The SpaceThis is a lovely secluded mountain property in a tranquil, wildland setting. We frequently see deer, squirrels, and countless types of birds such as Steller's Jays, black-capped chickadees, nuthatches, flickers, owls, hawks, finches, and woodpeckers. Black bears, mountain lions, and bobcats also frequent the area. We think that you will love this special part of Colorado, that is off the beaten path but still quite accessible and "close to civilization." Guest AccessWhole house except basement Our property extends to Davis Ranch Road and includes the meadow in front of the house and the hill behind the house. There is no public land access on Davis Ranch Road - it is all privately owned. Interaction with GuestsWe do not live on site but do live nearby in Fort Collins and are available if you have questions about the area. I will likely be able to welcome you to the house when you arrive but if I am not available will leave clear instructions for access and other information you will need. The NeighborhoodThis is a low-density mountain community - there are homes around but nearby properties are at least 6 acres in size, so there is a lot of privacy. Getting AroundYou will need a car to access this property. You will need a 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle to access this property when there is snow. Keep in mind that snow is not uncommon in this area through the end of May. You will be able to easily access without 4 or all wheel drive when there is no snow on the ground. There is garage space available for 2 cars. Parking in the garage is advisable due to curious bears. :-) Other Things to NoteKeep in mind that it is about a 15 minute drive down Rist Canyon Road to get to the nearest (small) grocery store for supplies so plan ahead! We do have internet access but it is satellite internet ( only option available in this area). As such we have limited downloads and so do not allow streaming video access because it would quickly use up the monthly allotment! Also, streaming video just does not work well there anyway unless you like seeing the word "buffering..." :-)

It has world-class bird watching and you can often see eagles and hawks flying over Lake Watson and sometimes soaring right above the deck as well as hundreds of other species that either migrate through or nest in the trees on the property. The Cache la Poudre River Canyon is truly a hidden treasure, with majestic cliffs and intriguing rock formations enveloped in ponderosa and lodge pole pines and aspen. It is famous for it’s river rafting, back country skiing, hiking trails with spectacular views of The Rocky Mountains, canyons and river valley meadows, fishing, designated wild life viewing areas for unique animals like big horn sheep / rams and is also a great place to simply take an incredibly scenic drive and stop for lunch or dinner at a restaurant if you are only here for a short while.
