The SpaceForget the South or West coast! Too crowded, too hot, very noisy, dogs barking all night long, eroding beaches and way too expensive tourist trap. This spacious and clean house is located on the south east part of the island known for its cooling, Atlantic breeze. It's walking distance to the 7 most beautiful, uncrowded beaches. With its rugged, beautiful scenery the quiet and friendly Belair neighborhood is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the south and west coasts. The apartment is on the ground floor of the brand new house. It has a private entrance from the garden, includes a living room, fully equipped kitchen and full bathroom as well as a luxurious outdoor shower with rain shower head. LOCATION: The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach. However the best beaches are 15-20 minutes away or 5-10 minutes by car. They include: - Bottom Bay Beach (our favorite!) - Crane Beach (very popular 5 star hotel, with great views) - Ginger Bay Beach - Sam Lords Castle Beach - Plus a few more secret beaches, which we're happy to share with you! 15 minute drive to the airport 20 minutes to Oistins Fish Market or the night life area: St. Lawrence Gap ACT LIKE A LOCAL: We have been coming to Barbados to many years now and are familiar with the best beaches and sight seeing. We have a map upon request, which highlights the best places to see. There is a small "Belair Variety Store" that has the basic groceries. Large and very well equipped Emerald City Supermarket is at Six Roads, 10 min away. Guest AccessAccess to a wash machine, 3 boogie boards, 2 sets of professional snorkeling gear, 2 bikes, 2 yoga matts, Bose SoundTouch mp3 player, beach chairs, sun tent, fast & reliable internet, outdoor brick grill, outdoor hot & cold totally private shower, hair dryer, safety deposit box, portable AC (rarely needed) for additional $20.-/night, ceiling fan in bedroom. Interaction with GuestsIf I am not on the island my house manager is only a phone call away. She will give you the keys and show you the house. She lives in the neighborhood. The NeighborhoodThe location is unique because it is away from the touristy areas of Barbados. You'll find stunning beaches that have very few visitors but plenty of fresh coconuts to eat and drink. :) No need for AC. With the cooling atlantic breeze you may not even turn the ceiling fan on. This breeze also keeps mosquitos away. There are insect screens in all the windows anyway. If you, however, still need AC, I have one portable unit I can give you for US $20.-/night. Getting AroundThe best way to move around is to rent a car. However, if you do not dare to drive on the left, there is a bus stop only 2 min away. Bikes are good only to reach the nearby beaches. Other Things to NoteMy favorite beaches:  Shark Hole (no sharks there, I promise), Ginger Bay, Bottom Bay and Crane are all in the walking distance, Crane beach is the best for boogie boarding (feel free to use mine) Miami & Dover Beach are on the south. The calmest sea, suitable for kids & elderly is on Carib (right next to St. Lawrence Gap) and Brownes beach (just before Bridgetown). West coast beaches are are more narrow (eroding) and also much more touristy. I highly recommend a day trip to Batsheba, Martin's Bay on the East coast. Animal Flower Cave and Little Bay on the north side of the island. Its absolutely beautiful. The sea is very rough there, but you can still take a swim at the small pools inside the cave and on the little beach protected by the reefs at Little Bay, so wear bathing suit everywhere. Leave early in the morning. It may take more then an hour when you hit the traffic. Bring your camera. If you like gardens, the Hunte's Garden is an absolute MUST: (URL HIDDEN) Bridgetown is not very nice city, except of the Waterfront cafe, there is really nothing pretty to look at. I would certainly avoid it at night, not safe, watch for your belongings! What I can recommend is a Catamaran cruise and the Mount Gay rum factory.

The SpaceBest vacation rental ever 5 out of 5 We travel extensively around the world - all parts of Canada, countries in Europe, all over South America, Hawaii, etc. - and this is by far the best vacation rental we have ever had. We have stayed here twice, once with our 3 children in 2008 (ages 8, 10 and 16) and then again by ourselves in 2013. The owner is fantastic, and takes impeccable care of her property. The location is sublime, and it is exceptionally well furnished. There is a balcony off 2 of the 3 bedrooms and the water welcomes you in the morning and lulls you to sleep at night. Highlights: Well-stocked kitchen, a living and dining room that feels like home, views of the water, serenity of the environment, fresh fruit and vegetable stands down the road, satellite TV, spacious and well appointed bathrooms, OUTSTANDING linens -- plush towels and high quality bedding, including the mattress. There's air conditioning if you want it, but we