The SpaceMy house is one of the most energy efficient healthy places around. We are in the rolling Hills of Litchfield county surrounded by woods and nature. The house has hard wood floors and is daylight to the max. We strive to live lightly and we use only people friendly cleaning products, recycle and compost everything possible. Permaculture gardens abound. . We have wireless internet, hiking trails, extra bikes and fresh organic food from our farm from April through December. Guest AccessWIFI - use of all common areas of the house including a Pool Table Interaction with GuestsWe are hear and enjoy getting to know our guests, but also respect your privacy. Getting AroundYou will need a cat to get here as we are about 15 miles from the nearest train stop in Waterbury. Other Things to NoteDuring season, guest are welcome to tour and even help out on our organic farm. There are also lots of folks around that help with the farm.

An hour and a half from the city away from NYC its a perfect getaway or just a place to spend the night with a book. May consider well behaved pets. Local overnight horse boarding with indoor arena available if traveling with horses.

    This sophisticated and modernized 18th Century rambling farmhouse is set amount towering tress, huge lawns, flower beds, parterre vegetable and herb gardens, 2 ponds, stone walls, pasture and woods. There are five bedrooms, including one huge family suite with a Q bed, twin bed and a crib. All bedrooms have lovely linens, down quilts & pillows, and comfortable upholstered chairs. Swimming pool (20x40) for summer use, as well as terrace with cocktails area, and dining table for 8.....dessert in the gazebo across the lawn. For B&B guests, breakfasts can be served at the big kitchen table or in the wood paneled peaked roofed dining room. The book-lined library has cable TV and the house has WIFI. For B&B; guests: Queen room with private bath -195; with sharing bath -175. Family suite (Queen, twin and crib ) - 225. For rentals....week minimum, from $3,000 and up depending on number of people and dates. Additional fees may apply: - Damage deposit | 500 USD per week Bethlehem is a small and bucolic farming community, adjacent to the towns of Washington and Woodbury and close to Litchfield with all their antiques stores, art galleries, hiking trails, trout fishing and horseback riding, and some of the best restaurants in the state. A car is definitely needed in this area, as their is no public transportation.

    The SpaceWe welcome you to our home. You will find your guest suite clean, comfortable and private with everything you need. The bedroom is large and fitted with a well supplied kitchenette. The smaller TV/sitting room offers an upgraded pullout sofa to accommodate 2 extra guests. Kids are welcome and we have a pack n play, safety gate and high chair available for little ones. The sky lit bath is supplied with a hairdryer, soaps and shampoo. Guest AccessYou have use of the entire 2nd floor. The entrance is shared but private. Our living areas are separate. You will see as much or as little of us as you want. We will take our cue from you. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help with questions. Your privacy will be respected at all times. The NeighborhoodHungry? We recommend The Painted Pony for lunch and dinner. Right out of the driveway, approximately one mile on the left. Huge menu! Breakfast on the go? Try Little Town Deli on East St. Right out of the driveway, turn right at blinking light at the green. Tasty breakfast sandwiches and Green Mountain coffee. Or head down the hill (left out of driveway) to Big Daddy's at the corner of 61 and 6. Hearty breakfasts are served here along with a helping of local flavor. Bethlehem is approximately halfway between New York City and Boston in beautiful Litchfield County. It's next door to Woodbury, noted for its many antique shops and near stops on the Connecticut Wine Trail. Historic homes like Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden and Glebe House are just minutes away or see how native Indians lived at Washington's Institute For American Indian Studies. If you want to hike on miles of well marked trails White Memorial Foundation is for you and only 15 minutes north. Less than 2 miles away March Farms offers cherry, strawberry, blueberry, peach, pumpkin and apple picking in season, baked goods and a terrific play area for kids as well as seasonal events and activities. Getting AroundYou will need a car. There is no public transportation. Other Things to NoteWe have 2 rescue dogs (sometimes 3 if we are fostering one at the moment) who may get excited and bark when they hear someone enter or leave, mealtimes, etc but settle down quickly. They aren't allowed in the guest area as a courtesy to those who may be allergic. You won't see them, they are in our living area and it is separate from yours.

