The SpaceWelcome to one of the most beautiful and tranquil spot on the South African coast, Betty's bay. It is an hour's drive from the airport and an extra 10 minutes if you drive from Cape Town city centre. The R44 is one of the most spectacular coastal roads in the world, in winter it is easy to spot whales playing in the water. Bettysbay is part of the Overberg Biosphere. Because it is such a short distance from the city it is the ideal weekend get away. My house is right on the ocean, you walk from the front door over the lawn to the edge of the water. Many times when the sun start setting we take our chairs down to the water's edge to drink sundowners on the beach. I always go away feeling refreshed and nurtured by the silence. The house feels like an old style farmhouse, simple, warm and full of character. It has 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms and a big lounge with dining room and kitchen. I love cooking and the kitchen is therefore well equipped to prepare something really great. The house also has an extensive library, including recipe books to prepare seafood. (there is lots of mussels on the rocks not far from the house) The prices on the website is general prices during the year but during peak season I charge more ie Christmas and Easter. The area is great for walks on the beach or in the mountains, it is also close to the well known penguin colony. There is a walking path in both directions of the house that hugs the sea. Bettysbay is in a Biosphere with lots of indigenous “fynbos”. When you visit there is always something flowering and something to see, especially the birds that persue the flowers. "Wavesbreak" is my beach house and I have therefore endeavoured to make it simple and yet very comfortable. The furniture is super comfortable and excellent to just relax and read. Although the surrounds calls for silence I have a great television but unfortunately no internet connection yet. Guest AccessGuests have the house and facilities all to themselves, I will open up for them and then they are free to enjoy. I am always available on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or mobile if guests have questions or wants suggestions. Interaction with GuestsAlthough I live in Cape Town I am always available to guests if they have questions. In essence guests have complete privacy. Other Things to NoteIt is important to note that guests stay at their own risk, my insurance does not cover personal injury or loss. Although the house does not come standard with cable TV I am more than willing to supply one during longer stays. I remove it during the year for security reasons.

Guest AccessIt is possible to find privacy and comfort in many areas - each of the three bedrooms has its own outside space and en-suite bathroom, there are hammocks for the secluded courtyard or delightful garden nooks. This is the kind of house that could be enjoyed in great comfort by more than one couple. The SpaceTo maximise the magnificent views of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve mountains and the sea, including Jock's Bay beach (a residents' beach so never full), the main living areas in this house are upstairs and open plan, and include an inside living and eating area, and 2 balau wooden decks, each with living and eating areas. Triple sliding doors create a seamless transition between the interior and exterior decks. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped - you can feed and water 20 people, and cook everything from Peking Duck to 2 turkeys and trimmings for Christmas dinner. There are 3 standalone bedrooms downstairs (2 with double beds, 1 with 2 single beds), as well as a 'kids room' with 2 beds that doubles as a TV room if the 4th bedroom is not required. There are 3 bathrooms, and a downstairs braai area. The downstairs section has balau decking running all the way around it. There is no lawn, instead there is an established fynbos garden (100% endemic and indigenous species) that comes right up to the decks, in line with the biosphere reserve in which it is situated. The decor is a combination of modern, new pieces and inherited antiques, as well as unique pieces collected during the course of my travels to more than 70 countries. Guest AccessThe Jock's Bay beaches are a few hundred metres away. Main Beach, with its white sand dunes and great surfing/ swimming, is a 20 min walk away or 10 minute drive. The Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, a great point from which to hike into the Kogelberg and/or entertain kids, is 5 minutes walk from the house. The nearest big supermarket is the Spar in Kleimond (10 minutes drive), and there is also a Woolies in Gordon's Bay (30 minutes away). The house is suitable for children, although toddlers would need to be supervised in regard to the sliding doors and stairs. Interaction with GuestsA cleaner, Nozi, is available for 3-4 days a week (R250 a day including transport), and the owner will be staying nearby at her parent's house, so can assist with any matters arising. There is a washer/dryer (and discreet washing line) and dishwasher, as well as a TV and DVD for kids (no DSTV though - who wants to watch TV in such a lovely environment?). There is wifi as well, so visitors can stream TV if really required! Each bed has 2 sets of Egyptian cotton linen, and there are lots of fluffy bath and beach towels, as well as built-in cupboards in all bedrooms. There are hundreds of books to pore over during your holiday, as well as lots of beach baskets, games and the like. A baby cot can be arranged if required. The NeighborhoodBetty’s Bay lies on the southern Whale Route coast of the Western Cape, about 1.5 hours from central Cape Town, and 30 minutes from Hermanus. Betty’s Bay is a quiet seasonal holiday village, ideally suited to those who prefer outdoor living. Whale watching, walking, hiking, swimming, surfing, cycling & sand boarding are the sort of activities that one can enjoy here. It's Cape beach living at its best! There are lovely long silver sandy beaches, as well as a selection of small private beaches. Even in the busy season, the beaches are not heavily populated. Betty’s Bay boasts the attractions of the Stony Point land-based Penguin Colony, Harold Porter National Botanical Garden & the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. At Stony Point, the boardwalk makes penguin viewing a special treat. The walks, hikes, picnic spots and cycle routes in the Harold Porter Gardens and Kogelberg Reserve are spectacular. These wilderness areas form the central core of the Cape Floral Kingdom and are home to a huge range of flora & fauna species. The Palmiet River is also a favourite for swimming or canoeing. Horse riding on Kleinmond beach is highly recommended. Betty’s Bay is centrally located with Cape Town, Cape Town International Airport, Hermanus & the Cape winelands all around a 60-90 minutes drive away. The Arabella Golf Course (and spa for the ladies) is 15 minutes drive away. Betty’s Bay, nestled between mountain & ocean, is definitely a worthwhile holiday destination and this self -catering accommodation is the ideal place to stay & get away from it all. Getting AroundOne needs a car to go to the supermarket, but otherwise one can walk to most places nearby along the dirt roads that characterise this secluded part of Betty's Bay. Other Things to NoteThe house has an alarm, which one activates and deactivates with a remote, linked to a private security company. By having the living area upstairs, one can relax about security at night by locking the downstairs sliding doors (the windows in the bedrooms are too small for humans to get through), and keeping the upstairs completely open. The owner has never had anything taken while the house is occupied in over 7 years. Betty's Bay crime is relatively low, and limited generally to theft of flatscreen TVs when owners are not there (hence I don't have a flatscreen TV in the house!). ______ Keywords: boutique accommodation capetown, exclusive accommodation capetown, bettys bay, bettysbay accommodation, bettys bay exclusive accommodation, coastal accommodation cape, cape coast boutique accommodation
