Located at 7200 in the Sierras on the Scenic Highway 4 corridor. Skiing and active winter sports are available in the winter. Outdoor recreation abounds in the Stanislaus National Forest and Calaveras Big Trees State Park from this condo Base Camp. The condo is located in the Bear Valley Village, offers easy access, but is still rustic in nature. We came for the winter and stayed for the summer. Our daughters and their friends have loved Bear Valley since they were pre-teens and they continue to escape here in their post-college years. Snow play, bouldering, wandering, fishing, biking, lounging, hiking...Alpine county has it all! What Bear Valley doesn't offer is glitz and glam. This is a true mountain village that will melt the tension from California urban life away. This unit features an upstairs bedroom loft with a queen sized bed and a downstairs double bed futon with single bunk above. It sleeps a total of 5 and a foldaway bed can be provided. On the way to Bear Valley, you can enjoy the wineries of the Mother Lode in Murphys and the surrounding area. A few miles up the hill you will find Calaveras Big Trees State Park and several recreational areas that offer zip lines and caving. Reservoirs and natural lakes fed by the Stanislaus River are along the route up Highway 4. You can take a detour to Columbia State Park and walk through the restored gold rush town and enjoy reenactments of California's Gold Rush days. Bear Valley is the perfect location to launch day hikes, fishing trips, road and mountain bike riding. In the winter, Bear Valley Ski Resort offers a family-friendly ski experience. Bear Valley Cross Country and the giant ski meadow is a 5 minutes walk from the condo. The Pacific Coast Trails Ebbets Pass trailhead is a short drive up the mountain. Bike and boat rentals are available at Bear Valley Adventure Company and all of the winter sport equipment can be rented in town and at the resort. Snowmobiling is popular in the Lake Alpine Sno Park area. Lake Alpine was rated the #1 family camping area in 2014 by Sunset Magazine. Lake Alpine is three miles away and you can stay in a condo instead of a tent. Lake Alpine has a paved bike/walking path around nearly 1/2 of its perimeter. It's hard to imagine, but unpopulated places like this DO still exist in the Sierras - where you can go for days without seeing or hearing anyone, your kids can play outside and just be kids, and your dog can romp off leash. If that sounds appealing, then Tyler's Cabin is for you. Tyler's Cabin is a remote and secluded 2-story A-frame situated on 5 acres of pristine mountain wilderness. The cabin is surrounded by pine trees and a wildflower-filled meadow, and backs up to U.S.F.S. land. So the cabin's location places you smack in the middle of your own personal sanctuary. The cabin is perfect for a peaceful romantic getaway, a family vacation, a writer and artist's retreat, or just a place to go to get away from it all and enjoy unspoiled nature. The cabin sleeps 6 people comfortably. Upstairs you'll find 2 semi-private sleeping areas divided by a staircase (each side has queen-sized beds), a ½ bath (toilet, sink and vanity). Downstairs is 1 queen sized sofa bed romantically placed across from the woodstove. There is also 1 queen sized sofa bed in the back bedroom which was recently upgraded to a bedroom/entertainment room (complete with flat screen T.V. and extensive video library.) Finally, there is a full bath (toilet/shower) downstairs off the private bedroom. This is a perfect location for the kids, with the parents upstairs in their own private retreat. The open floor plan downstairs allows for comfort and togetherness. Overstuffed chairs flank the wood-burning stove, and perfect for curling up with a good book, while someone cooks the evening meal nearby. The cabin is fully stocked with everything from linens to spices. All of our supplies and toiletries are offered to our guests so they feel like this is their home away from home. The SpaceMost quiet during the spring thaw, when "The snow is melting into music." (John Muir) Wildflowers abounding in July and August, adding to the view for hiking and water sports. Glorious warm days and golden aspens in the Autumn. Winter brings the full California ski experience. Roads in the residential area are not plowed, so no cars are allowed to enter, and everything remains completely white. The snowmobile ride up from the village adds to the adventure! Road's end location is perfect for sledding. The two bedrooms, each with an adjoining full bath, are on the entry level. The master bedroom has a woodstove and panoramic views. It has a king-size bed and a twin. The smaller bedroom has a twin bed, and also a trundle bed which can be used as one or two twins. The whole second story is one large room, with a woodstove and windows all around. It has a half bath and futons for four. Guest AccessGuests have the whole house plus the cellar which is stocked with firewood. The very private second story deck has beautiful mountain and forest views. There is a hiking and cross-country skiing trail up to Bloods Point starting just to the right of my driveway. Interaction with GuestsI am always available by phone or internet if you have any questions or problems. I'm also happy to answer questions before you book. The NeighborhoodWhat makes my neighborhood special is there are more views than houses! Getting AroundMost times of the year there is parking in my driveway and on the street. The winter situation, after the roads close in the residential area, is quite different. Please inquire. There is no public transportation in Bear Valley Village (except the ski shuttle in winter!) Other Things to NoteFor entry in the snow: The highway up to Bear Valley (CA Hwy 4) doesn't reach higher elevations until about the last 20 minutes of the drive. It is kept well-cleared most of the time. Bear Valley is on the west side of the summit, so there are no scary cliffs to navigate! Please do check driving conditions and carry chains when advised.

The cabin is his wireless high speed internet access, so using your laptop or IPad anywhere in the cabin is a breeze. Additionally, there is a work area upstairs that includes guest access to a computer, fax/copy/scanner, and a cordless phone/answer machine. For entertainment you'll find a 40' flat screen TV and DVD player downstairs, as well as an wireless iPod amplifier in the living room to enjoy your favorite music. OUTSIDE: The front and back decks and the lounge chairs provide privacy, serenity, bird watching, reading, barbecuing, sunbathing or doing absolutely nothing. There's even a rock fire pit off the back deck for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs under a star-filled summer sky. The meadow areas surrounding the cabin are perfect for throwing a ball for your furry friend.