      The SpaceEnjoy a comfy double bed plus a double air mattress, if needed. The kitchen has a frig, hotplate, convection oven, coffee maker and some basic utensils, etc. (I can provide a microwave, if needed). I'm upstairs if you need anything, else I'll leave you to enjoy your visit. No pets or smoking please. Space is limited to three people maximum. There is a small TV with cable and I will provide access to WIFI, when you arrive. You can park in the driveway ( 1 car max, please). This a perfect space for both short and longer term stays. Walking distance to Taft School and convenient to Rts 8 & 84 & 6. Guest AccessYou'll come and go through the garage, through a laundry area (you are welcome to use) into your separate lockable door. I'll provide you with your own keys for your stay. Interaction with GuestsI'll greet you, help you get settled and answer any questions you may have. I can give some recommendations for restaurants, great hikes, and other things to do. I have a cute dog, Ernie who is great with people and kids. He won't come into the apartment, but you may see him lounging in the front yard with his bone :) The NeighborhoodI live in a pretty, friendly and quiet residential neighborhood on a quiet street. We're about 5-10 min from Rte 8 and 10 - 15 min from Rte 84. Getting AroundDriving is the easiest way to get around. We're 10-15 min from the Waterbury train station. The backyard is surround by 100 foot white pine trees and there is an area where you can light a bond fire on a fall evening. The cottage has a pet door that will accommodate a 35lb. pet. It is fenced off to keep pets in the area. Please book your pet as an additional person. Guest AccessYou will have access to the full 7 acres and a private stream that runs through the property. We have a family of turkeys that wonders through every day along with many types of birds. Interaction with GuestsAs much as you like. The NeighborhoodWe have country roads where you can take a walk. Paul has a favorite 8 mile walk that he does for exercise. You can easily walk to town in 15 minutes, where there are many restaurants and shops. Bethlehem is approximately halfway between New York City and Boston in beautiful Litchfield County. It's next door to Woodbury, noted for its many antique shops and near stops on the Connecticut Wine Trail. Historic homes like Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden and Glebe House are just minutes away or see how native Indians lived at Washington's Institute For American Indian Studies. If you want to hike on miles of well marked trails White Memorial Foundation is for you and only 15 minutes north. Less than 2 miles away March Farms offers cherry, strawberry, blueberry, peach, pumpkin and apple picking in season, baked goods and a terrific play area for kids as well as seasonal events and activities. It has 2 br- one in the loft area with a queen bed and one downstairs with bunk beds, bath with shower/tub, gas fireplace for the chilly nights, living room, game area with nintendo wii system/games/small tv, and well equipped kitchen. Enjoy the quiet evenings on the screened front porch or snuggled next to a fire in the firepit in the small fenced backyard. The backyard also has a gas grill and picnic table to enjoy an outdoor meal. The use of the kayak and canoe on the motor free lake is an added bonus to this very serene property. As the leaves begin to change colors, you will be mesmerized by the beauty as you hike or bike through the Litchfield Hills. This property is within 15 minutes of great antique shops in the very popular Woodbury area. It is within 30 minutes of more than one CT winery! You will be quite satisfied staying at our homey little cottage!

Beyond the 19C barn is a tennis court. There are comfortable tables and chairs for a glass of wine or relaxing on the field stone terrace. There is a large twin bedroom, adjoining a Queen with a shared bath and a library with satelite TV. The large master bedroom has a television, a dressing room and big bathroom. The family room consists of a Q bed, twin bed, crib, sofa and chairs and big flat screen, perfect for extended family. There is a total of five bedrooms, four with ensuite bathrooms. Guests are welcome to use the swimming pool, the terrace lounge, the gazebo, or snooze on the hammock. There is adequate parking onsite for all guests. Interaction with GuestsI will always be available onsite to help in any way I can. The NeighborhoodBethlehem is a rural farming town. There are multiple farms to buy produce, ride horses, pick apples or strawberries and blueberries. It has one terrific restaurant and a few family restaurants. While Wits End Farm is on a main road, as all 18c houses, it is quiet and private in the back where all the outdoor living takes place. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. The nearest train from NYC is Waterbury, Ct, half hours drive away; nearest bus station is 20 min. away in Southbury. Other Things to NoteThere is a two night minimum for BnB and a week minimum for rentals. Parties (rehearsal dinner, brunches) are possible if arrangements are made well in advance. There is no central A/C, but in portable units and fans. That said, the thick walls keep the house relatively cool in summer.
