The Reedy Creek that flows through the Woolshed Valley to Eldorado, was the source of mining that built the Eldorado Village supporting a century of shaft, sluice and dredge mining. The Woolshed Valley itself contains some of the most picturesque country in Victoria, and anglers can enjoy seeking the wild trout which inhabit the upper reaches of the Reedy Creek, or gold panning and looking for gem stones. Today, Eldorado remains an extremely interesting, beatiful and tranquil spot, a must to visit. The SpaceThe cottage is an original 1800s, modestly restored miner’s cottage in the middle of its transformation. The cottage is situated in the heart of Eldorado, it was used as a baker's store, so it has a shop front style veranda. There are two queen size bedrooms with soft comfy mattresses, includes all linen. There is a single bed in the small sitting room, which is a walk-through spare room, not really private- think of it as a permanent spare bed. Please view photos and read description to aid in telling the story. There are two sitting/lounge rooms, one with an open fire. The cottage has one bathroom (with bathtub) and separate shower. There are two toilets, one in the bathroom and one in the laundry. A modern kitchen which features a non-operating wood-fired stove. Enjoy log fires in the winter, air-conditioning in the summer and lazy days on the verandah. The property is also home to an original early 1900’s brick Bakery complete with its still-in-working-order Scotch Oven. You are most welcome to head on in to view the oven through the back gate. There are walks along the creek within minutes from home: see native wildlife; enjoy a stroll across the Swing Bridge; visit the Gold Dredge and the Eldorado Museum. Walk up Monument Hill. Bring your bike and ride the Rail Trails to Beechworth, Bright or Wangaratta. Enjoy the peace and tranquility as well as our small community’s country hospitality. The Tavern is a short walk of about 300 ms. Closest large town Wangaratta central, 25 mins by car; closest Rail Trail Station 5 mins by car; closest Winery 15 mins by car. I am happy, when possible, to pick you up from either the train station or Albury or Wangaratta airport if you are coming without a car. Find out how to pan for gold in the creek just like the prospectors have done for over 100 years at the El Dorado Museum. Check out the Pottery just down the lane to see a third generation potters work. Guest AccessPlease park on Main Street, just outside the picket fence. The small gate under the hedge is the entrance to the correct doorway. There are five doors to the cottage. Only this one with the bell on the lattice will be opened ready for your arrival. The key will be left for you on the bench. You may leave the key on the bench without locking up when you leave. Guests are welcome to use the laundry facilities and second toilet, however this is a shared space. Phone and mobile reception is limited, however if you have a Telstra phone you may be able to pick up messages and take calls in certain spots, please ask about reception before booking. It is incredibly helpful to give me a realistic time of arrival and to update me with any changes along the way, thank you. Interaction with GuestsIf I am home, I am happy to greet and converse with my guests and they are welcome to seek out my company for all the news and local knowledge about the region. However, I am equally happy if hibernation is the aim of the stay, I totally get the need for space. Guests have complete privacy in separate accommodation accept for the laundry, which is on the very rear of the cottage, which I use rarely while guests stay. There is a privacy lock on the inside laundry door for your convenience. There is a printed guide on the buffet as to a few good places to eat while you stay and how long it will take to drive. The NeighborhoodMy neighbours are easy going and friendly. Eldorado is a village that reminds you of how things used to be, before convenience stores, open all hours trade and endless distractions and hype were the norm. It is a place where you can forget the time, allow conversation and wine to flow, enjoy long walks, reading, painting, drawing, photography and lazing in the sun or beside the open fire, to fill the void. Getting AroundThere are trains from Sydney and Melbourne, I am happy to make arrangements to pick guests up from the station to stay, however once out in Eldorado, you will either need a bike or a hire car, feel free to ask about what you need, I am very happy to help. Other Things to NotePhone and mobile reception is limited, however if you have a Telstra phone you may be able to pick up messages and take calls in certain spots, please ask about reception before booking. I have found that most people love to switch out during their stay and pick up messages when they go on their discovery adventures to Beechworth and surrounds. I also am happy for urgent calls and emails etc to be done with my phone and internet if I'm home.

