Getting AroundThis is the best of both worlds with equal access to the Upper Connecticut River Valley and the White Mountains. Kayak the Connecticut River in the morning and climb a White Mountain peak in the afternoon. There are several decent restaurants and one excellent restaurant within a half hour's drive. The SpaceStarry nights, relaxing or adventure-filled days. For your pleasure Cobble Hill Cabin features indoor and outdoor fireplaces (I provide all the wood and kindling), a spacious covered deck with large hot tub and commanding views of N & S Kinsman and Mt Moosilauke. Ideal for your romantic get-a-way. A fully equipped kitchen should satisfy the most discerning chef. A myriad of spices and condiments are provided. When in season and time permitting, I may provide fresh picked herbs, greens, vegetables, and farm fresh eggs. Guest AccessMagical. Timeless. Dreamy. After settling in, please enjoy the mountain and road bicycles and kayaks. Guests will need to have means to transport the kayaks. I have kayak straps, life vests and bike helmets. In that same spirit, firewood and kindling are provided for you too. Interaction with GuestsAlthough I will be there if and when you need me, I respect your privacy and time. Please call or email me at any time if you need assistance or information with anything. The NeighborhoodSecluded. Located at the end of a class 6 road, no light pollution will diminish the brilliant starry sky at night. Wake from a restful sleep to the sound of song birds, peepers and crickets. Or in winter.....complete silence. Owl, moose, black bear or deer may drop by for a visit as will a rabbit or two. In summer, a pair of hummingbirds will entertain you on the deck, while a frog lazily cools off in the rain barrel. Getting AroundYou will definitely need a vehicle. A 4x4 or AWD vehicle is recommended (if not a must) for the snowy months. Bus companies service Franconia and Hanover, NH, yet there is no public transportation from there to here. Please do not rely on your GPS or computer maps to navigate on the "back" roads around here. Many roads appear to be good "through" roads, when in reality they are dead ends or "jeep" roads that can be rocky, rutty, swampy : in-passable. AAA will not rescue you on these roads! And there may not be cell service!! For instance, Brill Road is a dead end road, terminating at a private residence. GPS and computer maps show it as a through road. Other Things to NoteSome cell phones will work here. US cell works form the deck. I sometimes can text with Verizon, but I have a cheap phone. The nearest Verizon coverage is found by traveling on Rt 116 west 2.5 miles. Park at Junction of Tunnel Stream Road just before Coventry Garage (great folks if you need automobile work). I do have an internet phone ("Ooma" brand) though. You may use this to call anywhere in the USA for free! Feel free to use it!

The SpaceWaterside Cabin provides a captivating perch from which a couple can enjoy nature without needing to travel anywhere else. Half-on land and half-over the water, you may feel like you're on a boat or living in a boathouse. You may spot loons, eagles, a variety of other birds, beavers, and fish jumping from the water. We've seen deer and have had moose cross the property twice over the last few years as well. Our most attractive features are views of the water from practically anywhere in the cabin and from the waterside deck. It is a spectacular place to relax and take in the natural setting. Stocked with trout each season, our lake has bass, brown trout, rainbow trout and perch. Eat what you catch or catch and release and yes, it is possible to catch fish from the waterside deck! The property has an upper and lower level. From the lane off of the main road you'll arrive at the upper area. This area provides parking for up to two cars, the bonfire pit, picnic table and a couple of owner's outbuildings. The Waterside Cabin is down 16 steps on a relatively steep stepped slope to a deck and then down a flight of stairs to the lower area and waterfront. A grill is available for your use off of the deck down on the grass along the waterfront. Please grill away from the house or any of the decks. While mesmerizing to many, Waterside Cabin may not be comfortable for all. Access down to the lower area could pose a challenge depending on your mobility or physical condition. Please keep this in mind when considering a stay at Waterside Cabin. Fresh drinking water must be brought onsite to Waterside Cabin. We provide three gallon containers of drinking water from the supermarket to get you started. Do NOT drink any water from any of the faucets or shower. Waterside Cabin is equipped with a kitchen and bathroom with shower including a flush toilet and a proper septic system which all use water pumped from the lake. Yes - we have hot water! There is much to do in the area. We have prepared a folder of activities and maps for you and have more information in our Guest Guide. Guest AccessGuests have access to the Waterside Cabin and it's lower and upper areas. The larger storage outbuildings is owner-access only. Inside the smaller building at the top of the hill is where you will find covered recycling and trash bins. Please be kind to nature and your hosts. Guests have access to the waterfront area at their own risk. If you would like to provide a written acceptance of all risk and liability, you can also have access to the canoe. We have paddles, two adult life jackets and a life preserver available. The canoe gives you better access to see more nature up close. Interaction with GuestsWe have limited interactions with our guests. Our guests interact primarily with our friend and partner Nancy who is your local contact and host. We are all available by phone if you should need anything. The