small islands. Each island is unique, many are uninhabited, and so are open for exploration. This area is a haven for kayakers, boaters, and nature lovers who enjoy some comforts but also the experience of living away from the hubbub of everyday life. Guest AccessWe provide the boat ride out and back for you and your gear. Kayaks and small boats are needed for exploring off of Pomp and can be rented in Ellsworth ME. This a beautifully renovated 4 bedroom oceanfront home with panoramic ocean views. It is located on Beals Island, Maine with wonderful kayaking, birdwatching, hiking, bicycling and dining opportunities. The downstairs has an open floorplan with banks of windows facing the, very close, sea. There is a ramp for handicap access and the downstairs bath is ADA compliant. Each bedroom contains a full double bed and there is a full American Leather sleeper sofa in the downstairs. The house is located in the fishing village of Beals, Maine. It is very close to the water. Beals is a lovely village for a stroll with many vantage points for panoramic views. Lobster boat trips are available as are fresh lobsters brought to your door, or back yard when the tide is high. This area is noted for it's stunning beauty and for many recreational opportunities. The seafood is considered by many to be the best in the world and can be enjoyed either at the house (with it's fully equipped kitchen, outdoor lobster cooker, or Weber grill) or at one of several excellent (and modestly priced) restaurants in the area. There is an excellent beach (Sandy River Beach) five miles from the house and the house is equipped with a beach umbrella, beach towels, folding chairs, and a cooler for your enjoyment. The water is chilly.

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are just a little over an hour away. The opposite direction up Route 1 takes you to the historic coastal towns of Eastport, Lubec, and Campobello State Park (FDR’s beautiful summer home.) The towns of Machias (host to famous Helen’s restaurant) and Cutler (home of Captain Andy Peterson’s popular Puffin Tour) are both just 30+ minutes away. Why the Owner Chose Addison: : My mother found this farm 45 years ago, choosing it as a place that would bring our family together. I have spent the past 45 summers here and now live here full-time. My children grew up here. My grandchildren love it. I moved the barn and converted it into an Art Barn, and living quarters. The barn has a separate parking area, separate well and septic system. The two units - the farmhouse which is for rent, and the barn - sit across from each other, separated by a wide lawn. Both look out at the West River and Crowley Island. The Unique Benefits of this Farmhouse: : Year Purchased: 1969 - Some of the unique benefits of the farm: a quiet environment to write and read and rest, views to draw or paint or photograph, the chance to study of wild flowers and wildlife, including birds found in 50 acres of wood and 20 acres blueberry land fronting on a tidal river. An island right across the tidal river makes for an exciting but relatively safe 2-hour kayak circumnavigation. The farm provides a safe, large tidal-river area for boating -though the current is strong and must be allowed for. There are many places to walk, to paint and sketch. The owner has her own studio in the barn, and encourages writers, artists and craftspeople of all types. Owner Description/Comments:: Susan Rich Sheridan. I am a 73 year old mother and grandmother, as well as a writer, a painter, a walker, a gardener.