The SpaceThis accommodation would suit couples or single women and is cosy [according to my son] and is a short stroll from the town centre. The room is bright and airy and you will be likely to awaken to birdsong rather than traffic. Guest AccessThe guests will have access to the kitchen to prepare their own food and I provide tea and coffee. I also have a separate bedroom with two single beds if you would like to bring one or two children for a small extra charge. I would need to be notified at least 3 days in advance so I can make the two alternative rooms available. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to chat with guests if they wish information but they are also free to keep to themselves. The NeighborhoodBeechworth is a beautiful historic town which often has events and is well situated for outdoor activities as well as tourist facilities. My home is tucked away from the "madding crowds" and very peaceful though convenient to town. Getting AroundVLine offer a coach/train service from Melbourne several times a day and there is a train from Sydney also and buses from Albury to Beechworth. Once here most places are accessible on foot or you could hire a bike and cruise the rail trails. Other Things to NoteI have several options for rooms depending on how many there are. Couples and singles have their own bedroom with ensuite but if you would like to bring one or two children I can make two rooms available for a small extra charge. You would then have your own bathroom.

This charming bush cabin was originally constructed in the 1860s by a timber feller on the outskirts of Melbourne. The building was dismantled and painstakingly reassembled in Beechworth between 2004 and 2007. It has been carefully restored to its former glory and has retained the atmosphere of a simple 19th-century settlers' hut, without skimping on 21st-century luxuries. 1860 Luxury Accommodation is full of character; the decor is simple yet elegant and every effort has been made to provide everything you could possibly need for a stylish self-catering stay. With an open fire, double bath, leather lounge, king sized bed and full kitchen, 1860 overlooks Spring Creek and the surrounding parklands of Lake Sambell. To see more detail about 1860, its history, media reviews & things to do in Beechworth go to our website by searching for 1860 Luxury Accommodation. In 2011, 1860 won the Shire of Indigo Award for the most environmentally sustainable business. It was rebuilt using traditional methods to maintain the integrity and historic value of the building. Virtually all the materials used in the construction of the building have been salvaged, recycled or converted from another use. For example, the coffee table is a converted set of Blacksmith bellows and a real feature of the living room. 1860 is a five minute stroll into the historic goldrush town of Beechworth with renowned restaurants, great coffee shops & cafes, shopping and boutique wines. To explore beautiful landscapes and gold rush architecture, the rail trail cycling path is at your door and the perfect way to discover the charms of Beechworth. We offer single night stays Monday to Thursday only. Cancellation & Refunds If cancelled 0 - 7 days before arrival, 100% of the total amount will be forfeited. If cancelled 8 to 14 days before arrival, 50% of the total amount will be forfeited. If cancelled 15 or more days before arrival, your deposit will be refunded in full. 1860 is 500 metres from the town centre of Beechworth and overlooks the parklands of Lake Sambell. It is very private, on half and acre and next to the gorgeous Spring Creek. Beechworth is located in north east Victoria, an hour from the Victorian alps, ski fields and the the beautiful Mt Buffalo.

