The SpaceLovingly restored in 2002, our farmhouse provides all the updated necessities while maintaining charming details of the past. Our kitchen boasts a beautiful Pittston stove from 1900, and the attached barn provides a glimpse of when it was used to house hay for chickens and horses. Enjoy our porch while swinging on our porch swing, or find a spot on our property to sit and watch the sunset. There is a full-size bed in the downstairs bedroom, two twin beds upstairs, and a full-size bed in the master bedroom which is also upstairs. If two extra people should visit, our living room sofa opens up to a queen-size bed. Lots of windows provide a bright and sunny indoor experience. We enjoy getting cozy with a book or taking a long walk down the local country roads. Guest AccessWe provide a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer for your use. We have a TV with a DVD player, but no cable. While THERE IS NO WiFi available at the house, we never have issues with our Verizon service on our phones (though some people do have intermittent trouble with their service) and the lovely little town of Honesdale - a short drive away - boasts shops and restaurants and a library where WiFi can be used. We feel that what might be seen as a lack of technology in our house, actually provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of life. If going without WiFi is an issue for you, keep all this in mind. PLEASE NOTE: We provide towels (bath towels and hand towels) and pillows, linens, and blankets. We also provide dish towels and bath mats. Interaction with GuestsWe welcome constant communication so that we can be assured your stay is wonderful. The NeighborhoodThe Honesdale area is chock full of nothing to do...or lots to do, depending on your mood! In town, check out Main Street and visit Maude Alley for some great, small, local shopping. International Yoga has opened on Main Street, and there is a variety of other great shops. The Cooperage offers live music and a wonderful farmer's market filled with veggies, breads and other fare (open year 'round on Wednesdays). There is a farmer's market on Saturdays near town, and next to the Super Duper supermarket. If you venture further out, you can hike, boat, antique, and more. We are not far from Lake Wallenpaupack and Sullivan County in New York State, which is just across the Delaware River. Getting AroundThere is a bus that pulls right up to Honesdale, on Main Street, from Port Authority in New York City. Traveling by car is easy, too. We will provide directions, though any GPS will do. You can park on our driveway. Other Things to NoteWe are native New Yorkers who chose the Honesdale area as the perfect place to get away, and we love it. I am a theatre teacher and my husband, Scott, is a photographer. We have twins who enjoy our country retreat as much as we do. The Red House is no longer set up for babies, but the easy, flowing floor plan is very kid friendly. Or let them run around our 3 acres of open property. It's a child's paradise, in any season.

The SpaceYou will be renting the entire Main House - with private and locked entrances. While you will not have the entire property to yourself, you will hardly notice any other guests. Areas you do not have access to: There is an extended building structurally attached to the main home but with no access to the main home that has 2 additional single rooms and one suite - all with private entrances. There are two additional apartments in the back of the property (separate building) where my mother-in-law and a friend of 30+years live and the garage building which houses our corporate office (3 employees who are not there on the weekend). My wife and I operate Green Demolitions and Renovation Angel - the nation's only luxury kitchen recycling enterprise. There is plenty of parking and the grounds are beautiful. Please feel free to message with any questions. Other Things to NoteThere is a beautiful gazebo with a table and lots of seating as well as a propane grill.