NeighborhoodThis lake provides a surprising amount of privacy and is quite peaceful, which attracts so much wildlife. Part of this sense of privacy is because there are no other houses at the water's edge like Waterside Cabin. Most of the lakeside houses are vacation homes like Waterside Cabin, however we do have some year round neighbors. At Waterside Cabin you may also get to experience loons, eagles and other birds, flying squirrels, beavers, turtles, deer, moose, and other animals. This part of New Hampshire is called the White Mountains Region, home to wonderful hiking trails for all levels and attractions including covered bridges, The Flume, The Basin, Cannon Mountain Tram, White Mountains National Forest, Franconia Notch and other NH state parks. For a refreshing time, try swimming up the road at "The Big Eddy" a beautiful swimming spot in view of an old covered bridge over the Wild Ammonoosuc River. You are a short drive to general stores in Bath including the "Swiftwater Way Station" and "The Brick Store" which claims to be the oldest continually operating general store in the USA), an ice-cream parlor, the supermarket and other supplies in Woodsville which also has a fun bowling alley, bar/restaurant, a great Chinese restaurant, a breakfast restaurant, an "over the top" ice cream stand and other recommended restaurants. In North Haverhill, there is Aldrich's General Store. Aldrich's is known as a convenient store with very good meats and sandwiches. Over the mountain in North Woodstock, NH there's also a pretty good selection of restaurants. Getting AroundYou'll need a car around here. Other Things to NoteAs noted above, you need to bring fresh drinking water to Waterside Cabin. Waterside Cabin is somewhat "off the grid". We do have electricity, a propane stove, hot water, and a phone (local calling) however no internet access. There is no cell phone coverage at Waterside Cabin and cell phone coverage is spotty in this neighborhood due to the mountains depending on your carrier. Cell phone service is usually pretty good in town. While this may sound daunting to some, it's actually refreshing to tell everyone at work "sorry, I don't have access to email, texts, the web...I'm actually on vacation" : ) Fishing licenses and bait are available at the general store a few miles up the road and at many other locations.

This historic post and beam building was built in the 1800's and once was the Village Grange Hall. The stage where presentations were made still remains as a lovely entrance. In the 1970's, it became a thriving General Store. Now restored and refurnished with modern amenities, the building still retains an old world charm and laid back elegance. The right mix of antiques and new comfort, pamper your stay and keep your interest. You will find fresh luxury linens and an immaculate environment so you can relax and enjoy your stay. Situated across from one of three local covered bridges, the often crashing Wild Ammonoosuc River sings its' song, within earshot of your accommodations. Other times it sparkles and dances softly, inviting you to wade in its' cool clear water, admiring the lovely many colored stones. There's a public beach area and a fun waterfall over the large boulders, where you can lie and sun. This natural area is known as "The Big Eddy" and has been rated one of New England's top 10 swimming holes. We also offer 120 acres of pristine land to hike, picnic and explore. It's quite likely you'll view various wild life; as moose, deer, fox, bear, grouse, wild turkey and many other birds abound. There are other sites to visit nearby; Loon Mountain, with its Scottish Highland Games in September, and various summer events; Franconia Notch, one of the most beautiful areas in the North Country with its majestic mountain views and glorious foliage, resembling moulton lava in the fall. Spring and summer bring their own unique beauty, flowering trees and wildflowers at every step. Grass the color of Ireland, without leaving the country! There are many other sites to enjoy within a short distance, charming neighboring villages, dairy and farm stands, and plenty of places to entertain children as well. A 20 minute drive on the Kancamancus Highway takes you across the mountain to North Woodstock with its outdoor dining at the Woodstock Inn and Brewery; and to Lincoln to see Clarks Trained Bears, Santa's Village, a waterslide, antique touring train rides, and further up the Kancamancus, take the auto road to the top of Mount Washington! We look forward to your visit! This building is located in a group of small historic villages that boast 3 Covered Bridges from the 1800's. The building was once the village Grange Hall and later a busy General Store. Now with it's charm still intact, it's been restored and remodeled to house all the modern amenities, so it's the perfect comfortable and peaceful home base to visit busy outlying areas. Loon Mountain, Clarks Trading Post with it's trained bears, a waterslide, Santa's Village, Woodstock Inn Brewery and al fresco restaurant, and local woodland golf courses, to name a few. There's a waterfall and natural swimming hole just across the street, and the 1849 Swiftwater Covered Bridge can be seen from your window. The Scottish Highland Games are held at Loon Mountain (20 minutes across the gorgeous mountain on the Kancamangus Highway, Route 112) in September. One can go to Scotland without leaving the country! Franconia Notch is a fire-y scenic wonder during the Fall foliage season, Mid-September through October. There are many summer activities as well, and our spacious area with three bedrooms gives plenty of room for family and friends. Guests are invited to use our 120 acres of pristine land that includes a 2 acre island in the river across the road, to hike, picnic and wild life view.