The SpaceLocated near the centre of historic Beechworth, Mulberry cottage has been a popular accommodation destination for many years. Enjoy being located just a short stroll from the town centre, but also being able park off street and escape into a quiet and comfortable, fully self contained house with its own secluded garden and direct access to the shady banks of Spring Creek. With 3 bedrooms, indoor and outdoor dining areas, covered deck, a lounge and sitting room, spacious bathroom and well appointed kitchen, Mulberry cottage offers perfect family getaway accommodation. Across the three bedrooms, the house sleeps up to four adults and two children comfortably in the two queen size beds and two single beds. Each bedroom and the bathroom contain heaters and the central open plan lounge / dining area has a reverse cycle air conditioner to ensure your comfort. The kitchen boasts a large refrigerator / freezer, electric oven and stove-top, a microwave oven, electric frypan, kettle, toaster and all of the utensils and crockery required to store, prepare and serve your own meals. As the accommodation is fully self contained, you have complete privacy during your stay. For stays longer than 5 nights, a full house clean with linen/towel change is provided after the third night and optional mini services providing a linen / towel change and kitchen / bathroom clean can be provided by arrangement for $60. From Mulberry cottage you can easily walk to any of Beechworth's pubs, restaurants, shops and central attractions. Guest AccessYou have access to the entire property, including gardens, with the exception of the bedrooms that you did not book and several small areas of the garden, garden sheds and the under house area, where entry is not permitted for safety reasons. These areas are clearly signed as ‘No Guest Access”. Additional charges may apply if you use bedrooms other than those you have booked. There is also access to off street parking for one car. You can gain access to Spring Creek via the gate at the rear of the garden. This gate has a pool gate style lock to restrict access of children to the creek. While the creek is usually shallow, it can increase significantly in flow after rain and the water can be very cold, even in summer months. We strongly recommend supervision of children at all times when in the garden and especially by the creek. Interaction with GuestsFor short stays (less than 3 nights), you will have complete private use of the premises and the house will not be serviced during your stay unless by arrangement. If your stay is longer than 5 nights, the house will be cleaned, fresh towels provided and linen changed after the 5th night. Our cleaner will arrive between 10:00am and 11:00am on the morning after the 5th night to change bed linen and clean the house. A mini service consisting of a linen / towel change and clean of the bathroom and kitchen can be ordered at any time for a cost of $60.00.

The SpaceYou are invited to share our home we now have a bedroom no longer in use. We, ourselves have enjoyed lovely (and affordable) airbnb accommodation and experiences in our travels and would love to extend this to others. Eldorado is an lovely old gold mining town, nestled at the base of a cresent of hills on Reedy Creek. We are close to the North-east Gourmet Region of Milawa and Oxley and MANY wineries of high regard. Beechworth is only 20 min away as is Wangaratta's 'Jazz Festival' in November. The Victorian snow fields are a scenic, 1 hour away. There are some lovely bush walks, birdwatching opportunities and interesting landmarks around the area...which include the last remaining (disused) gold dredge in the Southern Hemisphere. In our home, apart from your bedroom, all living spaces are shared. You are more than welcome to cook for yourselves the kitchen..... bearing in mind we are a vegetarian couple and meat is not welcome in our home. " Victoria's Smallest Tavern", the MacEvoy Tavern is only a 5 minute walk down the road where you can purchase an excellent meal Wednesday to Sunday. Our only other retail is a General Store and fuel pump. No public transport is available to and from Eldorado but we will try and accommodate your needs as far as possible, if you are without personal transport. Please feel free to inquire as to whether we can assist. Guest AccessGuests are free to access all areas of our home other than our bedroom..obviously! Interaction with GuestsWe will do our best to optimise your time in the area...if only with information....but where possible and agreed too, we would hope to be available on occasion to do more. The NeighborhoodHome of the only surviving Gold Dredge in Southern Hemisphere Still a gold panning location Home of Victorias smallest tavern 20 minutes to Northeast Victoria's Gourmet Region. 20 minutes to MANY wineries (Brown Bros., Morris's etc.) 20 minutes to Beechworth. 1 hour to Snow fields 20 minutes to Wangaratta's Jazz Festival in November Getting AroundNo public transport to and from Eldorado. (We MAY be able to pick up from Wangaratta station with prior notice) Other Things to NoteWe are a middle aged couple who enjoy an occasional 'drink'. We do, however, enjoy 'the quiet life' and expect that guests respect this by keeping noise to a minimum. Please also note that we may not recommend our home to guests who are sensitive to dust. Whilst we try to keep our home clean, due to its age and inability to 'seal', its occasional wood fires and its proximity to a dirt road we cannot guarantee a dust free space.
