The SpaceThis beach cottage is the perfect little weekend escape. It is small, but very cute and comfy with nice furnishings and everything you need for your holiday. My cottage is unique because its situated right next to the quiet main road of town, so its really easy access into town and across the road to the main beaches. It can comfortably sleep 4 - 6 people.
The cottage has a nice cosy lounge room with a log fire for those chilly nights and a sun bed next to large open windows to fall asleep on as you read a book, separate double bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate single bed, small dining area and large kitchen with stove, oven, microwave. Separate bathroom and toilet. Outside the backdoor is a nice undercover deck area with BBQ and nice deck chairs, a large open backyard with some nice trees and a big stone FIRE pit to drink wine around and stargaze after a hard days walking, diving or surfing (think Game of Thrones). There is also a vintage/retro caravan that is nicely appointed inside with two double beds and storage space (perfect for kids to sleep in). At the rear of the yard is a shed with some old push bikes, old diving gear and bodyboards for surfing. The backyard gets beautiful afternoon sun, and is wind protected.
The front of the cottage also has a nice new deck with table/chairs/BBQ and gets really nice morning sun. The property is situated next to the quiet main road of Bicheno, so its a short five minute walk across to the 2 best beaches of Bicheno, Red Bill Beach and Waubs Beach. The house sits across the road from the main penguin walking track and we also have penguins that come and nest under the house and caravan... you will spot them if you're quiet. The house itself is a short walk into town or quick bike ride. Im an avid book collector and there is a wide range of literature in the cottage. Guest AccessMy lovely Mother, Gail, lives only 4 houses down the street, so will welcome you with a key and answer any questions you have. Mum is an avid walker and can give you advice on all things Bicheno - shops, walks, beaches, wineries. Interaction with GuestsOnce you check in - the house is all yours, you will have my number and my Mother's number for questions, The NeighborhoodBicheno is the jewel of Tasmania's East Coast and the gateway to the world famous Freycinet National Park and Wine Glass Bay. A picturesque town famous for its sandy beaches, mild climate and sunny weather. The cleanest blue water you will ever see. A very popular destination for holiday makers and retirees looking for their idyllic sea change.
The town has many attractions to entertain and enthuse visitors of all ages and is the best place to base your east coast activities from. It has some of the best scuba diving in Australia - there is a scuba school in town, so you can book in to get your license, or just free dive the many rocky spots - lots of crayfish and abalone to be found. Great for surfing, fishing, bush walking, beaches, wine tasting, chess tasting, penguin watching, golf etc.
Bicheno is ideally located, taking under two hours drive from Launceston and Hobart.
Bicheno is famous for its mild climate. There are no winter frosts or fogs. The average rainfall is only 700mm per year. The hours of sunlight are amongst the highest in the world and the temperature fluctuates between 12 degrees in winter and 31 degrees in summer.
High sunshine hours and favourable winter and summer temperatures are a perfect combination for producers of pip and stone fruit, being the largest producing area of East Coast and the second largest producer of wine grapes.
Bicheno has a supermarket, chemist, hotel, bakery, service station, Bendigo bank with a 24 hour ATM machine, numerous motels and restaurants, an extremely well stocked hardware store, a Post Office and a newsagency with full ANZ banking facilities, so all life's necessities are readily available. Getting AroundCoach services are available to Launceston and Hobart. A community bus is also available. A school bus transports high school students to St Marys District High. Other Things to NoteMy home is cosy and rustic. Very charming - the photos on this page are all current. Nothing is hidden. It is stylish with a mix of old and new. All the linen on the beds is new, with new fresh towels. One of the only negatives is maybe some weak water pressure in the shower and the oven is small, but enough to cook for a few people. There is a microwave, fridge, toaster, sandwich maker, blender etc. There is no washing machine but in the village is an excellent laundromat that provides a drop off and collect service. Telstra is the only provider that gets reception in Bicheno - keep this in mind. There is also free WIFI -4O MINS A DAY - in town centre.