found that with the breeze from the water, we didn't need it. The owner has truly thought of everything. You will want for nothing while here. The grocery store is a short drive, and the Crane's beach provides for swimming at a small cost. That we have visited so many places and yet have returned here twice says a lot because we typically like to see the world. When we want to connect with each other as a family or as spouses and want to do so away from home, we will surely reach out to the owner. It has become our go to spot for recharging. Book now; you will not be disappointed. Review Submitted: 09-Apr-2014 Date of Stay: Jul 2013 john t. Great Vacation in Paradise 5 out of 5 Great Deal. Safe. Spotless. Comfortable. Oceanfront. Awesome views. Wireless Internet. Everything we were looking for. We went on vacation with another couple and stayed at this property and really enjoyed ourselves. Both of our bedrooms exited out to a balcony overlooking the ocean that was furnished with cushioned lounges and small breakfast tables and chairs. Right on the ocean. Spent most days going different places on island, shopping, tourist sites. Great home to return to each day. Enjoyed our own little "happy hour" at the beach below the villa watching the sunset. Just had a great time. We also spent time at the Crane Resort which is nearby and loved their beach and had lunch there a couple of times. We can tell you we are thrilled we found this property to rent and enjoyed our stay. Our thanks to the owner. She was most helpful and informative throughout the process of booking and her referrals and recommendations were appreciated; from the car rental, to restaurants to just some great tips on visiting Barbados. We look forward to our return. So many properties to choose from and we found and chose this one. Villa was spotless, nice open layout and comfortable with such spectacular views. Must comment on the good mattresses and nice linens. Appreciated. We have traveled the Carib enough to know the difference. Great beaches, spectacular ocean views, sunrises, sunsets, night sky filled with a thousand stars. The stars were so close to us as we lounged evenings on the upper deck. It felt like you could reach out and touch them. We loved the oceanfront upper deck off the bedrooms. We enjoyed our privacy on both of the beaches within steps of villa. We also spent late afternoons enjoying the covered oceanfront verandah, relaxing, reading our books, yes working on our I pads and enjoying a few "Happy Hour" cocktails. This beautiful tropical breeze we found so soothing. When we were choosing properties we didn't even factor in an upper deck and verandah and both were such a bonus. The villa sits right on the edge of the ocean. Such great value for the reasonable rate we paid. Perfect location. We rented a car upon the owners recommendation and glad we did. We went to grocery store, fish market, visited some duty free shops and explored the island. The natives were very nice and always helpful. Catamaran and snorkle trip was a fun day. Crane Resort was very close and we ran over there several times to dine at their restaurants and also enjoyed their beach one day. We loved the privacy of this villa. It was cozy and comfortable. It was very romantic and really afforded us the chance to connect again from our busy lives we lead. The sounds of silence. Rejuvenating. Several days we had plans to do tourist things and just found we were so enjoying the villa we changed our plans and spent the days at the villa. That's a good thing on a vacation when you are so relaxed and comfortable and don't feel like you have to go running around. We had the beach steps below the villa surrounded by the cliffs where you will find true solitude. Awesome. We had a great trip and really enjoyed our stay at this property and am wishing right now we were still there. Review Submitted: 18-Apr-2011 Date of Stay: Apr 2011 Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway "Lovebirds" Maryland, USA Our Stay at Paradise Found 5 out of 5 We enjoyed our vacation at this ocean front villa and so pleased with our choice. It was clean, comfortable, safe and well maintained. The beds and linens were so comfortable, which is a real treat in the Caribbean. We have been to many of the islands in the Caribbean and always rent a private home. This was definitely one of our favorite homes we have rented and Barbados is one of our favorite islands. The villa and location were just perfect. We were close enough to the grocery stores, shops, restaurants and action if we wanted to go out but far away enough that it didn't interfere with our peaceful and quiet stay. I booked the villa on the "Lovebirds Special" that the owner was offering. What a great deal! Such value for our dollars spent. We would have been hard pressed to find an ocean front hotel room for the price we paid for an entire ocean front villa. Plenty of room. We had our choice of gorgeous