The bedroom contains a king size sleepyhead bed. The lounge has a fold out couch for 2 people, extra linen will be provided for this if necessary. A port a cot is available on request, and a foam mattress for younger children if necessary. Guest AccessChildren:
We welcome children of all ages to stay. As you would’ve noticed driving in, we have a big playground area which you are most welcome to use. We have 2 young kids, Jesse (5) and Mikayla (3) who I’m sure would love to play too! We do have a friendly Labrador called Brodie, please just ensure that your children are familiar with dogs and know how to respect them.
If you have a baby or very young children, we can provide a port-a-cot by prior arrangement.
We do have a couple of mountain bikes which you are more than welcome to use. Just let us know and we will get them ready for you.
Although it is not ‘officially’ part of what we offer, we do have a basic gym set up next to the old barn, with treadmill, spin bike & boxing bag. If you are feeling keen, please help yourself!
If you wish to go walking further down the track there is a gate which marks the boundary to the neighbouring farm. Sometimes the gate is closed, sometimes open. If it is closed it usually means stock are present and we ask that you stay out. If the gate is open, feel free to wander as far as you like, but respect the fact that it is private land. If in doubt, just ask us. Interaction with GuestsWe live onsite and will be available to offer you any assistance you need. If you want any local advice or directions, or if you require any bookings to be made on your behalf we would be happy to assist in any way. The NeighborhoodLocal Beaches & Attractions:
There are so many beautiful beaches in close proximity, as well as Matakana Village with its boutique stores and vibrant weekend Farmer’s Market. There are also a number of vineyards, cafes and restaurants. If you want any local advice or directions, or if you require any bookings to be made on your behalf we would be happy to assist in any way. Getting AroundPublic transport is limited in our area, national buses come to Warkworth which is the closest large town with supermarkets and banks etc. A local bus call ed the Kowhai connection can bring you from Warkworth to Matakana and pick up can be arranged from the village. To access the local area your own car would be the best idea. Other Things to NotePets:
We do welcome pets, but strictly by prior arrangement before your stay. Dogs must be fully restrained at night, but are NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE COTTAGE. Your pet is your responsibility and you must be aware of the other animals on the property including our 2 cats, sheep and chickens.
We are on tank water, and while we get a good amount of annual rainfall, it can still get pretty dry during the summer months. So please be conservative with your water use.
Septic / Waste Water:
As we are a rural property all waste water is treated on site. We use a triple treatment plant which periodically disperses clean water out through the purple irrigation lines in the garden. While this water is clean and non-hazardous, it is best to keep young children away from the tank covers and the irrigation lines to prevent damage.
The Septic System cannot handle solid disposable items so it is critical that ALL SANITARY ITEMS ARE DISGUARDED IN THE BINS PROVIDED AND NOT FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET.
Our property has very limited mobile coverage, we have a booster for vodafone coverage but other networks have no coverage. Wifi is also limited, we also have a booster for this, but access can be variable.
