Ocala's reputation as a horse-breeding and training center attracts many horse lovers. Carriage and tours are offered, these leisurely tours last about an hour and take guest to some of the county's most prominent farms. Ocala's old town dates back to the 19th century, with a town square and park.
Famous for it's natural beauty, Silver Springs are the area's most productive freshwater springs and feed into the Silver River with sparkling clear water and glass bottom boat rides. Ocala National Park is the busiest of Florida's three national forests, it stretches out across more than 383,000 acres, most of which lie in Marion County. The forest is quiet and secluded and it's main attractions are it's many lakes, springs and ponds, which call out to anglers, canoeists, snorkelers, boaters and swimmers. Plenty of trails also please hikers and bikers. and great wildlife.
After the serenity of Ocala Forest and the horse farms head to this speedway for an engine revving experience. Friday night events are especially family friendly.

The Discovery Center now occupies the "former" Tuscawilla Youth Center (Armory) building in downtown Tuscawilla Park. It teaches young people about the world around them, especially as it relates to scientific endeavor. The elegant Appleton Museum of Art was created in 1987 and houses the collection of Chicago businessman Arthur Appleton. The museum has now expanded to 34,000 square feet and features both ancient and contemporary art.