beaches to choose from. We sunned at the beach below the villa. We swam at the beach at the end of the cliff, Both of these beaches we enjoyed to ourselves the days we were there. We also spent a nice day at the Crane Resort beach and had lunch and cocktails. All the beaches special and memorable in their own way. We had to keep in touch due to our work and loved working on our computer from the dining area looking out to the sea and sky. It brought a new pleasure to work. The ocean and sky surround you. You definitely feel at one with mother nature. I especially enjoyed the morning sun and my coffee on the upper deck right off the bedrooms. To stand on that balcony and look at the endless sky and sea and cliffs. Words can't express. Such a great way to start the day. And that would be how many of our evenings were spent just enjoying the tropical breezes and the sound of the waves and lounging under the stars with a good glass of wine before calling it a day. So relaxing. Slept great. Came home feeling rested not worn out. The owner was so helpful and informative from the time we inquired about booking the villa. She always responded promptly to our emails and answered our questions thoroughly. Such a pleasure to deal with and had good advice even for seasoned travelers. We really enoyed our stay. It all just went too fast. We are already talking about returning next year. Review Submitted: 13-Apr-2011 Date of Stay: Feb 2011 Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway Dick and Sue Okemos Michigan USA Outstanding Secluded Oceanfront Villa 5 out of 5 This is a fantastic rental – the perfect place to just kick back and enjoy paradise! The Villa sits right on the ocean, with the surf crashing a few steps below your porch and a deserted sand beach nestled between the cliffs at the edge of the property. The ocean is a constant presence in the Villa, and it creates a totally relaxing experience. There are a few friendly locals who come by to fish off the cliff, but essentially you have the beach and the ocean to yourself. The ground floor porch in the Villa is covered and shady, while the upper balcony is open for tanning, star gazing, and wonderful alfresco dining to the delightful sounds of the sea! The Villa is well furnished and spacious enough that you don’t feel crowded, and the TV and Internet connections allow you to enjoy the comforts of home away from home. There is no air conditioning, but amazingly enough it just isn’t needed! The trade breezes and ceiling fans kept the house cool in 85° heat, and there were no bugs either. A rental car is needed if you venture out and tour the island, but we stayed home many days and just soaked up life at the Villa. Upscale dining is available a few blocks away at the famous Crane resort, and there is a nice deli (Cutter’s) close by with great take out (be sure to try their special sauce). The grocery store is about 5 minutes away, and we ate in the Villa most nights – the ambiance from our balcony surpassed that of the fancy restaurants who boasted about their “fabulous seaside dining” experience! The owner attended to our every need and referred us to a rental car company with the most courteous and helpful staff. The on-site caretaker and the maid were wonderful and inconspicuous, while still making sure the place was clean and that we were enjoying our vacation. The only “drawback” to this place is that it is situated away from the hustle and bustle of night life and tourist attractions that are located on the south and west side of Barbados. But that also means that you have undisturbed tranquility and peace from an absolutely idyllic setting. We have vacationed in Hawaii for many years, and did not really expect this to be as nice as the Kauai beach house we usually rented. But it more than exceeded our expectations and we are already planning our return next year. Belair Great House is an impeccably restored plantation-style house that was built over hundred years ago and which has been a Barbadian family home owned by the same family for the past twenty years. The house is set on over two acres of beautiful lawns and gardens with almost 300 feet of ocean frontage. The entire property is enclosed and has an electronic entrance gate and a small gate to the sea front. It is extremely private and offers a peaceful setting that invites you to relax on its grand verandahs and admire its glorious island vistas and dramatic ocean views. While the property provides all the modern facilities which are required by discerning vacationers, the old world character of Belair Great House has been carefully preserved. Belair Great House has five bedrooms and sleeps up to ten people. The lower floor consists of a formal dining room, large kitchen, one bedroom, and one bathroom and a wrap-around verandah with patio furniture for relaxing in the breeze overlooking the sea, pool or tennis court. The dining room is a definite reminder of those regal days with a wonderful antique mahogany dining table that seats twelve, mahogany antique sideboards, and a crystal chandelier. With high ceilings and glass panel doors that open out to the lawns facing the ocean and tennis court, the dining room catches the ocean breezes and is a magnificent setting for either formal or more relaxed meals enjoyed by large families or groups of friends. The well equipped kitchen with granite countertops opens out onto the ocean front verandah, which is only a short distance from the sparkling freshwater swimming pool. The bedroom on this floor faces the ocean and has two single beds. Adjacent to the downstairs bedroom, there is a full bathroom with a shower. The upper floor has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the back verandah is the living space with push-out shutters and a French door leading out to the covered upstairs wrap-around verandah. This verandah also has a bar, an informal dining area that seats eight, and a fully-equipped kitchen, which makes it unnecessary to even go down the stairs to the main kitchen. The bedrooms all look out over the pool and ocean. The master bedroom, with a king-size bed, has an en-suite bathroom, which adjoins a small bedroom with two single beds. The other two bedrooms on this floor have a king and a full sized bed respectively and share the second bathroom. The cottage features a full-size antique billiards table and tastefully designed bar with a wine cooler, small fridge and microwave below. The billiards room has double French doors opening out to the lawns, allowing the room to catch the fresh breeze blowing in off the ocean. There is one double bedroom downstairs and two double bedrooms upstairs that open on to covered balconies that overlook the ocean. All three bedrooms have air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Upstairs there is a sitting area with cable TV and a large flat-screen Apple computer in an alcove with internet access. There is original artwork hanging in the coach house and the bedrooms have been furnished to a high standard. The coach house which sleeps six is only available for rent along with Belair Great House. Belair Great House is situated on the southeast coast of Barbados – a prime location for those interested in surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing or SUP with the best spots being no more than a 20-minute drive away and lessons can certainly be arranged if necessary. Alternatively, the tennis court, swimming pool and breezy dining areas offer enough for those simply looking to relax on the property itself. Less than a 10-minute drive away is the Crane Hotel where travelers may indulge in an afternoon at the spa or an evening at Zen, a Japanese and Thai restaurant dramatically perched on the cliff-top and boasting spectacular ocean views. This is a tastefully decorated sitting area where guests may relax and watch television or just sit and chat. The verandah overlooking the ocean on the upper level is ideal for enjoying the splendid view of the pool, tennis court, expansive lawns and gardens, and ocean - a perfect setting for sipping cocktails and enjoying the moonlight in the evenings. There is comfortable teak and wicker outdoor furniture on this verandah. The pool deck is slightly raised and gated making Belair Great House child friendly. There are chaise longues and Adironack chairs around the pool and a covered gazebo where guests may have lunch or dinner at the large round table which seats ten and overlooks the pool which can be lighted at night. There is also a brick barbeque grill on the deck for easy outdoor cooking and a gas barbeque is also available. Belair has its own tennis court and tennis lessons with a pro can usually be organized at a reasonable extra cost. Many of Barbados' finest beaches are within a five-minute drive of the property and Dawlish Beach and Falmouth Beach are within easy walking distance. The laundry has both washer and dryer. Daily maid service is provided, and for those guests who would prefer to try the local cuisine in the comfort of their villa, arrangements can be made for a cook. Belair Coach House If more accommodation is required the old coach house which is less than 100 yards from Belair Great House within the fenced property has been tastefully converted into a three bedroom cottage. The coach house has been finished with hardwood floors, travertine tiles, granite counter tops, and coral stone rendering and ruble stone walls, which preserve the old world character of the property. The Coach House with 3 additional bedrooms is available for the following additional charges: Summer (from 15th April to 14th December) - US$2,187.50/week Winter (from 15th December to 14th April) - US$3,150.00/week Christmas (from 22nd December to 5th January) - US$4,375.00/week Please note that the Coach House is not available for rental on its own and these rates are also subject to 10% service charge and 7.5% VAT.
